Title: power valve on a kdx 200

i have an 88 kdx 200 that i just rebuilt. put it together ran like crap so i took it apart and went back through everything, what does the power valve do and is it pretty easy to replace? i know where it is, i think, but what does it do any help would be appreciated

Well I don't have a kawi but both my zuki's have power valves. A power valve is an adjustable(valve) that lets you move your powerband up or down in the rpm band. On one side of the motor there should be a window (alteast on mine) and the adjacent side should be a the valve adjuster. Loosen the screws and turn it accordingly to what you like. Hope this helps. -Mark

EDIT: It should be located toward the front of the motor. Just under the exhaust port.  I don't think you need to replace it. It's probably just needs to be adjusted. Or you could have put it back together wrong.
