1  General / Open Discussion / Re: Watch fox news tonight on: February 14, 2006, 06:00:15 PM
Here's the short version from Fox4Florida.com

ATV Onslaught

(Cape Coral, FL) -- All terrain vehicles are becoming as much of a fixture on the Florida scene as flamingos, dolphins, and manatees. The people who live where ATVers play see the onslaught as an ugly, noisy, destructive, and even dangerous invasion. Cape Coral resident Givovanni Indllicati is moving out after eight years because he doesn't want to deal with certain ATVers firing at people in his neighborhood. A FOX4 News investigation found the county and private land has broken beer bottles, abandoned burnt up cars, and trash as far as the eye can see. The Lee County Sheriff's office tells FOX4 that they've stepped up patrols in that area.

Who's gone riding there?  I'm sure we'd all like to get more information before making that trip.
3  General / Where to Ride? / Re: Yucapan on: November 15, 2005, 10:36:33 PM
Its drying out fast ,should be perfect for sport bikes next weekend.
MIKE
I hope you're right...I think I'll make the trip this weekend.
4  General / Where to Ride? / Re: place to ride in rotonda??????? :dunno.gif on: November 15, 2005, 10:34:52 PM
I think you meant 'salt flats' which is how people used to refer to a lot of this area.  I've traveled around and found some tracks, mostly for dirtbikes, but very limited trail riding.  I've heard there are more trails but I've never found them.
5  General / Where to Ride? / Re: Bad news for northport on: November 09, 2005, 04:57:46 PM
I don't see this as a big deal.  These are just tax repos that every county sells off, but North Port held them for years.  This will only really affect the areas that are being developed now.  The Yorkshire area is undeveloped and should stay that way for a few years.  Either way, it's still illegal to ride in N Port Shocked.

7  General / Where to Ride? / Re: CROOM what city? ALSO, on: July 29, 2005, 09:05:38 AM
Croom is just outside of Brooksville, Fl. about 45 minutes N of Tampa.
8  General / Open Discussion / Re: If northport gets closed I am selling my bike on: July 19, 2005, 06:07:39 PM
Technically North Port is closed.  It's private land in an undeveloped area and nobody really cared if people went offroad there.  That's all changing and before long you'll start seeing houses or condos being built there.

Write you County Commissioners and convince them to work with the Fl DOF to open a park in SW Florida.  Rumors are they've been looking into it.
9  General / Open Discussion / Re: are the yukapens wet? on: July 12, 2005, 08:21:22 PM
I haven't been there in a while but I'd bet the farm that it's under water after this past weekend.
10  General / Open Discussion / Re: The new hemi cuda on: July 07, 2005, 02:58:26 PM
Mine  had  the  one  piece  on  the  front  but  on  the  Z-28  you  could  get  the  RS package  [Rally Sport]  and  it  had  the  split  bumper...
That's the one I used to have...man I'd love to have that car back Cry.

BTW, although most of the new cars are loaded with emissions and HP #'s are reported as lower the new versions usually outperform the old ones by a mile.  Today all HP readings are rear wheel, the old days used crank HP.  Most of the 60's musclecars ran mid 14's in the quarter mile while now 4 door sedans do that.  The advantage on the old cars was that they were sooo easy to modify.  Changing headers and intakes along with a gear swap made a big difference.

And yes the new GTO is ugly, but it does run 13.3's.
11  General / Where to Ride? / Re: Info on Croom on: July 07, 2005, 02:35:48 PM
There's also a Hampton near the Croom entrance...and no, you still cannot ride from the hotel into Croom.  There isn't a Holiday Inn near Brooksville according to their website.

I donate plenty of money to the Native Americans.  It's called Native American Casino's.  Their are plenty of Native American Casino's in Wisconsin that me and the wife donate thousands a year at.
It's good to see you're doing your part...I've also contributed in a similar fashion Wink.
13  General / Open Discussion / Re: Agreed on: July 06, 2005, 08:17:01 AM
You all realize that the Indian tribes were regularly at war with each other over land and when they took it they didn't compensate the losers, they killed them.
Do you honestly think this huge piece of land we live on would still be pristine, untouched wilderness if only the indians lived here?  Asians or South Americans would have taken this land over if the Europeans didn't.  If you feel so bad for the American Indians then donate some money to them and quit crying about history...it's done and can't be changed.

Did anyone go out there this past weekend?  It was pretty dry last week but I doubt that's long enough to dry out the trails there...maybe next weekend Cheesy.
17  General / Where to Ride? / Re: Check it out on: June 17, 2005, 01:46:09 PM
At least there's talk of opening a park for ATV's and they didn't just slam them like most news stories do.

19  General / Where to Ride? / Re: Has northport dried up? on: June 14, 2005, 06:09:09 PM
With a week and a half of steady rain I'm guessing it's gonna be pretty wet out there for a while.  And the Yucapan will probably be under water until October Sad.
20  General / Open Discussion / Re: Dirt Wheels, July on: June 13, 2005, 08:17:32 AM
Great story Jen, congratulations!  I think I bought the factory shocks off your quad from your husband a few months ago.  Maybe I should have had you sign 'em now that you're famous Grin.

That would explain the Escape Hybrid Shocked.  The 06's will probably come with a rainbow sticker option.

Yucapan is great for quads but with this rain you're better off with a boat out there.
I've heard of people riding in Arcadia but not sure where...ever been there?
