Title: Should I buy a croom pass?
Post by: mikeE36 on December 29, 2005, 11:14:36 PM
I have a crf 230 dirt bike, Should I buy a croom pass or stick with the spot close to me.  I found when I went to croom that i liked my friends quad better then the bike. I'm just tired of the northport trails and kind of want to go somewhere else a few times. I was planing on the yacapan but i heard its getting shut down. God I wish florida had some legal cool places or that croom had a one day pass because i dont have much money and will probably only use it 3 or 4 times at best.

Even if you only use the Croom pass 5 times a year, that comes out to $10 a day trip.

Pretty fair...and it helps show the state that riders are willing to pay to use a legal and regulated park to ride. They may see the need of opening additional type parks elswere in the state.  :ThumbsUp.gif

If you do use your local place...keep it quiet and out of public view. The Yucca pen will prolly be off limits for a while due to all the activity so close to Burnstore and houses. (yet there were hundreds of acres deeper in and away from public view or hearing) :banghead.gif

be safe and take care :T

For a bike Croom isn't the best place. Too much sugar sand IMO. Try to find someplace closer to Northport. Or try down south.  -Mark

I disagree. I was just there Thursday and there are alot of trails that are only wide enough for 2 wheels. In fact there were still  makers out from the last FTR event there. Seemed like a fun course to ride a dirt bike.

I would also look at the cost per trip and consider that a day pass would cost at least $10, if not more. Whwn I go to Windrock the day passes are $15. A 3 day trip costs nearly as much as Croom.

I'd ride there any day of the week, sugar sand isn't a problem if you know how to ride in it. Although it probably way more fun on a racing bike due to the pit (jumps and stuff) and all the whoops (race bikes make blitzing natural whoops so easy). It all depends on if you want to. I still spend money every year to ride there allthough I only go there probably twice per pass just because its a nice break from ONF. I know some REALLY cool spots near my house that are still going only around 5-10 people know about these spots but I can't give out any information on them. If you look you can find some pretty cool spots, we've found a really cool pit and a spot were we have legal access once we asked so don't be discouraged from finding a new spot to ride, there are still a few gems out there.

Can you elaborate on your comment?
At least it is a legal  place to ride.  I would like to see other similiar type parks open in this state .

( If you build it, they will come) 8)

Outlaw went to a tirade a few months back on how Croom sucks and they should put gravel down instead of sand and just went on and on, just generally annoying the he** out of everyone. Just a little tongue-in-cheek reminder to him.

I think the money is well worth to ride at Croom. And can be fun on both a four-wheeler or dirt bike :)

Thanks for the welcome GPS,  :T

I should have searched before I asked.  Its just I am ready to make my first trip to Croom. I will have to travel about two hours there. Prolly will try to make a weekend out of it.  I just want to know as much as I can about the place. I guess since I am new to this, even a bad place is a good place for me. ;)
