Title: Be very careful of what you video tape, it might come back to bite us. Post by: Pastense on December 28, 2005, 11:29:33 AM I read a post here were someone had recently complained about the fact that there were riders drag racing, and riding illegally on paved roads, without helmets to boot. Another member had suggested the idea of video taping said activities and delivering them to the proper authorities. While at first glance this seems like a proper course of action, you must understand the mindset of elected officials. Deep down inside, most elected officials are good and decent people that are trying to do their best for democracy (believe me, I know what I am talking about). As all of you should recall from you're civic courses in a democracy the majority rules. Actually, the majority of the voting public rules. Unfortunatley for us, we do not have a large organized voting base or, for that matter, a very vocal voting base. On the other hand, understanding that Americans tend to complain rather loudly when they feel something is wrong, our opposition (mostly typical homeowners) tend to have a significant voting base. If you take this information and process it correctly you can determine that a video tape you intended to help our cause could easily end up in a session of congress (state) being played in order to prove that more laws must be enacted in order to "stem the tide of reckless juviniles". By the way, congess loves to hear the word "juvenile". To them its a win, win situation. If they protect children in any form their guaranteed a certain pecentage of votes. A picture may be worth a thousand words............just rember that those words may be good or bad. Title: Re: Be very careful of what you video tape, it might come back to bite us. Post by: Dr.Dirt on December 28, 2005, 11:32:28 AM I can see the reason for your concern, but that post Dreth made is like a year old and he was not serious.
Title: Re: Be very careful of what you video tape, it might come back to bite us. Post by: Pastense on December 28, 2005, 12:02:26 PM Well see know, thats why I never became a police officer. My attention to detail (or lack there of, obviously) led me to one of the other branches of the government instead. However, as "ze Dr." did mention the post is still quite valid in its intent.
