I'm right up San Pablo by Atlantic.  We're do you go riding with your daughter.  I took my truck back when they cleared out the Target/Wal Mart megaplexes by you and was told it is a felony to drive back there.  I was just showing my kids the woods...but I guess some people have screwed them up in the past.

I was up at Ron Turners getting some stuff for my bike, and they were selling used quads for $1200 on sale... Embarrassed

That's when I started looking around for a cheaper alternative.  I have an old sand rail I think I am going to start fixing up...but wanted some fun for the kids to remember while they are young since it'll probably take me a while to get around to the sand rail.

Thanks to everyone who has replied.  I didn't realize that this was a technical question and needed to be in this forum.

I haven't made any final decision, but will let you all know when I do.  I may take a ride down to Gainseville to see what is up.  I don't think I want to invest $1500-$2000 per bike yet in case I find out that my kids don't like it, or that it is just too far to get to some legal and fun riding.

There doesn't seem to be too many spots nearby in Jacksonville.

Thanks again

Does anyone have any experience with the el cheapo Chinese made quads that have popped up all over the place?

I want to slowly buy my family into the hobby and was figuring a PEP BOY special or a gatormoto.com would be a good way to test the waters without investing too much...in case my plans don't work out quite right.

Maybe one like this

Thanks for your help

Just wanted to see if anyone has ridden Osceola, and if it was any good?   I think it is probably the closest to me (in Jax...by the beaches)
Thanks,
Tim

If you ever find yourself going by Pensacola, there is a Jones' (Ithink) swamp...very cools palce, and do-able with a sport quad when it is drier.
A 4x4 would be awesome there...

I go throuh the front door!
Too many toys in the garage.
Dune buggy, 2 bikes.  A spare vw engine...a spare dodge engine (going soon...anyone want a rebuildable 318 (ran when it came out)).
Easier to go through the front.

Under Clinton, didn't we have a cash surplus? oh yeah, Bush gave that away too....I think it was chump change for the masses...

Where'd Clinton get it from...back then the House and Senate were Republican heavy adn they carried on what Bush 1 started (which yielded more $)  I will give ya this...Clinton did save money when the he managed to shut the govt down for 2 weeks.

11  General / Open Discussion / Re: Street Legal on: May 04, 2005, 08:23:22 PM
Dreth, was it a 3 or 4 wheeler you tried to license.  The law says 3 wheels are okay, but you have to have turn signals, front/rear brakes, mirrors and some other crap.  That'd be an awesome way to get to local ride spots...but it'd be hell on tires.

Could you make a trike or a quad street legal in FLA?
I am building a sand rail that I intend on going legal with (maybe...depends on insurance and whatnot), and figured if you  threw a horn and some turn signals on, it could be legal...as a motorcycle.  I was just wondering if anyone knew.
Thanks

 Shocked
LOL
Damn dude...I was talking about some hunters scent.  But if you want to try to hold a deers winkie, I'm thinking you'll have a pissed off deer...unless it's a gay man loving deer.

Screw all that high cost damage...it'll just end you up in the clink (jail)...or shot (a little worse)
Get some deer piss in a bottle and put it on his door handle...low cost...non-destructive and very effective.

I like the girlfriend thing also...picture please.

If they were to let you ride there, you would have to have a safety course completed (just like for motorcycles)...there ususally isn't enough interest to fund any local courses...so no go.
When I was in Pensacola, we were trying to get the dirt bike and atv course over there.  Eventually the base saw the benefits and brought it in...for their security forces only.

I saw that one, thanks.  I was hoping there was something in the near vicinity so I don't have to dedicate every weekend to driving an hour to ride.  Maybe a spot I could take my kids to after work to get out of their Mother's hair, or a quick stop for the whole family.
I'd hate to drop a ton of money and not get to enjoy it.  That one spot by the gas station didn't sound famliar...was that local?

Thanks again

Just wanted to see where people in and around jax are riding.  I see a lot of clearings for future construction and was wondering if anyone is riding in these or are you getting chased off?  Is it legal even?  I am considering getting some 4 wheel fun for my family for some summer fun, but find myself questioning if it is worth it if I have to frive an hour and a half to ride them.

Thanks,
Tim

Jones' swamp is awesome...got my truck stuck there a couple of times.  I wished I had a quad in there.  I would invest in a winch for an ATV...the trucks tear it up with their 44's...nice riding though.
