I have been a Polaris tech and service manager for 20 years . flat rate has always been 1 hr plus parts. parts would be $50.00 max. should be around $125.00 to $ 150.00. worst case . if it needs anymore than that, the carb would more than likely need replacing.most techs will spend a lot of time trying to repair when they should replace. What was the problem with it to start with. most dealerships would warranty a repair for at least 30 days and some will go 90 days.

Try Dirty Foot Adventures, their a first class act. Jay Man does it right. to bad people can't act right to try and prevent these things from happening . that could have something to do with the fact that there are no more mud trucks at dirty foot. and those guy's never caused any problems. But when you have that image, It stick's with you. It seems to be great at first, then others start hearing about it and then here comes everybody, Hope we have that problem at dirty foot. everybody showing up that is.

General / Tech Corner / Re: carb problems on a Polaris

Before you take the carb off try this, on most of the sportsman models, there is a hard plastic piece in the intake boot to keep the filter from collapsing when tightning the clamp , and it will turn side ways and restrict the air flow. take the filter off and run your fingers in the boot to ck. Polaris will not rev with the air filter out and the lid removed unless it is to rich. also sometimes the spring in the slide will bind up and the slide wont raise up to take in air. this is common when backing up and not using the over ride button and the engine back fires, blowing off the spring.

There are 2 things that control the bottom end, the pilot jet and the needle position. and as a Carb wears it will need different adjustments, also depending on engine mods. we run a #50 pilot and adjust the needle up, putting the clip down to bring the needle out of the jet holder until the hesitation is minimal. remember as the engine heats up the richer it get , and summer is just around the corner. if you still have trouble, give me a call. i will be glad to do it for you. Rick Todd @ RTR PERFORMANCE ENGINES. 863-512-6096.I an located in Bartow near the Bartow moto cross. PS as far as the fuel mixture screw settings any thing over 3 turns are not affected , as long as it idles fine and the head pipe don't glow within the first 5 min that part is good. Ck us out @ rtrperformanceengines.com.
