2  General / Open Discussion / Re: Mecca Farms and alternative Scripps sites HOW ABOUT LEGAL ATV SITE??????????? on: February 20, 2006, 08:11:45 PM
I would like to go to the meeting. Is anyone else up to the early drive?I am sure they screen the topics.Wouldnt it be great to get a group there super early and everyone talk about the ATV issue?

I like the idea about a private park and would like to look into setting one up with a small group of investors. How many acres would be enough? Again the enviromental issues would have to be hashed out. It wouldnt be long that someone cried & ATV Gestapo closed it down.Look at all the fines from Mudfest or Bamboo fest. You just cant own land and do what you want with it.

I guess for now we will start looking for people to go to Okechobee with for group rides.Went a few weeks ago & had a good time. The local law is passive as long as you stay off the bikes while you cross pavement.Otherwise all else is good.

There is so much land in FL, I don't see why it couldn't be done. You would certainly need a large chunk though. Something like River Ranch would be great, it about 70-90k Acres...

I haven't read through this whole thread but Greased lightening WILL take the finish off of your rims, grab bar, nerfs and so forth. I use Orange blast at Home Depot. It's more expensive but weel worth it. I dilute it 50/50.

amen! that stuff is amazing. I just got done washing our quads, and I used it on 1 of them but didn't have enough for the other 2 and was too lazy to go get it. The Wolverine is nice and shiny and no mudstains, the Vinsons are still kinda ugly with mud stains everywhere.

I've been using Greased Lightning for about a year now, never had a problem with it. I dilute it in water as per the instructions and it is AMAZING how the mud comes off with NO scrubbing. You DO have to take extra precaution with aluminum, it WILL stain it, you can still use it on aluminum but you have to remove it within 2 or 3 seconds max, spray on and rinse. Or you can clean the alum with another cleaner. Other than the alum it is fantastic, I strongly recommend it...

I have some ideas for working on getting the funds killed in the House and Senate. We can not allow public funds to pay for this, if any part of the public is banned from using the lands! It is late, and Thanksgiving is tomorrow. I will be able to post on Monday what we should do to kill this thing! We can make a difference!

  Happy Thanksgiving to all!

Hello Lisa, whatever happened to this cause?

Thanks...

Interesting, I wonder how strong they are and how much they have been able to accomplish... Thats good...
7  General / Open Discussion / Re: Southwest Florida Fox News on ATV riding !!! on: February 16, 2006, 12:15:42 PM
EXACTLY !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

WE need to take this state wide.If everyone does there part locally the attention is drawn. Then we all set a date while it is a hot topic to stage a protest again same day for all areas county wide in same location for each respective area. Now all of a sudden we have news coverage from every little section of the state on the same day and that gets point across for the real issue of paying registeration fees & not opening more areas!

Bravo!!!!!!!!!

Maybe an Association can be created that will protect our sport. For example, I'm sure many of you have heard of AOPA (Aircraft Owners & Pilot's Association), this is a national and there is also an International group (IAOPA). They defend the private aviation community from ilegal airport closures and extreme measures. They represent them at the local and federal government level. Not just small groups protesting here and there, but a strong group a legal entity.

I cannot say that I would be a good person to start something of this magnitude, but I would certainly not mind at all joining an association of this type and pay my dues, as I have paid my AOPA dues for more than 10 years now. BTW, there are more than 400,000 members today... A group with that weight most certainly has a say in what laws and such passed.

Just a thought....

For more information on the AOPA organization, take a look at www.aopa.org
8  General / Open Discussion / Re: River Ranch Troubles? on: February 16, 2006, 12:04:20 PM
I noticed it also said there were plans to build a resort at River Ranch.  Well, there is one.  There is a whole other portion to River Ranch that has time shares and to the best of my knowledge you can navigate to through the river.

Have never seen the guards w/ gun.  Have never seen anyone on a swamp buggy giving dirty looks.  Have never met a person out there that wasn't nice.  Going to Holopaw you may want to carry a gun w/ you.  River Ranch is nothing like what I'm reading here.

And the ppl that bought land under false pretenses.  Now they want to sue cause they didn't do their homework?  Yeah that's like me suing McDonald's cause I spilled their coffee on me and got burned.  What's wrong w/ having a piece of land that the government doesn't control.  Only reason ppl are mad about that is cause they don't own a piece of the pie.

