This sounds like an excellent idea!

Maybe we could schedule a work weekend where we can all go up on the same day and pitch in on designing a track!

It would be a good opprotunity to meet people from this board and get some riding in with new friends.

I would love to see some tabletops or some doubles out there.

Anyone up for this?

Would anyone like to volunteer as a group organizer?

Where in Lakeland is Quicktrax?

I'd like to meet up with you guys and check it out when you go, if you don't mind another guy.

Pat:

Heading west on I-Drive, go past the 7-11 and look to the left for the big power lines going away from the road. That will give you where you need  to pull in. You have to hop the curb.
4  General / Where to Ride? / Re: helmets at croom on: May 29, 2005, 06:51:40 PM
I'd even suggest a chest protector at Croom.

Safety is key at that location as the trails criss cross.

Definitly use a helmet!

Mulberry motorcross park if you have sport quad.
6  General / Where to Ride? / Fort Meade on: May 28, 2005, 05:51:07 AM
Has anyone heard of any riding spots in Fort Meade?

I met a guy at River Ranch who told me that there is a place in Fort Meade that is all sand dunes. (Apparently an old mining property). He says it's legal to ride there and anyone can go.

Does anyone know of this place, or have any feedback on it?

Peace out

You need to hook up with a River Ranch deed.

That would be perfect for your Rhino. @ 40 square miles of mostly flat, muddy, trails and open terrain.  It's 30 minutes east of Bartow down Hwy 60.

Or at least find someone who will take you in as guest.

I've also heard of a place in Fort Meade, although I haven't been that is all sand dunes.

I'm guessing it's old mining property.

Hey Ida, are you going to wear that hat?

I wanna party with you bro!

Let me know when you're riding Sea World.

I'll shoot over from Lakeland.

Peace out.
9  General / Open Discussion / Re: River ranch on: May 28, 2005, 05:22:08 AM
You can put up to 4 people on the deed.

River Ranch is great for all kinds of riding.

I personally think it's the best place in Florida to ride.

I was out there tearing it up on a 450 R yesterday,

You can ride all day without going the same way twice.

There's no real jumps, but you can find a few places to launch from if you look hard enough.

It's not all whopped out like Croom or Ocala.

Let me know when you're going out there, I'll meet you out there and we can tear it up.
10  General / Where to Ride? / Re: Place to ride in Georgia? on: April 17, 2005, 05:47:14 PM
Thanks for all the info!

I'm headed to Georgia next weekend!

I'll let you guys know how it goes.
11  General / Where to Ride? / Place to ride in Georgia? on: April 16, 2005, 07:19:58 PM
Does anyone know of any good places to ride in Georgia?

I'm looking for some place with overnight camping.

Thanks!
12  General / Where to Ride? / Re: Around Lakeland? on: April 16, 2005, 07:18:05 PM
What kind of ATV are you riding?

I'm in Lakeland as well.

Spots I know of:

Mulberry Motordcross Park (see string on this site)
Croom
River Ranch
Ocala National
13  General / Open Discussion / Re: jet ski on: April 16, 2005, 07:15:50 PM
I'm sure you know this, but...with regards to getting the 2 seater Sea Doo, you're not gonna be able to tow a skier!

New marine law that you have to have a second person riding on the ski to spot.

Marine patrol are enforcing it, at least in the Clearwater Beach area.

So if you plan to use it for ski-ing you need the 3 seater.

You might want to check your local laws first before buying.

Good Luck
14  General / Where to Ride? / Re: River Ranch. Awesome place to ride. on: April 13, 2005, 09:18:11 PM
There are a few available on EBAY.

Check there.
15  General / Open Discussion / Re: jet ski on: April 13, 2005, 02:31:17 PM
What you want is the Sea Doo GTX Limited 2005

215 horsepower @8000RPMs pushing 867 lbs.

That mother flies!!!

Plus it's got GPS and depth gauge.

Did I mention it FLIES?

Definitely don't buy a used one, I speak from experience, I bought a Kawasaki 900 and blew the engine after a month.

Go with the new ones, check for a warranty special.  Last year Yamaha was giving away a 4 year warranty instead of the typical 1 year warranty.

Best advice I can give is to take serious care of your ski, because they're really tempermental. Stay on top of flushing it and familiarize yourself with oil pump maintenance.

Take care of it, and it should take care of you.

