The difference between on road and off road is power to gearing.
The YFZR at this point is still a work in progress. Its a 44hp quad with a pipe and filter in stock form which is very impressive. The problem is that it is not receptive to huge power gains with the usual upgrades. We have built one and are in the process of the second. There will be a learning curve as with any new product.

I believe that in this day and age, all tracks should mandate a db testing procedure that follows the AMA testing guidelines. ATP as many know have to meet the AMA testing requirements at each and every national. We have tried every combination of turn down and screen available and even manufactured 1 off parts. We have found that there is "NO SCREEN or TURN DOWN" alone that will meet the testing requirements. AMA requires all PRO pipes to be 98db or less and all PRO-AM pipes to be 99db or less. As well, you are only allowed a 2db variance after the moto. Our Suzuki passed sound this pass weekend at the CERNICS national at 93db. To give many of you who do not know, the stock Suzuki pipe with the cork out goes through sound at 101db.
With todays fourstrokes, sound is a big problem with local government and surrounding neighbors to the tracks. There are many pipe available today that are capable of producing MORE power, with less sound!
Any person, track, or sanctioning body can purchase a db meter for around $85
As for the BIG BORE and or STROKER application, this could be argued for days. I do believe if you are going to race a "PRO or PRO-AM" style class for money, then all of the AMA rules should apply. However, this rule should be made prior to the racing season, not changed mid season.

and while you can't say that one of the mods is in their back pocket, I do own the second engine that ATP built back in '05 that is still going strong.
and while I can't speak for the owner of the site, I would say that ATVFlorida.com looks out for their friends as well as paid advertisers.

No you haven't. We have paid for this custom design and is exclusive to ATP ONLY! You can not just log onto a graphic companies web site and add your name to our design.
Just to make sure our graphics are exclusive, I will be having dinner with G4 next week in Indy, just to make sure.
ATP is an innovative company that has not, does not, and will not copy ANY product or method of another company. We have our own methods, ideas, products and procedures. We take our own path, takes a bit longer, but better than taking a shortcut on someone else's.
Go hijack someone else's post.

Josh has by far broken every rule as an ATV motocross racer !! I have watched kids train their butts off for months on end and Josh rides for a week or two before a national, after having been out for better than a year if I remember right and places up front in his first returning National Pro-Am Race!!! Congratulations Josh, we wish you and the Baldwin team the best of luck this race season !!! Mike Walker ATP Racing Engines

These were made out of left over garbage from the space shuttle. From my calculations, the space shuttle makes around a MILLION HP, so if you subtract the drag coefficient from the total surface area of the plastics, add back the sonic wave pulse from the logo on your head, your looking at no less than 2 HP.

The timing map in the box was designed for a stock engine. The SRP and or Pro Comm boxes were also designed to specifically enhance the performance of a stock application. Once you make changes like increased compression or more efficient cylinder head air flow, you have to make adjustments to compensate for the increased performance.
As with any good build, be it ATV or Automotive , years of hands on experience, hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of R&D, tens of thousands of dollars worth of testing equipment, ( Dyno, Flow Bench, ect...) have taught us that not only using the best parts that the many different industries have to offer, the little things like tuning a quad properly, will not only yield the best possible performance, but will keep it running properly for many many hours.
A person can waist a lot of good money if they are unsure of what they want but really need, or if there builder does not have the proper equipment to do the job.
I hope all of my rambling will help you in one way or another. It is no secret that the YFZ's are probably the most prone to engine failure, but they can also be a good quad as well.

There are very few ways to keep a Yamaha engine together. Every YFZ engine that I have seen that has blown up has either only had some type of high compression piston and head work done, or has been completely stock and broken any way. Another major problem is the ignition timing, and when people add an aftermarket non programmable CDI box to the mix, either a piston pin, pin boss, connecting rod or rod bearing will fail.
We have worked with a few very well known aftermarket companies on what was causing the failures they were having with their YFZ engine kits.
We have a few yamahas running around the country that have had a couple of years on them with nothing but a re ring. These results have shown us that these engines need A LOT more bottom end work than they are getting.
The biggest problem is most people can't afford or flat out won't spend the money to put the proper parts and machine work in the engine to keep this from happening. As well, when you build a race engine even more so with the YFZ's you have to do a lot more costly maitenence to keep them tip top.

Because of Hazmat permitting I would have to use RL Gator freight and it would be cheaper to come here and get it.

Yes we can.
M1: 250.00 M3: 360.00 M5: 380.00
Same as C12, that includes freight and tax.
All the freight on this thread is based off of pallet pricing which is 4 drums per pallet for 70.00 freight. So in order to maintain these prices I need to get a combined order to support it.

I am putting in another big drum order for VP fuel. If you want to bite the buillet and get a drum to keep fuel costs down in the long run give me a call or PM.
VP C12 54gal drum is 450.00. (8.33 per gal) That includes all tax and freight here. You willl just need to make arrangements to pick it up from here. I need all orders and payment by end of day Friday 11/16. I will order it on Monday and will have it Tues or Wednesday. Please email for pricing if you are interested in any other VP fuels.

Our group will defiantly be making many more trips up to AMP for testing.
Hats off to Brett for all the hard work he has done in trying to give us a place to race.
Everyone, please keep up the support for the SSQSA, and support your local tracks and let them know that you appreciate them letting us use there facilities. I believe that our sport of ATV Racing in Florida has a great future instore.

Thank you guys very much.
It was a GREAT day for all of our customers/riders for sure. Many Holeshots and Many overal wins in a lot of classes.
If it wasnt for the great talent riding these quads, none of these quads would ever make it on the podium. A great rider makes the quad, not a great engine!
KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK EVERYONE !!!!!

General / Tech Corner / Re: Valve job
|
on: June 25, 2007, 04:07:47 PM
|
You might have to replace the exhaust valves at this point. The reason for that is that the YFZ has Titanium valves that can not be serviced if the seat face is damaged, but it would have to be inspected first to know if it needs valves or not. We can do the valve job for you. If you ship it to us or drop it by, we can turn it around in a day if it only needs a valve job. A competition valve job will run you $105.00 plus return freight if needed. ATP Racing 407-880-3171 atpracing@earthlink.net
