Title: Wilma. Who has power?
Post by: PureLogic on October 24, 2005, 01:09:30 AM
Well here we go again. Like “Biggy” (RIP) sang “And Another One”. I Got everything up and ready to go. Just waiting for Wilma To  “BRING IT ON”. Got the genny all ready and went a step further and hopefully everybody else will take my advice. I bought 2 Carbon monoxide detectors and I put one in the kitchen/den and the other in the entrance to the bedrooms. I think that investment was better than the generator itself. So BigDaddy Gery350 Kluchbuster  and everybody else I have forgotten please keep us posted.

I will continue to post as long as I have power. I don't have a generator because my dad said we don't need one, but I understand that because we are on the same power grid as the only police station in Cape Coral so we get power back pretty quickly.

6:00 am from Miami, winds blowing at 50+ mph. few trees down, power keeps cut on and off. But very little rain so far. MrsPureLogic, Carbon monoxide detectors are a great idea. I have two; one in the kitchen and the other one in the bedroom, closest to the outside house genterator.

seconded with what Mike said above,,,,,I also got a 3 bedroom house that has a double bed and a single bed available for anyone who needs it.

in deltona,,,,nothing but some wind-blown rain,,,no power flickering,,,but I'm way out of the path of this thing.

LOL  We have plenty if you need some!  LOL

After experiencing Hurricane Andrew (in Broward County).....this is much worse!  Our house is (was) white....but with all the debris flying.....especially trees, leaves, etc.....we have a green tint on the house, followed by a lovely decor of leaves covering the bottom half of the walls.  Someones recycling bin is wrapped around the speed sign in our yard.  The neighbors Palm Tree broke in half (not those short palms....those tall, thick palms that are native to South Florida) and it's sitting in our driveway about 3 feet from my car.  I could SWEAR my car moved.....(Toyota Corolla)...so not completely impossible right?  Purelogic can't sit still, has worn a path from the front door to the back door.  Looking out the back window...seeing my neighbors shingles blowing in the wind.  Purelogic saw a piece of someone's roof flying down the street.  But I think the worst if over (?) the eye is just about over us now.  The 2nd half of the storm shouldn't be so bad.  We'll see.   :ouch.gif

I am glad everyone is ok despite the damage. We did not go without damage. We had about a 2 foot branch fall and break a terracotta pot, lol. Guess we got lucky. The lord knew we had enough last year with the "BIG 3." It is still quite windy out right now, porbably around 35-40mph, with higher gusts. SO.FL. crew is in our prayers.

hi guys. god bless to everyone. not to brag or anything but i will also get power back very quickly, since i live right next to a popular intersection in nsb. (where s.r.44 and s.r.415) theres also a race track on the northwest side, and a popular gas station on the south west side. we have 3500 watts worth of portable power if something does go wrong. kua says only about 40 houses without power.

be safe

Well I walked outside the toyhauler is still in the up right position but it is camouflaged with leaves and debris. Picking up all different color shingles from all around. Ran into my neighbor and he showed me 3 huge fichus/fuchus trees are down in the road and a palm tree from the other direction so I am completely isolated for the time being. But life is good praise the lord!!!

Lots of generators still left in Tampa area. I grew up in Ft.Lauderdale & still have some family there. I wish you all the best. If anyone needs generators, we have some Honda's from 1000 watt up to 7000 watt & Briggs & stratton type 5500's still in stock. 813-677-0326. Riverview, FL, just s.e. of Tampa, right on I-75.

Just got power back in West Broward. Other than that, we were the luckiest family in our community. All we lost was our satellite dish, but, I put one of my spares up the next day and was on generator. For those of you who do not live in Broward County, it's a real mess. There are no street lights hanging, anywhere, and still no gas. Even with the power back on, it's still pandemonium on the streets. Unbelievable amount of debris and neighbors with no roofs on their homes. That was only a Cat 2 that hit, so you can imagine what a 4 or 5 would have done.

Hell, I live 80 miles north of you Mr & Mrs Logic, and I have no power either... Generators are fine for camping, but I am ready for a hot shower. Cold showers when it's in the 50's every morning suck!

Hey Kawgirl, I've been trying to call you back... There is gas up here in Ft. Pierce. I only had to wait 30 minutes this morning... Glad your work is ok. How about the house? We're fine.. no power, but other than that, no problems at home. My office in pompano is another story.. 3/4 of our roof is destroyed, got power yesterday, but no phones or water still. So I am running the phones and internet from home. Then again, I kind like this work from home gig... The boss can't see me putting that new front differential in the Grizzly!  ;)

Sorry about your office, I also heard that all the tomato growers lost there crops too  :( How did Erins dad make out?
We had no damage to the house or anything else  ;D No power but we have water and phones  :ThumbsUp.gif

We fire up the portable 15,000w'er and heat up the water for the showers  :o But can't run that thing all the time...it sucks up the gas.  We run the small one for everything else ;)
It's so nice out, I'm glad we don't need A/C  :P

Erin's dad was set to start picking in Ft. Pierce next week. They are gonna salvage whatever they can, but about half of the 750 acres is wasted. His brand new farm over in Naples is toast. It was about ready to start picking too. The farm in Broward was just planted, so they think it'll be ok. The other farms in Palm Beach and Ft. Pierce aren't planted yet. Let's just pray for no more storms!  >:(

I got my power on Tuesday night out here in royal palm. still alot of folks without. Been taking down shutters and trying to save my gas. Went to Walmart today and got a hot 1/4 w/cheese from McDonalds. Anyone out there want to come over for a cold beer and a hot shower and whatever else I gots, except the old lady,is welcome!  I had about 30 barrel tiles fly off my roof. a couple hit my truck. Some others in the hood had more serious problems. I think I was lucky.

again - hot shower, cold beer, bring it!

I do not have power  ???

The power poles laying on the road next to mine, probably has something to do with it.

You got to love the generators !!!

We survived !!! :ThumbsUp.gif

Many of my neighbors lost everything. We were blessed. Hope to ride soon.
