1  General / Racing Scene / FTR MX#4 at Waldo 12-11-05 POSTPONED on: December 09, 2005, 12:27:28 PM
Here is the message from the ftr mx forum:

ATTENTION RIDERS - The race scheduled for December 11th. 2005 has been posponed to December 18th 2005 .  Due to a line of rain that was suppose to move throught on Thursday stalled over the area the track has received about 4-5 inches . Even if the track could be drained , Saturday practice and Sunday race conditions would not be something I want to put our members through .  Also the parking areas are also holding water to a point that parking your truck or rv would not be somethig you want to due . I know this will effect many members plans for vacation , but the number of dates open are limited .

Friday night or Sat morning, still not sure.  BTW if anyone has a 400ex or 250r front brake rotor, I'm in need.

I'm all for more laps, and will help with a proposal if we can come up with a solid solution.   I just don't like people running down FTR when they are uninformed.   Here is a fact, the people who run FTR are unpaid volunteers, that give their time freely and pay gate, entry, and whatever else fees to attend each race just like every other participant.  This is not true of the FMX or any other track sponsered series  like Dade City.

Regarding pay back.  I could go either way.  A race weekend costs somewhere between $150 and $1000 depending on what parts I break.  $25 in winnings isn't going to change my decision to attend or not.  I'm not going to waste my time lobbying for it either.

I don't mine a quad series but no (FTR)  FTR thinks there the AMA but there not, they apply the AMA rules so they don't have to payback any money classes. They don't like to pay back money because they don't profit as much as giving a 2 dollar trophy, you don't have to be a rocket scienctist to figure that out. 3 Stooges

Everyone is entitled to their opinion, regardless of ignorance.  Now for my disclaimer, I'm slightly less uninformed than the previous poster, in fact most of what I'm about to submit, are guesses based on hearsay.  Regardless, I'm sure that people "in the know" will chime in.

FTR and AMA rules are very different.  Both sets are easy to download and digest, please do so.
FTR doesn't pay money back for many reasons, these are a few:
-They promote amatuer racing events, i.e. not professional.
-FTR doesn't run the races, the tracks do.  Gate fees, pit bike fees, entry fees, it all goes to the track.  FTR collects membership fees and holds fund raisers.
-You guessed it, the two dollar trophies are bought by the track, yep tee shirts too.
-FTR is primarily a family racing organization attempting to promote a sport they love in a healthy atmosphere.  That said, holding big dollar payback races does not attract the kind crowd they are looking for.  Again, just a guess.
I believe, if you are a member of FTR you can at any time review the executive committee meeting minutes and find out the exact profit they've been cashing in.  Maybe not, again, it's a guess.
Anyway good luck and let me know what you find out.

I'm ready and feeling fat (I mean fast)!  New piston, new exhaust packing, new plugs in the tires.  Yep I'm ready.

I'm hoping I'll need to break in a new piston this weekend and ONF sounds like a good place.  My quad is setup for MX and doesn't meet the sound requirements or have a spark arrestor, would this be a problem?  Fire danger should be low with the recent rain...... I could be wrong.  Again, this is hanging on the chance than my cylinder comes back from the machine shop and and can squeeze in a few hours to slap it back together.

Keep talking.  We'll see.  You want to put some money on this one.  Make it a little interesting?  Me on my 400ex vs you on your yfz? Whoever finishes higher for the day wins?

I'll be there, with a new piston in the bike.  I'm hoping to get a better start like back in the old days when I had more than 85 psi compression.

Randy, as most people will tell you, is a jerk. I can deal
with that though, what concerns me is:

practically jumpless, onelined place to get hurt that has
virtually remained the same for some 20+ years.

Of course this is just my opinion, race there for yourself and
make up your own mind.

Couldn't agree more.  Whatever safety factor he raises by not having any jumps, he loses by not marking the corners when he changes the direction/layout every week.  As for the personality part, I'd be willing to bet that guys own mamma don't like him.

there are alot of us that would love to support the ftr mx series BUT we run nationals and dade city..first mx race on a national weekend second mx race on a dade city weekend..poor planning if you ask me......

Scheduling is extremely tricky with ama and atva nationals, harescrambles, and enduro events, but why would anyone even bother scheduling around Dade City events?  It's a jumpless sandpit with unmarked corners.

It makes it hard to expect all to conform to the new db 1 month before the start of the season.

Amen!  Can I get a thank heaven?  See you there.  LostCause, you acclimating to your new job nicely.  Thanks for the info and keep it coming.

No rain yet today.  I called hardrock and they said all tracks are currently open.  Someone else please call and grill them on the conditions.  I did not ask about how much mud.  352 732 6697
14  General / Group Rides & Events / Re: 1st Notice! hard rock group ride on: June 17, 2005, 04:50:30 PM
I just called the track and they said all tracks are open.  I live in Ocala and can tell you we've had rain everyday this week except for today.  The track number is 352 732 6697.  Post your decisions. I'm on the fence, but will most likely go if no more rain hits between now and tomorrow am.

Cool the ftr schedule, I've been checking the ftr site daily for that.  I'm in for the Hardrock ride.  Been counting the days.
