1  General / Where to Ride? / Re: Fee Structure/ Rules and Regulations- Ocala National Forest- revised 9/6/7 on: October 04, 2007, 09:31:30 AM
They are getting exactly what they want !  Less ATV users through financial pressure and limiting riding areas.  They did it at Big Cypress years ago and it worked.  I hardly ever go now and I have a place in Hog Valley.
2  General / Where to Ride? / Re: Thinking of a 4x4 Holeylands ride Saturday night. on: April 10, 2007, 08:39:41 AM
I'm riding saturday afternoon with some friends.  All our bikes are on stock rubber, but we are going to try and make it to the buggy bridge.

I know we need flags, but how about green stickers ?  Are they strict about that out there.
3  General / Where to Ride? / Re: New name for trail system on: February 20, 2007, 08:45:31 AM
Two years ago I bought a place in Hog Valley, those were the days!  Now it's over, on my last ride I went south to find the "Open" areas all the way past 40.  You know what I found? Stupid little signs everywhere that proclaimed the trail closed to motorized vehicles but "Foot Travel Welcome".

I have seen it happen before at the Big Cypress NP.  The vocal minority prevailed with the help of the sympathetic NFS  employees and more importantly lawsuits.

I am going to bring my boat and enjoy the river next time, I will still ride because my sons want to, but I will be sad knowing that they will never have the opportunity to go out and ride at night or explore like I did.

Once the areas are closed they never open them up again, maybe some of you have heard of the addition lands in the Big Cypress.

If you want to make a difference vote Republican and hope they place a choke hold on the funding for the NPS.  Less Money = Less Rangers

I do not usually post, but do visit the forums daily.  I am so tired of reading all this conspiracy theory that I feel I need to say my piece.  First of all I think it is great to have Linda on the ONFA board.  Have you ever heard the saying "keep your friends close but your ..........closer".  Second, the Forest Service will do with the forest as they please, enjoy it while you can.  There are many examples where the Feds have closed down areas (ex. Big Cypress & Dry Tortugas) even after lengthy public comment periods.  The truth is that us 4wheelers aren't viewed very positively by most people making us very easy targets.  I am not trying to be negative just stating my opinion.

Dedicated people working together are the only way we will preserve riding areas.

Thanks for the directions.  I think those roads are  for registered vehicles not 4-wheelers ?
6  General / Where to Ride? / Hog Valley to 88 Store on: November 09, 2005, 09:22:36 AM
I want to ride to the 88 Store from Hog Valley.  Does anyone know if there is a good direct route.  I will be riding saturday, and don't want to go off the main trails if possible.

Thanks

Thanks,

Any suggestions on where to buy a small helmet and other safety gear ?
9  General / Open Discussion / Old Enough ? on: October 20, 2005, 10:29:06 AM

I am thinking of getting my son a small quad (50cc).  He is almost 4.  I have seen some young kids with full body protection on quads riding Ocala.

Any opinions or experiences with small kids ?
10  General / Tech Corner / Re: Carb Varnish ? on: October 20, 2005, 09:50:46 AM
Thanks,  I will definately try acetone next time.  No more scraping !!!!!!
11  General / Tech Corner / Re: Carb Varnish ? on: October 19, 2005, 09:33:45 AM
Does the acetone dissolve the varnish ?
12  General / Tech Corner / Re: Carb Varnish ? on: October 18, 2005, 09:12:30 AM
Thanks for the advice.  The problem is the varnish that is stuck all over the inside of the carb.

Anyway, I basically did what you said using a can of gumout and an air compressor.  After I put it back together and installed it, the bike started on the first pull.  I am very impressed with polaris.
13  General / Tech Corner / Carb Varnish ? on: October 17, 2005, 11:56:26 AM
Does anybody know of any chemicals or tricks to get varnish out of a carb?

Its a carb out of a two stroke polaris that sat for many years.

Any help would be appreciated.

Chillin I will be heading up tommorrow night.  I am pulling a popup because my place is rough.  It's an old mobile home.  I bought it because it has newer electric service, well and septic.  Thats big $$$ to put in up there.  I am in Hog Valley on 1st street.  Will you be there this friday ?  I just sold my ride to a guy who told me about this site (meathead I think).  I have an old 250sx 3 wheeler that I am going to use until I get something better

I have been surfing the forums here for awhile.  I finally registered because I wanted to reply to your post.

I just closed on Friday 2/25/05 on a place in the ONF.  I have the same idea of renting the place to riders.  My place is in the NW corner.  Where is yours ?
