Anybody use them?  Like them? Love them? Hate them?

What model Rino do you have?

i like mine, have the 210? i think, map is kind of small but it's not too bad.

was considering buying two, one for the wife and me.  Models 520 and 130

I don't have one yet.  I'm currently using another type GPS but after seeing what these do I'd like to get a couple.

They work great on our group rides.  Ppl in front and back of the line have them and if we get separated they can click each other.  Even if the other doesn't respond you will get coordinates on the location of the leader.

May also work well to hide in the car when you send your teenager out to check up on them...j/k.  There are a few ppl on here that have them not sure who all they are but they all have recommended them to me.

appreciate the info..i'm getting them at vendor cost.  so i'm getting them no matter what, i just wanted to see what people had to say about them.

I don't know about the Rino model, but I have a GPSMap 76S and I could do without it.  I personally think that GPS collection and data transfer is far superior on a Garmin that any other company on the civilian market.  Granted thats not as important on a Quad drudging through trails at 10 miles an hour as it is to a go fast cruising at 60 miles an hour in Biscayne Bay on a pitch black night, but it still shows you that to Garmin accuracy and speed are key.

I have three...two 130's and one 120. They are very handy, particulary because they can transmit your position to other Rino users. My son and I have gotten separated several times and we have used this feature to find each other. I got RAM handlebar mounts for them from www.cyclegadgets.com and they work well except that the retaining button in the back of the Rino tends to pull out after hard riding. I glued mine back a few times with JB weld but it kept on breaking (always tie wrap the lanyard to your handlebars so u dont lose the unit!) so I put a tie wrap around the Rino and the cradle mount and that seems to hold it all together. I also got Motocomm helmet headsets with push-to-talk buttons but have not tried them yet. Battery life is short (3 batteries ~ 1.5 days of riding) and you should put dielectric grease between the batteries and terminals or the vibration will kill the terminals. A 12V adapter would be the best solution. Range is pretty limited with the 110-130 (2-5 miles if u r lucky). Garmin has just come out with more powerful Rinos (520 and 530) that they claim have a 14 mile range (check out www.cabelas.com). I hope this helps.

Congrats. I think u will be happy with them. RAM mounts are the best I have found but I recommend that you epoxy the button to the back of the unit because the screw insert will pull out. Also, wrap a zip tie around the top of the unit/cradle to take the load off the button. Here's a photo of my setup.
