Title: DVX 400 likes to idle at 6000 rpms!!!! Post by: clancooler on December 02, 2005, 09:39:18 PM today i went to ride my bike around the yard and it kept stalling, so i took the carb apart and found it was jet that was clogged so i sprayed some carb cleaner in it and cleared it. i put everything back together and fired it up and it started. except instead of idleing at the normal 1600 rpms, it idles at 6000rpms. i tried to adjust the idle, and nothing affected the rpms. what are some leads, i know to check the cables and etc.

If it's not that then I can't imagine what it could be. I know you say you checked the throttle but have you tried backing it off a few turns. It's not always something that can be seen with the eyes, doesn't take much.

bluesman i got the pm, i will call you tommorow if i cant figure it out. Most likely i will go over atvtrailers place tommorow if hes not doing anything and see whats going on. Post by: clancooler on December 03, 2005, 12:26:45 PM its not my carb i took it apart and took checked all my cables,choke, jets and float, needle, etc!!! its got to be the cdi!! now i have to test it and dont know where to do that, or know anyone with a z400, kfx, or dvx.

The cable was too short, and couldnt lengthen it any longer, so me and atvtrailer rigged something up (thanks to Mr. JB Weld). |