Good Luck

16  General / Where to Ride? / Re: River Ranch. Awesome place to ride. on: April 13, 2005, 01:51:01 PM
It's located just on the border of Polk and Osceola counties on Highway 60. I'm not sure how far that is from where you are in Pembroke Pines.

I guess the fastest way from Pembroke Pines is up the Turnpike to Yeehaw Junction head west on Hwy 60 to the intersection of 630 hang a right, it's about a half mile down on the left.

There's a disney resort with hotels, restaraunts, bars, pools, horseback riding about five minutes away. If you care to stay overnight, you might want to check that out. It's cheap too.

West Gate River Ranch.  About 5 minutes from the riding spot.

I'm booked up with riders for the next 3 weeks, but if you want, I'll send you an invite for any weekend in May, except Memorial day weekend.

Let me know!

Peace

I went ahead and bought a deed for River Ranch.

I put 4 people on the deed.

We each chipped in 750 bucks for the deed and the yearly fee.

Now we have a place to ride in Central FL for the rest of our lives.

Taxes are like 60 bucks a year divided by the number of people on your deed (You can have up to 4 people on your deed)

The yearly fee is 50 bucks which allows you to bring in your significant other and yourself, your kids ride free if they're under 16.

I checked these deeds on ebay, and they are going for as high as 4000.00 dollars and rising.

The tax auction has them selling for over 4 grand.

And if the government decides they want to pay for the land to be surveyed (each individuals deed would have to be surveyed by the government on the over 30,000 acres), they would have to make offers on each individual parcel.
Worst case scenario, it will be worth more than we paid for it in a few years if we ever decide to sell.

I'm psyched to tear it up out there.

Peace out
V.

prnstr:

You pick the weekend.

We may have you spring for the steaks or the frosty cold beverages.

Let me know!

SIDE NOTE TO ALL WHO READ:  I grew up riding in NJ where there are a ton of places to ride believe it or not. But here in FL there seem to be a limited amount of places to ride legally.
I extend this offer to all because for the most part, everyone I've ever met while riding, has been cool. I like to turn people on to new spots to ride, and I think that should be a common bond among ATVers.

Peace out!

bftclub:

If you want to check it out let me know.  My friend will throw you an invite.  We're always looking to meet new riders, if you have a friend bring 'em. (We can have 4 riders per trip)

It's like 20 bucks if you don't own land there.

Let me know.

Vegas

P.S. The rumor about the state taking the land has been around for the last 20 years from what I understand.

I'd be buying a deed if I could find one that was available.

I rode River Ranch for the first time this weekend.

The place is huge and for the most part, WHOOP FREE!

Don't get me wrong, I love Croom and Ocala National (Big Scrub, and Delancy) but River Ranch was, in my humble opinion, far better.

Once you get past the first mile or so of burnt out and littered campsites, the riding is AWESOME!

I highly recommend it.  30,000 acres plus, of open riding without all the whoops of Ocala and Croom.

River Ranch is ideal for utility quads as it has flat hardpacked trails.

I ride a 450R which sucks up the whoops of Croom and Ocala, and I couldn't imagine riding a utility quad at either of those places.

But River Ranch is perfect for flat out smooth riding.

Give it a shot if you haven't already.

I got mine at Radio Shack on sale for 69.99

It's fits right under my seat.

Lots of features for an inexpensive one.
23  General / Where to Ride? / Re: Does croom suck? on: April 09, 2005, 05:23:54 PM
Croom would be awesome if they'd do a perimeter manicure.

I don't understand why they don't manicure the perimeter trail along the fence line.

I'm not suggesting that they do all the trails, but it  sure would be nice to have some flat straight aways to get on the throttle.

All's it would take is a bobcat, or a grade all to do the perimeter once a month.

Hell, half the guys I run into out there are contractors with there own construction companies, they'd probably volunteer their heavy equipment.

I wonder if they'd let us do it voluntarily.

We could have a perimeter loop with one way traffic.

What do you all think.

24  General / Open Discussion / Croom Medi-Vac on: April 09, 2005, 05:16:14 PM
I was riding at Croom Saturday, and saw a guy get medi-vaced out of the facility.

I'm not sure what happened, as I didn't see his collision.

Does anyone have any info on this guy and his condition?

My prayers and thoughts are with him.

Hope he makes it out O.K.
25  General / Where to Ride? / Re: Ticketed on your own property??? on: April 06, 2005, 10:17:26 AM
P.S.

You keep bringing up the theft of my ATV.

Do you know something you're not telling me?

Peace out Andy
