Post by: floutlaw1 on December 11, 2005, 02:23:31 PM
My Dad and I are working together to fix my lakota. We need help where the front sprocket bolts on oil is comming out. There is a small round spring that was behind the sprocket that was not there before. We are working together to repare the bike and dont want to take it to get fixed. Need to know what the name of the seal and the spring and how it is put on.....

Sounds like you need a countershaft oil seal, the spring you are refering to is part of the seal.

Thanks toy doctor, I tried your web site, would not load. Is that the seal behind the sprocket, if so thats the one.

You can try digging-out the old one and pressing a new one in(if you have the correct-sized oil seal press). If that works, great. If it doesn't, that because the inner oil seal might be bad, too.

first there is only one seal on  the out put shaft  and you will have to split the cases to  change it  this is not a hard job  but is a lot of work  if you have not done this befor :(