Get over it move on.  We are harmless ppl out enjoying what little that we are allowed to enjoy.  Hunters just wait the tree huggers are coming after your land when their done w/ what we ride.  Cause you're killing off the endangered florida hog....LOL

"What's wrong w/ having a piece of land that the government doesn't control."

Absolutely nothing, its called private property... I agree with you...

whats the best stuff for geting mud off
wow, one year old thread.

Pressure Washer.

Yeah, tell me about it, I never thought it would be that popular. But then again a good cleaning is good after a nice ride. Keeps the toy in good shape. I have learned a lot since my original post on this topic...

You know one thing though, I'm STILL looking for that 5 gallon container of Gresed Lightning, maybe it was a hoax and never really existed...
10  General / Open Discussion / Re: HOT WATER AT RIVER RANCH PROPERTY on: February 15, 2006, 04:47:21 PM
Thanks to everyone for your ideas.  I really liked the one with the bathtub, but I think I'll go a little more traditional.  I found a brand new 40-gallon gas hot water heater in the newspaper today for $100, so I'm going to give that a try.  My generator is a 7000 or 7200, so I think I'll be okay.  All I know is I get the first shower!!

We have a 40 gallon electric heater, a pressure tank and pump. The generator I believe is a 5000. Pressure is great,  the pump goes on only when the pressure tank drops below the set pressure. Works like a champ.

Aluminum stains, that is a good question, I'd also like to know the answer to.

yes where is this place

Yooo, this place is right around the corner from my house. Not sure if it is a very good idea. It looks like an abandoned contruction site. But as others said they have not had problems, might be a lil smaller than what you and I are used to though, hehe...

No, but I will ask at the store. I would prefer to buy it online if anyone knows a link to someplace please post it. Thanks

Try Mr. Clean Auto Dry, it has a reservoir for soap and best yet has a filter to get extra clean water for a final spray, after the wash. It's actually for washing your car it leaves NO SPOTS it is great and there is no need to hand dry. It is a great product... You can get it at Walmart, Target, almost anywhere...

yamadooski,

that yamaha dealer will get fine if he gets caught sell that quad to your son. next time dont till him who its for. if the dealer gets caught 3 times he loses the franchise. you can get the raptor 50cc to move if you remove all the b/$hit  they install. my son as one full mod.

That is ridiculous, the child is not buying the quad, the adult is. What you choose to do with it is you business. Then again I agree with you, don't volunteer information.

I think the main reason for all of this is that the manufacturers don't recommend bikes, certain models, to be ridden by anyone younger than 16. I think that is where it comes from.

Just my opinion...

81 quads lined up end to end, say 6' for each quad with 3' space between them = 729'. that will make a nice pic.

jeff

How about side to side in a very slight curve, that would still look very impressive. Take the picture from one of the ends as well as the front middle, would look nice...

this is just the tip of the iceberg. we will get a little more structure for the group pics, more defined rows. i was thinking for the last one to line up end to end in a staight line across the pit.

jeff

That sounds awesome...

Does anyone know of any gps maps to River Ranch? Or anyone or company that makes these?

It would surely be nice to have something like that...

Thanks...

Do you dillute the grease lightening with water or use it straight?

I dillute it and it works great, I guess if you have REAL REAL heavy mud you can go straight, but it is SUPER strong. I use a 3 gallon fumigation jug and I fill it up with water almost to the top, then add the Greased Lightning and that stuff works incredibly. So just imagine how strong it is...

Laters...

Hello Mr. Bones and Moderators...

First off once again I would like to congratulate you on such nice site, it is a wonderful source of information...

Listen, I came across another forum that had an interesting set of topics. It is intended for discussions of ATV by Make, not necessarily Technical Stuff, but anything that you would like to address. In their case they have headed the area as "The Good, The Bad, The Ugly" then they list all the ATV brands, Polaris, Kawasaki, Bombardier, etc, it is really interesting. If you would like to take a look, here is a link:

http://windrock.hyperboards2.com/index.cgi?

I would REALLY appreciate it if you would incorporate this into the site, I think it would be beneficial for all of us...

Please look into it, let me know what you think.

In advance thanks!
