Is anyone going?
2  General / Tech Corner / Re: SPROCKETS AND CHAINS... on: July 17, 2007, 02:02:25 PM
Since nobody else has commented...

Keep the front sprocket the same.  Changes on the front make too big of a difference.  So make sure you know for sure what size you already have.  Your best bet is to leave them both as they are if you don't have any complaints with how it already feels in the trails.

If you're nearly stalling a lot, or trying to shift down when you're already in 1st, then add a tooth to the rear.

On the other hand, if you're coming out of corners and having to shift up really fast, or the rpms feel too high when you're in the corner or immediately after, then go down a tooth in the rear.  It will make it pull longer.

Most people will tell you to get a bigger rear sprocket for trails.  *Front sprocket sizes work in the opposite way than rear sprockets.  (ie: Going to a bigger front sprocket works like a smaller rear, and a smaller front sprocket works like a bigger rear.  But with more effect.)
3  General / Racing Scene / Track Conditions at Bartow? on: June 05, 2007, 10:59:55 PM
Last time I was at Bartow, they had nearly all of the track closed because of "sound problems".  Has anyone been there lately to see if the whole track is open again?

That's where I'm at right now...  How long did you wait before you rode again?
5  General / Racing Scene / Re: ATV Winter Olympics have have postponed till fulther notice!!! on: November 04, 2005, 09:39:43 AM
They say it's because of scheduling conflicts, but... FLMX is over, Gold Cup is over, FTR doesn't have a race that weekend and Gatorback doesn't have one planned for themselves either.  There aren't any other quad events going on that weekend.  I wonder if the "yet-to-be-released" ESPN series is the one with the conflicting schedule...

WHAT IS GOING ON IN  MACON IS IT A RACE AND WHAT KIND AND IS THS MACON GA.

It's the 4th ATVA MX national in Macon Georgia at Donny Banks' track.  It's a motocross event, every type of quad class, practice all day Friday and race motos split between Saturday and Sunday.  (This is a series that all the pros run.)

Yeah this'll be pretty neat to race at Glen Helen.  Jeffrey Rastrelli is having his quad brought over there, too, last I heard.  Thanks for wishing all us luck!

The first one's on the 22nd in Tampa.
9  General / Racing Scene / Re: mini quads for FTR on: November 10, 2004, 10:49:00 AM
The 200/300 class is probably more likely to happen if it's on the same gate as the quad womens' class since FTR is concerned about time.  Neither class gets huge entires so it probably wouldn't be a problem that way.  The race schedule wouldn't suffer whatsoever.  *Just pointing that out.*
10  General / Racing Scene / Re:  ATVS  AT HARDROCK on: August 24, 2004, 05:53:10 PM
I wasn't complaining about tracks being motivated by money, Doug.  That's completely understandable.  What I was saying is that if quads protest Hardrock's rules by not showing up for the FTR race it won't make an impact whatsoever because, as you pointed out, quads are not the majority.  The track should let quads practice Saturday before the FTR race for safety reasons.  If they don't, as I suggested before, FTR should not put Hardrock on their next schedule because some of it's members are being put in an unsafe position because of that track's rules.  At LEAST quads should be allowed to practice on that particular Saturday.  Maybe this topic should be brought up in an FTR forum instead, or brought to "FTR leaders'" attention.  If Hardrock (for whatever reason) does not want to have to "fix the track after quads" on a regular basis then keep quads out the rest of the year.  They really should be allowed to ride the track before the race though.
11  General / Racing Scene / Re:  ATVS  AT HARDROCK on: August 10, 2004, 09:35:26 PM
Couldn't the people running FTR do something about it if riders are going to be treated with bias and endangered?  I seriously find it unsafe to blindly race on a track that hasn't been practiced and I probably won't do it.  If a protest is made by not showing up nobody is going to care (or they'll be glad).  There aren't near enough quads to create an impact on the money that Hardrock makes and half the quads are going to show up anyways to benefit in points.  If I was in a close points race, I'd go.  So the only way Hardrock would pay any attention is if FTR said, "Hey, we aren't putting you on our schedule again next season since you're creating an unsafe situation for some of our members."  I doubt that Hardrock wouldn't care about that since the track can't possibly make much money during the year on practice days.  The tracks only care about profit.  Other than that, what kind of protest are you considering?  I can't say that I like to "stir things up" and drawing any negative attention to quads only makes people hate us more...
12  General / Racing Scene / Re:  ATVS  AT HARDROCK on: August 09, 2004, 09:16:28 AM
Hmm.  I wonder how I missed that...  (Was it a TBA on the initial schedule or something?)  So the Hardrock FTR race will be on a completely different track from the main one or did they add to it?
Any word on quads getting back on the main track for practice days or nights?  I guess Wednesday nights would be asking too much... those were the good ol' days though... all three of them...
13  General / Racing Scene / Re:  ATVS  AT HARDROCK on: August 07, 2004, 09:11:12 AM
Are they suprised they haven't had a good quad turnout?  Last I heard quads were banned from the whole place because of "insurance reasons".  I should get my money back for the membership I paid for a month before quads were kicked out.  The FTR MX series doesn't even go there this season and I heard that last season, quads weren't allowed to practice the day before the race... just race Sunday on a track that some people have possibly never ridden before...? That sounds risky to me.  I'd love to be able to ride the main track again and I'd go all the time if quads were allowed, although they probably wouldn't be happy to see me since I was one of the riders taken out in an ambulance.  Fun track though - tell them they should open it back up for quads.  Then their turnout will get better.

Is that including the main MX track?
