General / Racing Scene / Re: Ronnie Hopkins passed away

I haven't been on here in years. But I was made aware of Ronnie's passing this morning in a call from Mike Lupo. Its a sad sad day. I remember meeting Ronnie in Hernando one weekend when a bunch of us were out climbing hills. We were over at the wall and Jerry and Shawn had convinced me I could climb the wall. Here I am, very afraid of heights, Im like ain't no way am I doing that!! But I did it any way. So here comes this guy on this tricked out tri-z he tells lupo that he is 45 years old and doesn't do those kinda things anymore.. Lupo looks at him with this grin and says Frank is 45 and he just did it. Thats all it took! Ronnie hit that hill on his tri-z and off he went. I was amazed at the things that man could do on a 3 wheeler. Thats the day I learned of the legend of Yamahondaman!! There was no one like Ronnie.. The man could climb straight up a 75' hill with one hand on the throttle and a Bud Light in the other!! Never ever saw him mad or angry. Just always had this big grin on his face. Would do anything to help anyone. We got into sanddrags. There was 5 of us with banshee's all done up in Tribal flames. He start calling us the Tribals and it stuck. That Name even became popular on planetsand. The man was known all over the united states in the sanddrag racing circles due to the killer cnc parts he would custom make. No one made better looking adjustable struts than Ronnie. There aren't to many people I look up to in atving, But Ronnie,Jerry,Shawn and Mike Lupo are the best!! Ronnie you will best missed my brother but you will never be forgotten.. Go ride high up that Mountain my Brother!! RIP YAMAHONDAMAN!!!

Hello all.
I had spacers put in C4/C5 and C6/C7 a plate with some screws. I will invest in a neck doughnut. Any other thoughts?
I have a titanium plate and 6 screws in my neck. 13 years now, It hasn't effected me at all during atving.. And we have done some pretty extreme riding. I have had a couple of pretty nasty spills riding. Stay away from the persciption drugs. Never did them never will. When Im having a bad day just pop a couple of advils. They work for me. And Im 49 years old. This screwed up weather bothers me more than anything else. And when someone ask me if I have a screw loose, I point to my neck and say yeah, This one right here... Hope this is some help...

RTR, I was 37 when I had to have 2 levels in my neck fused together. C5,6 and 7. I have a Titanium plate and 6 screws in my neck. Mine was do to the fact that I basically broke my neck in 1995. I had a lot of pain and in the neck and down both arms. very weak couldn't lift heavy at all. but after the surgery and PT, I was as good as before if not better. Don't get me wrong, there is good days and bad days. But I don't let it beat me. I have never taken meds, I have seen to many people become dependent on them. It will control your life if you let it. I worked out at the gym with Mike Lupo (AKA Tribal Banshee) And was stronger than I ever was. I used to go to the secret riding place with the guys and climbed some of the craziest hills there. I'm no Jerry Corne, But neither is anyone else. I'm 49 now and still don't think twice about something if I want to do it I do it... If it were the back thats a different story. Point I'm trying to make is you don't have to stop doing what you love doing. Anything will beat you if you let... I was doing the sand drag thing for awhile. And could ride with the best of them. Problem is old farts like me have slow reaction times Good luck Bro, Hope I didn't bore anyone. Just trying to shed a little lite on the matter from some one thats been there....

I know Don. No offense taken. I was just talking to an old friend the other day. I was telling him the difference between the crazy azz hill climbing we all use to do and the drag racing. When we were hill climbing in the secret place, everyone was there to help each other. We would spot people we didn't even know, Just to see them make it up some crazy azz hill. Thats how I met Troy. At croom. You would just pull for them to make it up and be there in case something went wrong. And do whatever you could to insure there safty. But the sand drag thing is every man for them selfs. I guess thats the biggest difference. Oh well, Didn't mean to hijack this thread. Take care. Got to get some sleep. You know the crazy schedule Im on.

