Tates Hell forest is just around the corner for us. 35MPH speed limit and your ATV must be titled and have a sticker in Florida. There is a daily permit as well as a $65.00 per person annual permit that allows riding in Croom, Apalachicola National Forest, Tates Hell, Ocala National Forest, Black water and other places. No alcohol is permitted. Must stay on trails. As long as you are a responsible rider the law men are ok.

I have found many scams similar to this on Craigs List. There have been some great excuses to get scammed from the lady that lost her husband to deployed in the military. Pay Google Checkout for a safe transaction, ETC. it is definitely B.S. If it is not a local deal where you can see it, or it does not have a title-RUN AWAY FAST!!!

General / Tech Corner / 2004 Polaris Scrambler 500 4x4 Premature belt failure
|
on: January 11, 2012, 02:04:56 PM
|
My sons Scrambler 500 4x4 is destroying the drive belt about every 100 miles. The belt surfaces are clean and not scored. The clutch linkages appear good. The belt deflection is almost 1 inch with a straight edge and the engine and transmission mounts are good. Is there something I am missing, or is there a better clutch kit/belt available for this machine? It has always seemed a little soft on belt engagement. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

We went riding just after Christmas to a great ATV off road park just outside Knoxville. This place has over 350 miles of trails from the beginner gravel roads to the most extreme requiring modified ATV's or rock crawlers. Terrain has everything from mud to rocks, creek crossings, extreme angle climbing and spectacular views. We started at about 1000 feet elevation and 50 degrees and wound up at the top at over 400 feet and 30 degrees with snow. There is also a wind farm generator located on top of the mountain. Everyone riding had alot of respect for the environment as well as each other. I would strongly recommend this place for a great adventure. It is located in Oliver Springs Tennessee at Windrock Mountain. Entry fee is $17.00 for all day riding including after dark. The offer discounts for multiple days or a yearly permit. They also have a campground and cabins that you can ride directly to the trail systems with your ATV's and off road vehicles. The phone number is (865)435-1251

General / Where to Ride? / ATV Riding and Camping Vernon, Florida

We have found a great RV park and campground in Vernon, Florida with 600 plus acres of great ATV and side by side riding trails with many miles of surrounding dirt roads. There are multiple lakes, (low water levels at this time), located all around the property. The beautiful Holmes Creek, additional lakes and boat ramps are nearby. There is also good fishing, bicycling, hiking and relaxation here. There are even horse pens and dedicated horse trails located here. There is a strict speed limit of 5 MPH in the campground area and a 10:00 PM quiet time, but the many trails can be rode responsibly and respectfully. When horses are present, please respect and do not spook the animals. Hell raising here will not be tolerated, but clean and great fun is encouraged. Following a few simple common sense rules here will assure many great camping and riding times for the future. This place is very lax for responsible people. Avoid the private and posted properties in the area and be respectful of the hunters on private land surrounding some of the property. Unfortunately there is no hunting allowed, but the abundant wildlife is astounding. The campground only charger $20.00 per night including water and electric, or $30.00 per night for concrete pads with 50 amp and sewer full hook up. There are also rental 2 bedroom 2 bath town houses and a cabin available on site. There are men and women bath houses and washing machines on the property. Reservations are recommended but most likely not necessary. The park managers Linda and Billy are great people. This is a family oriented quiet place that hosts quite a few events. This may be one of Vernon's best kept secrets. It is a little ways off the beaten path. Please respect each other and the environment here. This nice campground is quite private with very beautiful grounds with plenty of large oak trees and cypress. Contact Linda at (850)773-3992 and tell her Ron from RV Trax sent you from the ATV Florida club. The address is 3900 New Jerusalem Road Vernon, Florida 32462. Visit the website at www.thegrovesrvretreat.com/location.html Please be responsible and respectful so we all can enjoy now and in the future. Thanks.

General / ATV Activist / Land Closures

Unfortunately there are quite a few irresponsible riders and outdoor enthusiasts that do not respect the environment they visit. Here in the Florida panhandle, quite a few areas are being closed as well, because of litter and destruction of property. Unfortunately the private land areas to ride are best left a secret to avoid future closures. It is a damn shame that a few bad apples ruin it for everyone. I have gotten some land owners to allow riding when a volunteer clean up action of illegal dumping on their land has taken place. Lack of respect and lawsuits have created many of the land closures over time.

We just finished an exciting ATV trip to Oliver Springs Tennessee at the Coal Creek Company off road park Phone # (865)435-1251. This park has hundreds of miles of off road trails from the beginner gravel roads to trails requiring modified ATV's and extremely experienced riders. This place is located at Windrock Mountain that even has wind farm generators at the top. There is a lot of creek crossings, rock climbing, steep grades, and spectacular views. We started at the bottom at about 50 degrees and wound up at the top at 30 degrees with snow and ice. What a blast. This park is set up for ATV's, side by sides, 4 wheel drive and extreme rock crawler action. It is well organized and everyone seems to respect the environment and each other. The entry fees at $16.00 for adults is very reasonable. There is a campground and cabins available that you can ride directly to the many trails. If we had this in our back yard, I believe it would be a blast wearing out a new machine every other month. I have ridden at Croom which is a lot of fun, but now, after this place, it is like previously scuba diving in the Bahama's and now the only place to dive is in the swimming pool.

Florida is now requiring all ATV's sold in Florida to have a title, so if you ever plan to sell the ATV without a title, repercussions may be possible.
