1  General / Open Discussion / Re: LCD OR PLASMA on: December 18, 2005, 08:03:56 PM
In my personal opinion, DLP is the best out there right now.  LCD is great too, plasma comes in last of these three.  From my research, I've found it won't last as long, repairs are basically null, and images will "burn in" like old computer monitors.  If you had the ABC bug in the corner of your monitor it has the potential to burn in.  I say go with the DLP!

14  General / Tech Corner / Re: polaris help on: August 24, 2005, 05:37:34 PM
Well, go ahead and buy one...just don't be an idiot like me and include the throttle cable in the bracket...go ahead and leave it outside of the bracket.  Nerd
15  General / Tech Corner / Re: polaris help (solved) on: August 24, 2005, 08:36:00 AM
Problem solved!   Grin  Here is the moral of the story, HOLD YOUR DRINK WHILE YOU DRIVE.

Upon taking all of the front junk off the quad..fenders, storage box, pod box, and finally, the cupholder attached to my handlebars, I realized that my cupholder bracket had worn into the throttle cable, taken the insulation off some of the wires and grounded them to the handlebars.  Fortunately, I found it very easily.  So, I taped them up and I'm back in action.

Learn from my mistakes people!  You'll be better off! Grin Grin

Thanks for all the help though!@

18  General / Open Discussion / Re: RR INCIDENT - DOG SHOOTING on: August 05, 2005, 11:38:22 AM
I finally have a minute to write about this incident instead of just reading it.  I've made a few observations here that are quite interesting to me...

1. Let me start by saying that this incident was wrong. I don't condone it, and don't appreciate that it was done in front of kids.

2.  if you read through all of the other topics on this 'open discussion' forum, typically everyone says that they wouldn't call the cops..they'd handle it on their own.

3.  Sending letters to them is just going to annoy them and bring yet another nuisance mark against atv'ers.  Think of how many peoples lives we could ruin if police went and reacted everytime a bunch of people wrote letters to the cops telling them to arrest such and such a person.

4.  If everyone is out to give the atv community a better name and reputation...sweep this one under the rug.  Let the board handle it,  let a couple of people that were there handle it and move on.

my very opinionated .02 cents.

I just wish instead of shooting the dog he would've shot my polaris so I could call insurance on the dang thing.  Grin Grin
19  General / Tech Corner / Re: polaris help on: August 03, 2005, 07:48:05 AM
dang, why didn't you guys mention the insurance idea?!!! We coulda been home!

Actually, I checked the serial numbers and of course, mine isn't recalled.  So, I'll look more into it later.  I won't have time until this weekend.  But I'll definitely let you know what it was.
20  General / Tech Corner / Re: polaris help on: August 01, 2005, 10:31:59 PM
thanks Purelogic, you were about to get an earful until I read the next post Grin

Hey, my manual states in the troubleshooting section
"ATV won't start...may be tripped circuit breaker...solution...reset breaker"

That's the only place it ever mentions circuit breaker.  Anyone know where the dang circuit breaker is on a Sportsman 400?
21  General / Tech Corner / polaris help on: August 01, 2005, 08:38:26 AM
Strange situation... driving my sportsman 400 this weekend and it's running absolutely great.  I veer onto edge of trail to avoid deep deep water and my right front tire hits a root and yanks the handle bars to the right.  Instantly I lose all power and it hasn't run since then.   That's all the damage there is.  Everything hardware related is perfectly straight. It's an electrical problem or something.  Any ideas?

MOM HAS THE FLU
And this was for only 5 days!!!!!  The following are the notes pinned to the pillow by the well-meaning husband of a mother who has the flu .

       Monday A.M.

My Dearest: Please sleep late.  Everything under control.
       Lunches packed.
       Kids off to school.
       Menu for dinner planned.
Your lunch is on a tray in refrigerator: finger-sandwiches and fruit cup.
Thermos of hot tea by bedside.
       See you around 6:00.
       Hope you're feeling better.

       Tuesday A.M.

Honey: Sorry about the egg rack in the refrigerator. I tried to catch it.
Hope you got back to sleep.
Did the kids tell you about the Coke I put in their Thermos bottles?  Apparently not a good idea.
The school might call you on this.
Dinner may be a little late,  I'm doing your door-to-door canvas for liver research.
       Your lunch is in refrigerator.
       Hope you like leftover chilli.

       Wednesday A.M.

       Dear Doris:
Why in the name of all that is sane would you put soap powder in the flour canister!
If you have time, could you please come up with a likely place to find Chris's missing shoes?
We've checked the clothes hamper, garage, back seat of the car and wood box.
Did you know the school has a ruling on bedroom slippers?
There's some cold pizza for you on a napkin in the  frig.
Am trying to find out what smells in the kitchen.
Will be late tonight, driving eight Girl Scouts to tour meat packing house.

       Thursday A.M

       Doris:
Don't panic over water in hallway.  It crested last night at 9P.M.
Will finish laundry tonight.  Please pencil in answers to following:
       1. How do you turn on the garbage disposal?  I thought it was automatic... Guess not.
       2. Why would that rotten kid leave his shoes in his boots?
       3. How do you remove a Confederate flag inked on the palm of a small boy's hand?
       4. What do you do with leftovers when they begin to snap at you when you open the door?

I don't know what you're having for lunch!  Surprise me!

       Friday A.M.

Hey: Don't drink from pitcher by the sink!  Am trying to restore pink dress shirt to original white.
Take heart. . . .. . Tonight the ironing will be folded, the house cleaned and the dinner will be on time................... I called your mother.
24  General / Open Discussion / Re: how to sell car on my own on: July 26, 2005, 09:34:44 AM
thanks for the replies. I definitely want to CMA.
People have warned me about selling to a neighbor, but in this case, I know what I am giving them is in pristine condition with an extended warranty. So, my conscious is free. I've even explained to them that the car is in great condition..we bought it new and they know the history of it, so they are cool with it.  But it is definitely a valid concern.

Maybe I'll drive with them down to the tag/title place to transfer it with them.
25  General / Open Discussion / Re: elliot key? on: July 26, 2005, 08:41:01 AM
well went out there sunday and it was awesome. ended up going to the north sandbar on elliot key. my family and i had agreat time. will be doing it again a whole lot. gotta tell ya though that blackpoint marina is a zoo on the return. had a line of about 20 boats in the channel to get back and the a-holes which would cut. park officials say its always like this. d@mn.

blackpoint is an absolute zoo. In fact, people will bring their coolers and chairs in the afternoons and just watch the a-holes bounce boats off each other..back their cars into the water because they are idiots.  Consider where you are at... South Florida, this place is swarming with idiots.  What's even worse is that you don't need any license to get a boat...anyone with money can be on the water.
But, it's what you have to endure to get out to Elliot Key.
I go out there a lot and it is great. It makes living in South Florida worth it.
