Title: HATS OFF TO THE PEOPLE OF TAMPA BAY AREA
Post by: Chuck_Norris on November 10, 2005, 09:05:43 AM
Hats off the the partents that addressed the Tampa Bay School Board with the traditional and Christian holidays being recognized
Members spoke up saying the simply calling it winter break is unacceptable. One man went as far as say"If either of you on the panel call yourself a Christian your need a spiritual recheck."so with that being said it is once again recognized as Christmas break and Easter Break. if anyone as the new clip post it up.

Amazing.  Do you think that if I moved to Saudi Arabia and I complained that the schools there did not celebrate Christmas or Hanukkah that they should just remove their holidays as well?  I would probably get shot on the spot.

If I move to another country, why would I expect that everyone there should change to accommodate MY language and MY traditions?

People are too worried about "offending everyone" here in the US.  Pretty soon everything will be so generic that we will have no culture left anymore.

And just imagine. This all stems from not recognizing a muslim holiday. WERE NOT IN THE MIDDLE EAST!!!!!!!  I for one am really getting sick of all of this "lets not offend them" CRAP. Wanting to force us to recognize there holiday is CRAP! Complaining about racial profiling when it absolutely reduces the risk of a terrorist threat is CRAP! A lenghty / costly trial for the college professor charged with aiding terrorists is CRAP!  Lets get back to our roots and remember what religion this country was founded on. I really don't want to come across sounding like a racist and I hope that I don't but I can honestly say that if I boarded a plane and it had several younger middle eastern men scattered through out I would most likely catch another flight especially if I was flying with my family. Does that make me a racist or cautious? I also think the season ticket holder that made the county put a hold on searches prior to entering Raymond James is an idiot. The searches are just another safe guard that"again" had to be implemented to reduce the chances of another terrorist attack. These are all direct results from the 911 attack. These are just the facts in the world we now live in. In closing I would just like to say" IF YOU DON'T LIKE OUR LAWS OR RULES HERE THEN HIJACK THE NEXT PLANE BACK TO YOUR SAND PIT!!!!

its good to see people standing up for what they believe in, more people need to do that.  it seems like people are scared to do so.

Screw them all. I pray for the day someone tries to correct me when I say Merry Christmas. I'm so glad that they didn't change it. This country was founded on christianity and by god (no pun) we are going to stick to it. I'm not a bible thumper, but I can't stand it when some kaleb or whatever comes in my country asking to change something that has been here since 1776. F*&^ that.   Where the hell is the backbone this country once had?????????????????  -Mark

and for the record, I'm not a republican.  ;)

You wanna hear something funny. I was on a plane flying to Vegas 10 days after 9/11. You could of heard a pin drop on the plane. And when someone stood up or got up to use the bathroom, EVERYONE on that plane was watching that person. I told my wife (honeymoon), that if some towel head gets up and makes any type of threat, I was 100% sure I was getting up and beating some ass.  I left my seat belt unbuckled and fist clinched.  I'm sure I wasn't the only person that had this mindset. From that day forth, I told myself I will not just be a bystandard and sit and watch if I see any confrontation, I'm dropping bombs on them. Or try to be the mediator and break it up.  God bless America!  :ThumbsUp.gif   -Mark

In my house it will always be Merry Christmas not Merry xmas. It will always be " One nation under god". It will always be God bless america. It will always be in god we trust. As a matter of fact it will always be good god all mighty and holy moly.LOL. The day they take ' one nation under god" out of the pledge of allegiance and the day they stop recognizing our traditional holidays is the day I start home schooling my daughter. Weather people realize it or not a school is a profitable institution. Books, lunches, government assistance, donations, fund raisers, fees for renting instruments, admissions to school activities , school pictures and yearbooks etc etc. There's a mark up on almost everything. Besides the historical implications and the constitutional right there is also the threat of home schooling and the ramifications of such that keep the communists at bay. Alright it's starting to sound like a political debate so I'll stop now. America the beautiful. Love it or leave it!!!!!!!!!

always been a thorn in my side to hear someone say "happy holidays" until someone explained to me that it was a generic well-wish due to Christmas and Hanukkah and Kwanza being so close in date to one another.

I tend to think that it's more of a "don't wanna offend anyone" thing.

Even my former employer is having a "Holiday Gala" instead of a "Christmas Party" like they had two years ago.

Almost glad they layed me off now that I think about it, they were getting too big.

I'm not a full blooded American, my Mother was from Thailand. I still respect this countries foundation and consider myself an American. But when you let so many people into this country, after so many years of hardship in their countries, they get use to this good life and start to take advantage of what they are given.
Standing up for your rights is what everyone should do if your in your rights. I also don't think anyone should be upset by what they tried to do...ignorance is expected when you have so many other cultures trying to live where they shouldn't !!
My appreciation is given to those who work to keep this country what it is...American!!
