General / Open Discussion / Re: Purchased a quad with a lien still on it, now what?

Listen to AintSkeerd. That's good info to anyone in the market, including myself, for a used quad. Many people out there (especially on Craigs) selling ATVs with only Bill of Sales. Sometimes they're third owners. If you're going to take a chance on the purchase, know the history of the bike. Like others have said, many riding areas require a current registration to operate on the property. Without a free title, you can't register the bike. Personally, if there's no title with the sale, then I'm not interested. I don't care how "cheap" of price. Just my two cents.

A small zoo in Georgia obtained a very rare species of Gorilla. Within a few weeks the gorilla, a female, became very difficult to handle. Upon examination, the veterinarian determined the problem. The gorilla was in heat. To make matters worse, there was no male gorilla available. Thinking about their problem, the zoo keeper thought about Bobby Lee Walton, a redneck part-time worker responsible for cleaning the animal cages. Bobby Lee, like most rednecks, had little sense but possessed ample ability to satisfy a female of any species. The zoo keeper thought they might have a solution. Bobby Lee was approached with a proposition. Would he be willing to mate with the gorilla for $500.00? Booby Lee showed some interest, but said he would have to think the matter over carefully. The following day, he announced that he would accept their offer, but only under five conditions: “First,” Booby Lee said, “I ain’t gonna kiss her on the lips.” The keeper quickly agreed to this condition. “Second,” he said, “she must wear a ‘Dale Earnhardt Forever’ T-shirt.” The keeper again readily agreed to this condition. “Third,” he said, “you can’t never tell no one about this.” The keeper again readily agreed to this condition. “Fourth,” Bobby Lee said, “I want all the children raised Southern Baptist.” Once again it was agreed. “And last,” Bobby Lee said, “I’ll need another week to come up with the $500.00!” *Just wanted to "lighten" up this thread. It started out funny and go to serious. Some people need to have a sense of humor in this forum. Been married to my wife for thirteen years, but been together for over twenty-two. She still my best friend and jokes around just as much as I do.*

Last weekend I was driving from Miami to St. Pete on I-75. Between mile markers 174 and 175 (just before North Port exit) I noticed some sand trails to my right. Are those atv trails, and if so, are they allowed to be ridden on? Just wondering b/c they seemed pretty good from a distance.

Relax Speedman, I didn't know your "sensitivity" level was so high. Dirt2Rider was given a bunch of informative replies on this post about places to ride. You make a little joke and you get bent out of shape. Nobody is knocking Rider for owning a quad or not supporting our sport. I too live in Miami and many times have driven 4 t0 7 hours to go riding. I've also taken my quads to TN, NC, and GA to go riding and you can't compare the opportunities for riding. Baileygunns had a big point. It sucks about the reality of Florida but it's all we got. Don't be sensitive b/c sometimes we make a few jokes on this thread to lighten up the riding situation. No hard feelings!

Here's an idea: You back up that parasailing boat to the docks, ride your ATV right onto the boat platform, haul but to the Dry Tortugas, land on the beach side of the island and go four-wheeling all around Fort Jefferson while waiving at the tourists and tour guides. When you get arrested (most definitely) by the Park Rangers, put up a"defense" that as a federal tax payer you thought it was ok to ride in any National Park! You'll probably lose your job but definitely make headlines on many papers and news networks. Also, I'm almost certain that you will make history by being the first person to accomplish this. Once you finish your prison term you can move to South, Central, or North Florida to look for a new job and places to LEGALLY ride. Plus you will always be the life of the party with that crazy ATV story!!!

A friend of mine who use to have quads was talking about the "old" days of riding at the Yucapen by Cape Coral. I know you can't ride there no more but was just wondering when they closed the area and why. Anyone who lives out by there that knows any specifics would be appreicated. Just curious.

I notice that Digginfool loves to quote stats. Here's just one of many that he won't mention: From 1986 to 2008 Miami won all six games against the Gators (a team from the "SEC"), including wins at the Sugar Bowl (2001) and Peach Bowl (2004).

IT's all about the U! I didn't go to the University of Miami (couldn't afford it) but me and my family were season ticket holders for 23 years straight when they played at the Orange Bowl (many great memories). Go Canes!

That's pretty messed up that on this forum people choose to blame certain nationalities or "beaners" as some of you like to call them on messing up riding areas. I've gone riding in Evergades National Park, Croom, Ocala, Badluck Prairie (when you could ride there), Holey Lands, and lots of other places where many of the people trashing and doing screwed up things that closed some of these places down where of "white" skin color. That doesn't make me think that "hillbillies" or "white trailer trash" folks are to blame for the destruction or closing down of riding areas. I was born and raised in south Florida, but I refuse to blame "certain" people in the ATV community for what eventually will close down the few remaining riding areas. I use to live off Tamiami Trail (8th st) and not once did I or my riding buddies make a drive to ENP to tresspass or cause destruction there. Some of you might want to think a little before you make statements on this website.

Last week in Dade County a 19-year-old boy got sentenced to life in prison for raping and killing his younger sister. This happened four and a half years ago when he was fourteen and the sister was eleven. The State finally tried him as an adult and got a conviction. The boy was mad and resentful at his parents for leaving him in Central America with his grandmother when he was two years old. The parents came to the U.S. to make a better life for all of them, but couldn't bring him immediately until they established themselves here (jobs, home, etc.) A few years after receiving permanent residency in the U.S. they were able to bring him over to join them and his new baby sister. He claims that personal resentment and rage towards his parents for leaving him when he was two years old caused him to do what he did to his sister years later. One day he waited for his parents to leave to work and entered his sister's room and raped her. After he raped her, he slit her throat from ear to ear. He the made a B.S. story about a group of men who broke into their house while they were sleeping. That same day he confessed to the cops and stated that he wanted to get back to his parents "where it would hurt the most." As a Corrections Officer for fifteen years I have seen some of the worst scum you could imagine, but this was something that hit me hard for I'm a father of three. I can't even begin to imagine the personal hell those parents are going through and continue to do. To lose your own flesh and blood because of your own flesh and blood. Truly unbelievable. May God give them all the faith and strength to continue in life.

Thanks for the info. I am trying to be open-minded about this. I never been a Polaris fan, but I know some people who have own them and they never had any problems (even the 4x4s). I've always owned Hondas because of reliability. The Outlaw I saw is very clean and I do like that IRS set-up with a sport bike.

I'm thinking about purchasing a 2006 Polaris Outlaw (independent rear suspension) quad from a co-worker. Does anyone in this forum own one or knows someone personally that does? I have heard good things about the IRS system from some other people that have rode or own one. Any advice or opinions (good or bad) would be greatly appreciated. Is it worth my money even at a cheap price? Help me out guys!

I'm in my thirties and doing pretty good vocation wise. I work for my parents cutting the grass, cleaning their pool, changing the ac filter, waxing their minivan, and lots of other stuff. Hey, I get free room and board and sometimes my dad even lets me use his cool TV remote control. Don't be a hater!

I've been wanting to ride Holey Land but have never been there. Is it dry for sport quads at this time and are there good/plenty of trails or mostly levy riding? Could also use specific directions on how to get there and a good place to park for trail heads (if there are some). I live in Miami and have no problem driving for a good place to ride. I know, lots of questions but it's getting frustrating finding good places to ride lately. And many of you are definitely right about Badluck being the best place to ride in south Florida. I use to go there all the time . Any info would be greatly appreciated.
