I just looked at the news and they said Wilma was a Cat. 5 with 175mph winds.   They say its heading somewhere in south florida.  Hope everyone get's out of harms way.

It wouldn't be a bad idea for everyone to print out the "nextel radio rescue numbers" at the top of open discussion. This would be good to have just in case there is cell service after the storm goes through.

The only positive I can see from this is work might be cancelled on Saturday but hopefully not any days after that.

That center line goes right over us (on the East Coast) :( hopefully it will die down before it hits land, If it comes in south of Naples and goes across the Everglades and farms thats not much to knock it down.  It will march across the state in a Fury >:(

I'm with you on that one .... Except I don't think it's gonna be that bad by the time it hits here... It may be jsut a bunch of rain.... but then again I think it's going to turn & go towards the Gulf Coast .... ( Wishful thinking I guess ) .... Either way... Ok so maybe things aren't lookin soo good.... As of the 11am advisory it looks like it's gonna make landfall mid-day on saturday .... So much for going towards the gulf coast ....  >:( I have better things to do than put up my damn hurricane shutters !

Hey Kawgirl... Is it me or did that 11:00 advisory track take a tick further to the north? Right over my house now too... dammit man! I am not looking forward to living on a generator again!

As far as the generator goes we got that 15,000 watt this year  ;D But still need to wire up the plug  :( I know what Jeff's doing after work  ;)

Great the morning I decide to sleep in and this is what i wake up to!!  This is scary stuff, I live in naples in a house built in the early eighties!!  It's a wood frame, I really hope this thing goes back down to a cat 2 or 3 anything else other than a cat 5 would be a blessing.  Hunker down everyone cause I don't think we'll be in Kansas anymore.

the map kind of confuses me. What effect will it have on bradenton. I really have to convence my dad to go with the generator.

As long as the storm does not affect me im cool, but if your in one, hopfully you can seek help and thats kind of crazy that a storm can do that!!!!!!!!

Hmmm dont quite know what to think of this. Lowest in milibar storm, last one in the english alphabet and we still have till november 30th. The season is only predicted to get worse. I high doubt it will go straight north or turn west. The westerlies or the cold front coming through is going to push it east. Hopefully the cold front will hit it and it will knock off some of its power. Myself, i am saying it will hit further north than Naples and go through Orlando. Lord help the victims.

If you refresh and watch it ...it will show the hurricane's path as per the wind currents all the way till next thursday the 27th.

they say its coming towards us because a cold front heading east (from the west coast obviously) is suppost push it right to us.

Thats according to the princeton modle. The navy and nwc modle says were getting hit. We're starting to run out of gas down here and my dad says we will leave if it does come at us. I still don't really understand if bradenton will be hit or not. I hate to be negitive but doesn't it seem like the end of the world is coming near? tsunamis, fires,floods, terriost, hurricanes. Anyway good luck to everyone on here.

I was in andrew long time ago where eye of storm hit.
Just alot of wind and pressure in ears alot like
riding a aiplane riding 32,000 feet.

Well my  atv friends down street came with their toy hualer
and staying up on their land up here.
I saw them riding by my house this evening.
Well they are from tampa and st pete area.

I'm up mcalpin Fl near lake city I'm in mobile
home 32x80 on small 8acer farm.
If cames this way I know i have stay in ga
for few days maybe somewhere up in macon area.

I think this the big one coming to live oak fl they have'nt had
major hurrcaines hit here in 1896 and the last  hurricane was cat 2
hit in live oak 1964.


Well the weather  people are at it again trying playing guess games with
hurricane track with  wilma.We have see
next few days don't let your guard down on it.

I hope It's landfall hurricane for us in my area.We sure need rain.
But time only could tell.You can't make up your mind where hurricane
go.It can hit anywhere in state of florida
who knows we don't know.
We will feel outer effects from it.

I wish Bush would stop sending these hurricanes. After all, we won the election for him.

Yea, he went to survey the flooding in hati and the wind created by the helicopter blade caused a ripple in a puddle that pushed into the carrabeen that started circulation in a storm cloud that developed into a hurricane that is now Wilma.. ;D (how could he??? :d )  Anyway, based on pressure, this is the strongest hurricane to ever form in the alantic basin starting when we could measure or atleast make a good estimate of its pressure. Rita is 4th on the list and Katrina the monster is #6. 878 is the lowest that an aircraft recorded. They say it is going to weaken before landfall but they said that it would only be a cat4 at it's strongest point. So it makes you wonder...... :-\

And They saying same thing  noting changing much.I think track
might be off 100miles or 200miles out of way.This like game playing
guess who almost  like that very close.

We should  know by sun or monday.We will know when gets  out of
mexcio.Thats only way we have know run like wind and get  out of state FL
go to ga or al or tenn for few days.That will be my best bet right now
for all people that live in south FL or central Fl.We might have to get out  of here
in few days or when before hits.
In case worst thing happens,I have leave lake city and go to tenn or ga for few days in mountains.

