General / Open Discussion / Flag Burning
|
on: June 24, 2005, 11:58:19 AM
|
Although I would never burn any countries flag, (as I find it to be disrespectul)..I'm concerned about the ban on flag burning being put forth in the legisative branch.
My problem is that they're not against the action of burning the flag, what they're against is peoples action of protesting by burning the flag.
As anyone who's been in the military or the scouts will tell you, the proper way to retire a flag is via incineration.
Thus, the action of burning the flag is not what the government is against.
What they're against is people's burning of the flag for reasons of protest.
This is a bad precedent.
What next? Should we make the speech of dissidents illegal? Where does it stop?
What do you guys think?

They're trying to do that right now in River Ranch.
The nature conservacy wants to take away peoples land for what they deem public use.
I suspect the founding fathers would be rolling over in their graves.
Government for the people? DEAD IDEAL
Government for bigger Government. ALIVE AND WELL.
GOVERNMENT CAN SEIZE YOUR ASSETS, AND YOU CAN'T DO A DAMN THING ABOUT IT!
I guess we'll just have to live with it.

Should have bought a Honda!
I find it hard to believe that a company who can engineer an impressive machine like the YZ would fail to have satisfactory battery function.
Seems like something must be drawing it down.
I knew Suzukis headlights shut off but continue drawing if you don't flip the switch.

Pro Circuit...big sound, big power. I run the T4..but it's on a 450R. I don't know how it would look on the Yamaha, because I don't have REAR VIEW MIRRORS.

Rev your throttle in the air and your nose will come up a bit...putting you in good position to land as you want your rear tires to come down slightly before your front.
You can feather the clutch in the air to try to keep from stalling as well.
It sounds odd that your bike would sputter in the air when your wheels should be spinning freely off the jump.

General / Where to Ride? / Durhamtown
|
on: June 20, 2005, 06:29:17 PM
|
Sunday June 26 - Wed 29th. My buddy and I are bringing up two underpriveleged teens to Durhamtown to ride for and camp for a couple of days.
Anyone else planning to go up those days?
We're staying at the Wolfs Den Cabin.
If anyone who has been to Durhamtown in the past has any suggestions or heads up, please let me know.

I thought that was what the kill switch leash was for...to keep you on the bike.
Are you getting launched off because of the back kicking you up? Or are you coming off the bike on the way down?
I stand up, slightly forward, and use throttle or rear break to compensate for the front/back getting out of line. You can also shift up to adjust while in the air.
Good Luck

I'm up for it. I want to meet at least one person from this site. I'm starting to think you're all a bunch of BOTS. When, where, and what kind of riding. I ride a sport 450R so if it's not one of those long rides where I need to carry gas, I'm down for it. Also, if its up at Big Scrub, are you guys planning on camping? Could be a good reason for a barbeque..bring some grills maybe and some frosty refreshments for after the ride.

Has anyone ever heard or used a sparkplug that prevents against hydrostaticlock and detonation in their ATV? I just heard about these sparkplugs that are designed with points to break, and release the cylinder contents to prevent sever engine damage. I was curious to see if anyone had anything good or bad to say about them. Or if they effect performance in anyway. I found this web site for them http://www.prepsparkplugs.com/home.htm

I'm sorry to hear about your troubles!
Ya know, it use to be "THE CUSTOMER IS ALWAYS RIGHT" was a popular saying amongst the Mom and Pop businesses, but now with the glut of overfinanced giant faceless corporations dominating the commercial landscape, you the customer is of little or no consequence.
I have a suggestion though. Since you have a good amount of people on this site, you might want to track down the name, and email address of the OWNER, not the manager of that particular shop, as well as the regional manager for Honda, and post their email addresses on this site.
Then ask us, your fellow BB members to start firing off a letter of boycott for that particular shop.
I find the best way to do it, is to come up with a form letter so that all the facts are correct and straight.
Just an idea. Post the letter writting request under a new thread.
Good Luck Peace out.

You don't want to hit a jump in anything less than 5th gear for reasons that are far to complicated to get into hear.
And remember accelerate through the face of the jump, otherwise people will call you a panzie, and you don't want that do you?
Actually, there is one secret to getting big air safely....first you have to...(Oh crap, dinnertime, I'll let you know later)

Are we not saying "petcock" for a reason?
If you get caught up in your riding like I do, you probably want to have a reserve for when you run out of gas right in the middle of all your fun.
It sucks having to walk back to get the gas can!!!
Make full use of your bikes design, get the petcock cleaned/replaced.

Try slitting two 1 gallon plastic milk jugs in half and crazy gluing each one to the handlebars as hand guards. You can paint them like the rebel flag if you like.
