Title: Blaster oil pump failure
Post by: nobodyshome on November 27, 2005, 09:44:17 PM
My blaster's motor nearly seized this weekend. It lost power and stalled and then it wouldn't stay running. It felt really rough/hard when kick starting. Dad pulled the spark plug and was able to turn over the engine ok. He restarted it but shut it down immediately because no smoke came out of the exhaust.

We suspect that the oil pump failed although the engine has less than 60 hours on it. Dad shot some WD40 down the plug hole and the engine spins ok but we are going to tear it down to look for damage. We plan to pull the top end off to check piston, rings and bore. Should we split the case to check the bottom end?

Also, if we need parts who do you recommend? Trenga Racing and Vito's Performance advertise blaster parts...any experience with them?

Thanks.

geta four stroke ;), what year is it, i think newer blasters have some sort of shut off when the pump fails so i think your engine should be ok, but hey, better safe then sorry right. ;)

throwing that crap away should be your 1st modification on a blaster, just mix your fuel.

Yes you're right its time for the oil pump block-off kit and pre-mix. Just a day late and a dollar short. :'(