Depends if  hurricaine slows down then we have time get out way and
make more cuase damage thats worst thing can happen.
IF goes fast with storm we have to leave
quickly in fews days.
Depends on condtion of  movement speed
and winds and matter of where goes.So keep eye on storm
During advisorys when time shows thats only you check on it.
So don't be to late for this storm comes and don't be there
for last min when hits shore.Thats only if live by water or if it's cat 3 or 4 or5.

As far as Lake City goes, I don't think you have much to worry about as of now it is supose to go across South Florida as a 1 or 2.  But if it takes a turn North you will know ;)

just finish putting a second tarp on the roof. lets hope it holds.

damn roofer said he cant redo the roof til next weekend cause of the hurricane. what does he know, what, 100 mph wind aint ever blown no one off a roof. ;D

Something was strange Today
I saw 15 or 20 18wheelers in the live oak walmart
parking alot and across us 129 over by hotels.I was
doing shopping there today.I guess it was fema or
help aid crews,maybe they are waiting when storm
goes over.I don't know who are 18wheelers are,it saids:US postal
express.It could be for anything they are using for.I don't know yet..
They are so many trucks i saw over there today  out by I10.


Well I hope everybody got ready for hurricane.And try your best
getting out  of there,or ride storm out.So I hope everybody is aokay.
I hope for  the best out there and prey for you all get out of there
in time.

Sitting here, 8:25.. Its not here yet. Sitting back chilling in my moms office at school in the safest part of the school.. Got computers, backup generators.. Man, good stuff. bring it on I say and god bless anyone who has somthing happen to them, and may a tornado take out my truck so I can try to get a cobra. If not, keep everyone safe, blah blah blah. Time to play halo and wait this thing out.

I saw news this morning on fox news and cnn.
I have heard Nat hurricane center on cnn before   wilma
hit land near Evergaldes city and some areas reported
145mph winds gusts in some areas in western coast of fla and some reported
120mph.And on fox news they said the Fla  Evergaldes kept the hurricane
stronger over swamp.Thats why it was cat3.

I know fla keys got lucky and even you people
down in south Fla you got pretty luckey with storm with eye
hitting  near miami and west palm beach.It could been much  alot worst with cat 4 and  cat5 storm.You must miss bullet of  worst eye of storm.At least no house roofs were not torn off.

We just had rain last night up in lake city.I know it took so long
having that hurricane crossing state.Man I know andrew was about 8half hours
cross.I think wilma took about 12 hours across south fla.

At least my old house  is  in good shape i use to own long time ago,
Down near county line rd near lake forest area in hollywood Fla.

I hope everybody is okay down there.


It's going be in lower 40's tonight here in lake city area.
And We have been having wind gusts with this cold front.
I was in valdosta ga yestday doing shopping at sams and I saw alot people
with atvs with fl tags going on I75 south bound lanes and alot rvs going down.I  was traveling on north bound  I75 lane and saw aplaph river it was wet and look like mug blog down there.I bet it's dry this weekend.

I think it crossed the state in about 3 hrs not 12

Well Naples is pretty messed up.  Most of downtown is under about 3-9 inches of water.  Police aren't letting anyone down there.  How do I know about the water you ask?  Well I've lived in Naples my whole life and know some backroads.  There are hundreds of trees down in my neighborhood alone.  I've seen cars and trucks smashed by trees and limbs.  The worst damage I saw was a couple businesses in about 3 inches of water.  Over all not a killer storm but it's gonna take a while to clean up and get back to normal.  Oh and yes I've been riding my quad in the street pulling trees and limbs out for people.  I drove by where I work (Cadillac dealer) and my bay door is blown in.  I couldnt find my toolbox and tools.  The only bay doors not braced was mine and another.  Mine was the only one to blow in.  Well the good news is no work until "further notice".  Anybody else have any good stories?

The eye only took 3 hours but the whole storm took about 12 hours.

I guess there is alot damage on tv they are showing little bit of it.

I know it's alot more damage in your areas i know.Well maybe in next
few days they might show more damage.I know newpapers are cover
with lots of  wilma  aftermath pics.

Well I saw wilma  report on news this afternoon
and it's near off shore near new york  and new egland states
and it's 105mph winds moving ne and moving is doing 53mph
it's hualing butt to novie scovia up near greenland.

I'm glad it was last storm for while.Untill next year
hurricane season  I know they going be more storms next year.
I think it's going be another active year next year.So I'm glad
everybody made it okay through storm. ;D

Be glad your not in cancun mexico
With all that andrew damage down there.Thats
worst thing i have seen then katrina did and andrew did.There's
alot of building damage with storm surge.And alot tourest got trap
down there with not enough planes to get out of cancun airport.
And havan cuba got hit pretty bad with storm surge.

I think the Cat 5 ... 175 MPH wind comment was a tad bit of an exageration....  It didn't hit anywhere close to that

It was not supposed to hit at a cat 5 braniac... It was a cat 5 and was forecasted to go down to a high 2 low 3 once it hit us... There where reported winds of 135mph in Pembroke Pines

the storm turned out to be weak, but a tornado did some damage to my apartment complex
