Title: stator trouble shooting
Post by: jjamesbar on September 18, 2005, 10:16:19 AM
i am not getting any fire to my spark plug. all the fuses are good. i replaced the coil and still no fire. opened up the side cover to look at the stator (having never done this before it was a little intimidating especially when the cover came off) thinking i would see any physical issues if there were any. well it all looked like new inside which was suprising to me seeing how i have rode the dog crap out of my big bear over the years.
my question is, how do you test the stator to see if its good? i want to know that its bad before spending $200+ on a new one.

You need a ohm meter to check the resistance. You also need to know what it should be if it is good.
