Hey , I grew up in Wheeling, welcome Hillbilly! There is a spot on Burnt Store Road down there, Look for posts about the Yucapan, that is the area, nice riding there. Or there is a spot in North Port which is north of there.

I'm not sure Saturday is better than Sunday, during the week it's empty out there. They go thru phases where they patrol heavy for a couple of weeks then they are hardly around for a while...it's a crap shoot. Do you of anywhere good spot I can park off the road, I have a 20ft cargo trailer so I am a little leary of gettingstuck somewhere. Thanks

I'll be there, not sure what day tho. Was thinking maybe Saturday may be less police patrolling, not sure.
Gotta find somewhere I can get off the road with my trailer without getting stuck.

They were all part of General Development which went bankrupt many years ago. You probably can't get a cheap lot in there anymore since everything in North Port has gone up, even though there is no power and the area will likely be abandoned for a few more years. Is that area known as LeHigh Acres?

What do you mean? How did all that property get in that condition, it looks like someone started to develop a subdivision and then abandoned it. Do you know they story on it? No biggie, more curious than anything, would be nice to pickup a lot in there if they were selling for cheap. Mike

Flsnake, we were out there Saturday and were followed in by the 50.(Really cool guy). He said they are going to step up patrol out there next month, lot more road patrol and running people off... Our time out there is very limited.. We camped out Saturday.. not that many people there.. Sunday was another story. But NPPD was on patrol...We also know someone that owns property out there so we park on his property and they don't mess with us.. Duff own alot of the property by the mud pit and there is a tresspass for his property and they also got a guy from miami that own over 1900 lots and he also has Tresspassing for his.. Really have to be carefull. 05greengriz is right alot of us from northportoffroad get together down there have to check out our sight.. We get together for campouts and stuff.. We saw some people who looked like they were camping out there on Sunday, it was kinda at the end of the road when you take that 1st left past I75, was that your group? Is that area ok, did the cops come talk to you guys too?

So do you know of any good spots? We made left right after we crossed under I75, went back there parallel to the power lines. Lots of people riding along the lines but I see on your map it is marked red to stay away, is that true?
Thanks

Went out there Yesterday 4/17, my first time, it is really a nice place, got to ride about 1 1/2 hours before the cops told us we couldn't park where we were, he never said we had to leave the area, just we couldn't park where we parked which was like an abandoned cul da sac, he said you have to park off the road and the cul da sac was a road. He said we would consider this warning petty, he was pretty nice, but he never gave us a clear idea on where we could park. Do you have to go hide in the woods somewhere? So where does everyone park that they allow it? There were alot of folks out there, this could be my new best place!!

I just got back from there 2 hours ago. I'ts alot drier now. The flag ponds are still flooded but you can get around those. It's dry enough to ride whatever you got. Cool, I'm either going there or North Port tomorrow, cant make up my mind.

You run in Tow/Haul all the time you are trailering?
I really like my Dodge, I was a GM and Ford man all my life, we got a Durango in 99 and had pretty good luck with it so I thought I'd give the truck a try and I am not at all disappointed.
I have been thinking of moving up to a 2500 or maybe even a 3500 dually.

Ok, I picked up a Pace American CargoSport 8 x 20 with Ramp Door. I'm looking for some thoughts on how best to load my stuff on it, I tried it with my Z400 in the front (375lbs), the Polaris (460lbs) next over the axles, then the Prarrie (580lbs) on the back. It seemed to kinda fish tail alot. Next I swapped the Prarrie and the Polaris with the Polaris now on the tail, it did much better, still kinda moved around some but not nearly as bad.
Anyone got any suggestions?
Oh yeah this trailer has a couple cabinets mounted in the nose, the kind ya get from Home Depot and put together yourself.
Thanks
Mike

Ok, in reality, from the way it sounds, you don't need to worry about what your truck can handle. The usage that you are speaking of .... 20',24',quads,car, whatever, that Dodge will take it. I don't even like Dodge, but trust me it will be fine. I have driven, hauled, towed, and pulled my whole life. Your only concern is your ability. As long as you don't get nervous, and do everything in slow motion, you will be ok. Just remember, whether it is a 20' or a 24', an enclosed trailer will catch alot more wind. Just let your truck have her head, guide it where you want it, don't fight it where you want it. Good luck, and in the end get what you feel more comfortable with despite all of our opinions. You are the one that has to feel good pulling it. Good advise that I can relate to, I do have some experience tho, in my younger years I drove tri-axles dumps and semi dumps, I drove conventional and cabover kenworth's and Mack's for many years hauling coal, slag, sand, ect back in the hills of West Virginia, Ohio and Pennsyvania. I just don't want to buy more trailer than my truck can safely pull down the road, I don't want to become a statistic. I don't want to compromise safety to get those extra feet, but if I can do it safely I want them. Thanks

You can also Buy a stabalizer to gain more control. My dad pulled a giant camper w/a Toyota Tundra. He said you might need a sway bar w a trailer that long. Yeah someone else mentioned a sway bar and maybe even a weight distribution hitch.
