1  General / Tech Corner / Re: clutch repair on: August 07, 2005, 02:47:20 PM
Hey, Thanks for the info. I ripped it aprt earlier today and saw everything you just talked about. I was pretty sure this was the right process but hate working on stuff without any clue. I'm waiting on the right parts to get here and then it's done.
Thanks a  lot
Jeff
2  General / Tech Corner / Re: i GUESS NOBODY KNOWS ANYTHING ABOUT REPLACING THE CLUTCH on: August 05, 2005, 06:05:02 PM
It's a Suzuki LTZ400
I basically figure the majority are roughly the same. I borrowed someone else's bike (mine is a 4x4 everyone else was bringing sports)  and his shifter peg fell off and it was stuck in 3rd and, well, walking(pushing) sucks. It didn't take long for it to go out, but he works for me so I'm sort  of stuck fixing it even though it was crappy luck.
Anyway, ANY help would be great! Thanks
Jeff

4  General / Tech Corner / clutch repair on: August 01, 2005, 09:09:57 PM
Yesterday I was riding a friends LTZ400
The clutch went out (after foot peg fell off and I kept riding)
I need to repair this for him but II am not sure where to start and what to do. I was looking at the bike earlier and I'm not even sure what side to take off.
Can anyoine help. I have been looking for something on the internet (pix) but have come up with nothing. I know I can do, just want some info before starting something I've never tried.
thanks
Jeff

I didn't get it in the intake put I was sort of facing down hill a little when I got the tail pipe out of the water and like a dummy didn't drain it out. I don't know what I was thinking?? I just hit the button and it sort of "klunked"! Then being the irate butt-wipe I can be sometimes, I got mad at myself and did it a couple of more times, untiil it started to turn over. Yeah, I know, Pretty stupid. I just changed the oil and stuff the otherday(after the ride) and it was completely fine, so it seems I didn't hurt it. Not sure if it was really hydro-locked or maybe jsut couldn't force air out of the cylinder because the tail pipe was so fillled up. That's what I was wondering. Anyhow, everything is okay now. Thanks
Jeff

It's a 2005 Honda Rancher AT

I know better than to do what I did. I was once a mechanic by trade (Army) but I just wasn't thinking. I checked the oil and it looks good (Still got the break-in oil in it, I'm bringing it to have it serviced this week) and it runs fine now so I know there is nothing wrong with anything. I  just don't understand how I got so lucky.
go Honda
11  General / Tech Corner / Sank my bike took 20 minutes to start. have ??? on: March 27, 2005, 10:50:57 AM
Yesterday, I sank the bike and it shut off. When I got the tail pipe out of the water  I didn't wait long to try and start it and then heard a klunk! Figured it was screwed and tried it a couple more times and each time it would make the same sound without even trying to turn over. Finally it turnded over a little before klunking! This went on for a while and I had to choke it all the way and easily give it gas. It would stall an I'd start over. 20 minutes later it was running balls to the walls like nothing ever happened. At first I thought I had gotten water ontop the head(figured it was toast) but it runs fine now, could this have been too much water in tail pipe and too much back pressure. Pretty positive everything is okay just can't figure out what was wrong in the first place.

Any idea?
Thanks

Purple Stuff!!!
Discount Auto  Parts has a version for $10 for a really big jug.
Mix it about 10 to 1 in a big lawn spray bottle and spray it down. wait 5 minutes and then wash off. Repeat 2 or 3 times and lokks like new.

I'm glad to be of service to everyone and their laughs.
I was just repeating what someone (whom I don't know) was telling  a friend of mine, and myself. They make them for little kids atv's but I thought their was a possibility.
You guys laugh at me and someone wrote about microwaves (designed to irritate the skin and cause riot control) and the only thing close to that, that would work, would be an EMP (elctro-magnetic Pulse) and would damage any electronics for good.
Anyway, jsut repeating what some jackk-ass told me. I was buzzed by copter and mine never shut off.
Anyhow, I guess that post looked pretty friggin stupid. ha. ha. er ha
Embarrassed

I just talked to someone today that was riding in Poinciana and the Polk County helicopter showed up and somehow shut his Polaris 500 off while he was still in the air. The guy hovered for a while and the dude on the bike said he couldn't start it up untiil the copter went away. Does anyone know of this and how do they do it? Is there something in the bike that can be unplugged so they cn't do this?

The Man's trying to keep us down!!! Cry
