Thank you to everyone for coming out this weekend! You quad racers are an awesome bunch! Doing these races has truly been a great experience in my life. I lead a dual life. My friends at home and family do not get it and never will. I have made so many new friends each year in FTR I cannot count. I have so many of you on speed dial and know I could call on you any time. Putting on these races takes an enormous amount of planning and dedication. Many of you know that to get together and put one of these on is hard. Getting enough people to see everything through until after everyone is gone Sunday night is not easy. Getting enough people who know the rules and how it works is even harder. What you have left is short of an ego battle at times. I am so over it I can't stand it. AFter everything is going smooth you wind up My section was entrance, camping, club parking, sign-up, vendors, band, start/finish, section 1 going all the way to the fence and coming out of the fence all the way back to the finish. Wednesday morning at 8am that whole pasture was full of cows. My little dog and I herded them out and 1 guy and I, Darrell Martin, beat and pounded most every stick and stake to make up that section. I used satellite imagery to make a loose picture of what would work and went with it. I studied how the GNCC does it and made it a goal not to use double green posts all over the pasture and use the 20ft rule with creative placement of the arrows and 30 feet of stakes and ribbon for turns or guidance. Sure makes for an easier teardown Sunday night. It was very much fun and very much rewarding seeing everyone go the way intended and not be confused. Practice shows any weaknesses or re-routes that may be needed. SEFTR is lucky enough to have some really great members who were there to see this through and make it as safe for you and fun as possible. I have spent the last three months out there, fishing, hunting, and riding. Working, too. I am sure other clubs and their members reap the same rewards for belonging and being a part. I encourage you to seek out a club near you or one that maybe isn't so near but, you jive with the people better. Whatever the case, just try it. Thats how this whole thing keeps going. Ok, I am 3/4 dead and going to bed.

It's coming up this weekend! Should be around 10-11 miles. I think it's $10 or $15 for two times around. Please remember the Fun-Run is a way for non-members to see what it is like without the pressure of racing. Hope to see you there.

Well, we finally got our date changed from Mothers day to the last weekend in March. Talk about one happy club and happy racers, too. Hold on now! The AMA Supercross series has a race scheduled for Saturday night and we get word that several clubs have decided to attend this instead of our event. What to do?? Change the event date for the few(estimates are 100-200) that aren't coming or keep our date and host a great event for the many who are planning on attending our event?? We chose to promote the heck out of it as best we can and make up for the folks who chose to skip our event with new people. We have decided to offer any CARD HOLDING SSQSA MEMBER THAT IS NOT CURRENTLY A FTR MEMBER 50% off the race entry. This is $25 that the racer can use to join FTR which is $50 for the year and I believe our event gives a new card purchase the rest of this season and all of next. I was called by Brett to see if FTR would do something for the racers in SSQSA. Since that isn't happening, our club stepped up to offer this. Here is a link to our race flier and website. http://www.seftr.org/razorback.htmlWe are also hosting a Charity Fun-Run Saturday after the races. You do not have to be a member of anything. All we ask is that you wear a helmet and stay on the trail. We will have food and live music, too. We hope you don't have anything better to do and come to our event for some fun! Brian

I think the biggest change has been the addition of the pee-wee and Jr quad classes. This is due to the quad racers being more active in all aspects of FTR and the hosting clubs. I think the Motoplex will be hosting a FTR event soon, too. It may be through a existing club but, I know it's being talked about.

I think FTR is blessed to have the #1 racer in XC at one of their events. It would be nice if everyone felt this way but, I guess some don't care because it is not a 2 wheeler racer? You said it duroc, Suncoast is not know to be quad friendly but, they accommodate. I wish I could have been there. I had to work which I am thankfull for

The AA class is not going anywhere. It was just some phooey Jack Terrell had put together that never went anywhere. The quad numbers are up and growing. Too bad Kiser and Ballance didn't show up.

"Keep up the numbers and the bike guys will have to "like" us, that is if we really cared! "Please keep in mind who the backbone of these races are. Bike guys. For those of you who are too new to remember, the bike guys don't have to like us and will get rid of us if we don't help. Everything you experienced was from volunteering. Do your quad mates a favor and find a club close to you and help them get a race ready and help host it. THAT is how the bike guys will like us. Your quad buddies will love you!

I raced the GA race twice and both times it was raining or wet. I spun out in the first tun like a circus clown in the little cars. Felt like such an idiot, LOL! Right in front of everybody, including my family who drove to watch

It's the same Glen Beck wanna-be's that will have you believe the sky is falling. Last time I checked there was a full schedule of races and FTR membership base is over 2,500 strong. "We must ban together or be banned all-together" Some do not understand the importance to this quote and seem to take a certain pride in dividing the membership into an us vs. them mentality.

Shawn, the MX part is so minor and there is only tables and a couple rollers. Some big berms and you are back in the woods. It is well worth the drive. You are right about it not raining. They will race in it and it would suck!!

It's ok. No one think you are starting anything. It doesn't matter anymore why the race was canceled. It stinks that it was and people spent money and time to go. The race has been rescheduled for the weekend of Jan 9th/10th. For selfish reasons, I am glad because now I can race it!

Deleted some posts because they were off topic. Not meaning to offend anyone. It was nothing personal against any of you, so please don't chew me out. You guys have valid reasons to be upset when a race is canceled. Trust me, the clubs hate doing it. Predicting the weather in Florida is tough to say the least. I was wrong about the forum. It was shut down pending the EC meeting we had tonight. It has been determined there will no longer be a chat section and the forum will temporally limited to officials and club leaders posting information until a forum moderator can be found. When we have found someone to volunteer to be that person, they will adhere to forum rules and delete accordingly. See everyone in Brooksville.

General / Racing Scene / Re: how many of the ftr races are
|

Most of the races are held on Cattle ranches. Many have no clue what it takes from the rancher to move the cattle. Now I have been to some ranches where the rancher simply rides his truck or Mule around honking a horn or making some sort of noise and the cows follow him to wherever he goes. Others have to hire out cowboys to move them. It cost us (SEFTR) $1,500 to move them out of the parking and race area and $1,500 to move them back. Now the rancher is in ranching for profit. Moving the cattle causes weight loss in most cases. To the rancher EVERY pound matters. Some are so smart, they knew how much weight they would loose and factored this into our fee. Sometimes the grazing areas are the same areas we use for racing and camping. I have run over my share of cow poop. Tastes like...poop. I remember when I first got my PowerMadd hand guards. I though they were weak and were more for looks. Until that race where the start was running through some fresh poop and someone was out front pinned and S was flying everywhere! LOL! Except my hands. They were clean. I had Black and White gear. It was polka-dotted with poop and the stains never came out! LOL!

Hey Willis, I didn't get to make this one either. I talked to two guys that went and said it was great despite any condition. That is my thinking, too! Said it was good, though.
