3  General / Racing Scene / Re: Ronnie Hopkins passed away on: August 01, 2010, 02:25:19 PM
I'm at a loss for words today. Last night I witnessed a fatal car accident and this morning I get this news.

Ronnie was by far one of the nicest people I have known. He would build stuff on CNC machines and just give it to you. I have a huge billet sparkplug he made me.. He would make things just to make them,  Ive had it for years. The first time I met Ronnie, my brother Dave and I were young. It was at "Hernando" back in the hill climbing days and Ron and Rooster "Mark" were giving Dave a hard time (teasing) that he couldn't climb this vertical hill on a stock trx250r. Well Dave climbed it anyway and friendships were made.

I have alot of good memories of Ronnie. Cant say Ive ever seem him pissed off or yelling. All he would ever say was "GET IT RAG!!!" and "BRRRRRPPPP!!!!"  cause he loved 2 stroke motors. He was one of the last 3 wheel hill climbing/draggers. He was hell on the light with lightning fast reflexes and only until I built a 10mm Banshee on Alky could I take him.

I miss those days. Ill miss his friendship. And until we met again.

GET IT RAGGG!!!!

Funny you say that...   Thats what alot of people have said.. If hotshoe is serious in his claims, he should let us know who he is.

You might have better luck with Brady answering your questions if you post them under the forum Brady runs..
Look for the florida dirt track section under racing scene.

20  General / Racing Scene / Re: What's Your Racing Number Mean? on: February 13, 2008, 07:45:19 PM
Lyndon's number is 86. It used to be 89 the first year or so that he raced, which is the year he was born. He changed it to 86 to honor his sister (born in 86) who died of cancer. Pretty special I thought.
I knew Lyndon would not tell this story so I thought I would.

First of, sorry for your loss. I cant image what it would be like to lose a child.
That is the best reason for a number I could ever think of.
21  General / Racing Scene / Re: What's Your Racing Number Mean? on: February 13, 2008, 06:11:25 PM
Mines 07.
Some 15 years ago i went to my first race and someone had the #7 (lucky #7) so I went to 07 and it has just stuck from there..
Ironically, my 7year old, when he was 4 went to his first race but there was another racer with #4 so hes now #04..
funny how both father and son have a zero before the number for the same reason...
22  General / Racing Scene / Re: Are you looking for sponsorship??? on: February 01, 2008, 11:18:36 AM
yes...
23  General / Racing Scene / Re: New track coming to Tampa, Fl area on: January 31, 2008, 05:38:32 PM
Chris, just give us Todd's email address and WE WILL LIGHT a FIRE!!!!!    Cheesy    Grin

So when is the flat track race??  I am already missing Thunderbowl!!!

That would do nothing but piss him off. No one likes to be annoyed by 50 million emails Espically right now when he has the nationals going on and they have 30k to win races..  What do you do when you keep getting the same emails over and over.... you start to delete them..?

The Eastbay flat track race is still in the works, the SFTL website will be update as soon as the info is available. Im supposed to see him tonight, ill bring it up and see what he says.
24  General / Racing Scene / Are you looking for sponsorship??? on: January 31, 2008, 11:39:03 AM
Heres the deal.... There several guys that race FT that are on different sponsor hosting sites (sponsorhouse, ETC).
If you will add the Southern Flat Track Leagues URL to your sponsor page. I will add you to the racers profile page with a link to your Sponsor hosting URL. From Jan07 to Dec 07 the SFTL website had over 10K hits and I also get emails from riders/Venues all over the US. So it will get your page noticed even more than it already is...   If your interested, Write up a short Bio on you with or without a pic and email it to me @ Southernftleague@earthlink.net

Well, if you guys want this done faster... Were having a Flat Track race there shortly and we have a knobby class. What yall should do is during the drivers meeting (he usually stands next to me) is ask him and let him know you guys want to go there.. If you guys show up and let him know your interested it will light a fire under it.
