speaking of riding areas someone told me Polk county is opening a new riding spot, is this true ? anyone know about this ?
There was a post about this, they acquired the first 200 acres and are working on another I believe 1200 acres. (But with the OHV fund being raided, there is a sticky about this posted by GrizzlyBear) who knows what will happen. Anoriginal's comments are right on point about support, illegal riding etc. As far as folks posting about riding I know alot of folks cannot afford to ride like they used to, or have actually sold their rides. This due to the economy which then brings us to the political talk. The state of the country has brought politics to the forefront for everyone.

This place is gonna be so not good. No 2wd or performance ATV's? That means both my atvs are not aloud in. I got alot of performance work into my 4x4, and also i got 28 inch tires on my 2wd.
Unless they change the rule i am sure alot of people will not go.
I am not sure what your reading it does say "No sport Quads" which means 2 wheel drive sport quads. and then says 2 wheeled vehicles. Where does it say 4 wd quads are not allowed??

Well, after 18 months of pursuing our zoning and permits we’re finally going to open our doors to the world of mud bogging and off road vehicles. Today, I’m glad to reveal the launching of our website www.triplecanopyranch.com and announcing our Grand Opening over the July 4th weekend. We have a lot to accomplish in the field to be ready for our grand opening, however, we have a dedicated team of hard core mudders who love to meet a deadline. Although our intentions are grand in providing the finest park in the area, we are realists and surely expect the unexpected to occur. Whether some pits need more mud or some holes are too deep, we will be on the watch for your comments and suggestions as we strive to make Triple Canopy Ranch the most desired park in the area. Our location is ideal. Located in the center of the state will save our guests from having to travel long hours and allow them to spend more time on their toys rather than on the highways. So come on out and join us for our inaugural July 4th Mudworks. I think you’ll be pleased with what we have in store for you. Check out our website to learn more about Triple Canopy Ranch and I hope you will be able to join us in the coming weeks and remember……..”Play Dirty or Don’t Play at All”. Peter E. Cassidy

Some of their money comes from the government, the bulk comes from donations and corporate money.. look inside most Bass Pro Shops as you go in and look above you will find a Natures Conservancy sign. There are numerous cooporation that give to Natures Conservancy, they are worldwide and have alot of horsepower..much like the Sierra Club that "Realityhello" posted about on here. I'm not saying everything they do is negative but they buy alot of land and then lock it down. Here is their web site: http://www.nature.org/?src=t1

Florida Forever is low on cash but Natures Conservancy still has some....but that should slow things down since Natures Conservancy likes to buy it and then turn it over to Florida Forever or another state agency, and then not allow any recreation on it.
