Post by: klutchbuster400 on December 26, 2005, 12:15:20 AM
ok, i have the oppurtunity to get a very nice z400 at a good price, only thing is the guy doesnt have the title, but he's willing to do a bill of sale.
buy it???
i doubt ill find another deal like this ever.
i greatly doubt its stolen. the opwner said he lost the title, anyway he can get another one if he is the first owner?

Sounds fishy. What year and how much?
Sounds like he may still owe on it and doesn't plan on paying the bank off. I'd tell him to produce a title or no sale.If he lost it then he can get it reissued.

Does the guy seem fishy to you? Is he older? I mean you can sometimes just by looks and the way hes acting if hes fishy or not.

I've seen too many ppl do things on a bill of sale only.  I wouldn't go for it until he can get a replacement title.  You also my want to check the vin of the quad.  There's a place in the classified section about that.  Be very careful....if it seems too good to be true it probably is.  I know you are excited to get a quad but buyer beware.  Nice guys can be scam artists too.  I'd hate for you to buy this guys quad and try to apply for a title to only find out it was stolen.

he has no prob. telling me the vin # when he gets home since he's currently out of town. i figure i can run the vin and see if its stolen or if he owns anything on it, if nothing wrongg tand my dad gives the ok, i may just go for it.

Do not buy it, he can go to the clerks office and they will issue him a duplicate title on the spot. I would hate to see you lose several thousand dollars. Even if the vin checks out and it has not been reported stolen yet, it can be reported later and your out a quad and cash. It happened to me. I purchased one and the owner did not realize that the quads and dirtbikes was stolen until a week later because she had them stored at a relaitves house. She got her quad back and I never got my money back. I will never do that again.

I know the kid, it isnt stolen. But like everyone said, it isnt hard to go get another title if he already has had one. All he has to do is show proof of ownership and he should be able to walk out with it.