There seems to be a little misunderstanding or some bad info going on here. First let me say congrates to everyone and Jeff. Sounds like the New track was a hit!! Congrates to Lupo, I heard he held his own in the heavy hitters class. Not to bad for a motor that has been setting on a bench for a year. And Tony with all the problems he was having gave the big boys all they could handle. Don pretty impressive for the first time out. Troy thats a sick looking bike! Im mean that in a good way. The comment about the tribals abanding Lupo kinda hit a nerve with me. I was the one who was going to GA. month after month solo to race and keep the interest going. I had ask all of you on several occasions to go to GA. but it just didn't work out. Smoke is the only one who made it up. But after months of doing it on my own it just got to costly. I offered to go in with Lupo after I sold my bike And buy a drag chassis after the deal I had on here with some one else went bad. But I didn't feel like I could get a real comitment from Mike. And that is fine. I understand he had a lot of other things on his plate at the time. I haven't heard from anyone on here in along time, Except for my little buddy Tony I always had fun with all of you guys when we were racing. But sometimes it just got to personal. To the point that I was starting to develope a dislike for some. And that really sucked because thats not who I am. Racing in general can cause a lot of bad feelings between even the best of friends if you dont keep in perspective. And for that reason I walked away before I started hating the guys I knew I really liked hanging around with. Some times friendships are more important than winning a race. I wish all of you the best of luck and have no bitter feelings towards any of you. Your all a bunch of great guys, I just felt it was important set some things straight. Who knows, I may show up in the heavy hitters class one day Im sure Tony has a seat for me Good luck and be safe guys!!

Wrong again! I dont own a bike anymore. And dont care to. I have no interest in this sport anymore and never will. RACE ON GUYS!! However I do enjoy reading some of the funny things that are posted on here. Jeff, Looks like you are doing an Awesome job on the track. Keep up the hard work. I may show up as a spectator on occasion but thats it. Smoke, How did you do in the outlaw class in waresboro on the 7mil cub? I didn't see your results there. I only read the 4.20 et results. See Ya Guys. And again good luck with the new track.

That is true Smoke. And I didn't post that to start any sh!t. And I do agree about Jeff and them. If they were the same weight, But they are not. And that was the point I was trying to make. I never said their bikes weren't going to be fast. I believe their bikes are going to be bad azz. So lets not turn th!s into something else. And for a couple of years now all you have said is Troy this and Troy that. So to get on here and post how we are always talking about Tony, Go back and look at a lot of your post Nothing but love Bro! And as for My self, I dont even have a bike any more. But thats not for long. Lupo and I will be putting something together here shortly that will be Off the hook. I promise you kow one around here has one. And we will ride it and run anyone!!!

you guys worship tony....tony is good, won't take that away from him, but by god he is not unbeatable...I have beat tony, tony has beat me....i will tell you this, I want tony first round of any race I enter, cause I am not scared.... You crack me up smoke, We dont worship Tony. But do admire his ability to tune a bike and ride like a mofo! Not to mention he is a friend. But worshipping Tony is a heck of alot better than eating cheeto's out of Cuts back side. And I disagree with you. Tony is unbeatable as far as any of us. He is running 3.7's None of us on our own bike's can or will run those kinda times. We all weigh 90 to 160lbs more than he does. And if you think you or anyone else on their own bikes can run those times than your on crack!! I have been 4.0's and Lupo has been 4.1's None of you all have done more than 4.4's at best. I know Troy,Don and Jeff are building some nice bikes. But reality is they will not run 3.7's with them on them. If you think Im wrong, "PROVE IT"

I am DONE!! Trust me. I get absolutely no pleasure out of spending money on something that just occupies space in the garage. I have tried to get back into it and get my tribal boys into it with me, But there is just no interest anymore. Shoot! all I need is to hook up the rad. hose's and mount the tank and plastic and Im there. But I dont have the desire to even go out to the garage to do 45mins worth of work and its done. I will keep tabs on you guys. I dont have to own one to be entertained!!

I will be back up and running by then alex. Actually we should be there for the Oct. races. Last time you had the 2 day event, It was a blast. Come on guys, Even if your drag bikes aren't ready, This race is a blast for all. Alex correct me if Im wrong; But the winner of the $1400.00 last time was on a 400ex. Right? And I know a couple of utilitie's went to the semi's, right? So you dont have to have a drag bike To win and have fun. And theres plenty of room for camping. Think about guys, You will have a blast. Its been along time since we have all gott'n together and done some racin and just had fun together. And its plenty of notice Troy, Don, Jeff, Chillin, Ronnie, Lets roll guys. I know the TRIBE!! will be there. Remember you dont have to have a drag bike to win. Sh!t Im even bringing a utility with me this time.
