1  General / Open Discussion / Re: Meeting Notice! City of Palm Bay Florida. Old Compound area!! on: February 22, 2007, 09:34:29 PM
I received this email about this meeting Wed. the 21st. I know this is late notice but if anyone in the area can make the meeting please be there. There is a push on to get the City of Palm Bay to create a riding area in the old compound. The more people we have there the better.

Thanks.

!COMMUNITY VISIONING!

Meeting Notice
Saturday, March 3, 2007 - 9am to 2pm
Community Center - 1502 Port Malabar Blvd. NE

Come out and let the City of Palm Bay know that you think we need an Off-Highway Vehicle (OHV) Park!

>Do you or someone you know own an Off-Highway Vehicle (A.T.V., dirt bike, 4-wheeler, 3-wheeler), or did you or someone you know own one in the past or plan to own one in the future?

>Have you been harassed by local law enforcement officers or know of someone that has?

>Did you know that you are required to register your vehicle?

>Do you think that it is fair for the state to want you to register your vehicles while denying you the ability to ride and not providing legal public riding access?

>Did you know of the state law that would have allowed for ATVs to ride on dirt roads under 35 mph? Brevard County Commissioners opted out of allowing you this right.

>Do you think that something should be done to establish a recreational area for off-highway vehicles?

>If any of this applies to you, your family, your friends, or your neighbors, you need to get involved.  Attend the Community Visioning meeting and let the city know you want an area designated for the off-road vehicles.

An economic impact study conducted in 2006 for the Croom Motorcycle area in the counties of Hernando, Pasco, Citrus and Sumter indicates that from January 2006 through May 2006 the park provided positive economic impact for the surrounding communities by providing jobs, additional business income, and other benefits.

Each workshop includes informational sessions, brainstorming and various interactive planning activities so that no two workshop experiences will be the same. Join us for coffee and stay for lunch.

These workshops are a great opportunity for YOU to become involved in Palm Bay's future.
See you at the next workshop!

They have been driving them all over Palm Bay and the Compound for months. Of course they are all black with no names on them.

Huh With the way land prices have gone up in this state and the amount of money investers make when housing developements are put in, the taxes they collected from us when we registered isn't going to go far in purchasing the amount of land a good riding area would need.  Angry

One option a couple of friends and I were discussing was talking to St John's Water Management about putting a trail along the St. Johns river, but we never heard anything back from the letter that was sent in.  Roll Eyes

It's going to be a real uphill battle to get any decent riding areas in Florida.
5  General / Open Discussion / Re: Who on this forum has been riding ATV's the longest in Florida. on: December 07, 2005, 03:48:12 PM
Huh I started riding on a Bultaco 49 in 1976. switched to a Suzuki RM 175 in 1978. Did some riding in the 80's and early 90's, then got the Sportsman in 2003. So I guess I'm a rookie to ATV's. Undecided

Team_quad_green;

I was out there that Sunday. They were showing us how, where, and what for the parking area. We'll (the club) be doing the waiver signing again this year.

The trail is a good one. I saw only one spot that I see as a bottleneck. There's a couple of points that could be a problem if people don't watch out. A couple of spots my Sportsman barely squeezed thru.

See you there.

Per Apollo Motorcycle club they will not be accepting post entries. So if you want to go I suggest going to the web site to get the paperwork and send it in ASAP.

The circuit breakers for my 2002 are located under the front cover. But I don't think the 2005 models have circuit breakers. You can find out by going the the Polaris web site, sign up and you can view/download the manual for you ATV. It is in PDF format.

I had a similar problem but mine was the lights/kill switch control. I had to replace that. I've replaced both my circuit breakers (20amp and 10amp) just last summer. The circuit breakers reset themselves (at least mine did). As they heat up from use they will trip, kill the power to the ATV, after cooling off the reset themselves. I was losing my lights at night, they would start flashing then quit completely till I let the ATV set for a while.

You might want to check you CDI box and make sure you have a good connection there. My friend has a 2005 Sportsman 500 HO that died the first trail ride he did. He found a lose connector to his CDI box. Plus he did check all connections from the Battery to his Switch.

Hope this helps some. I would advise taking it to a good dealer if you cannot find the problem.
9  General / Open Discussion / Four-wheeling at Bull Creek on: June 09, 2005, 09:02:33 PM
I read this in the Florida Today June 8th.

Four-wheeling at Bull Creek will be one of the main topics discussed June 16 by a panel tasked with deciding how the public should use recreation areas along the St. Johns River.

The use of off-road vehicles at Bull Creek Wildlife Management Area is on the agenda of the St. Johns Water Management District's Southern Region Recreational advisory board public meeting on June 16, 2005. The meeting is from 3 to 5 p.m. at the Indian River County Commission Chambers, 1840 25th Street, Vero Beach. Call (386)329-4855.
