I went out to the Yucapan to look today and it still looks a little flooded but not even half as bad as it was about a month ago. I still havent got to ride out there yet but I went to a small (and I mean small) track like thing off Durden and rode there for a few mins. There are a couple of berms and a few jumps. It was kinda fun since I really havent got to ride much. Anyone seen that track thing that I'm talking about before? Its kinda in a back road area. Also, anyone been going to the Yucapan?

That used to be great back off of Durden. I haven't been back there in months but the last time I was there they were starting to build houses. How is it now?

It was fun, I didnt see any houses when I was on the track thing but I was too busy riding to look. I know they were in the process of building some houses on a couple of streets but I dont remember if it was on the road with the track. Do you live in Cape Coral?

I broke my leg jumping back off Durden. Now I have a permanent reminder ( steel rod from ankle to my knee) of that jump. The Yucapan will stay wet until about mid October.

No, I live in St.Pete but used to ride there. I have a very close friend that lives off of Burntstore and Pine Island Rd.

Weird, I crashed my atv on one of the jumps yesterday too. I hit the jump wrong and my blaster did a steep nose dive and threw me off than fliped twice and landed on me :K :ouch.gif... Im alright though, all that happened is I got sand in my mouth, helmet, goggles, and all over me and my blaster. I jumped right back on and kept riding though. I forgot to post that when I made the original post. Cool. Why did you stop riding there?

 I live off Diplomat, between Andalusia and Santa Barbara. I ride out to the pan from my house into the entrance off  the end of Chiquita.

I havent been out there yet but I hear its awesome for riding. I know people park just off the road by the firestation out there. I might be trying to head out there too this weekend.

Why haven't you gone out there in a year? I was talking to Shotgun on AIM a couple of days ago and I might go out there to ride with him soon. Gregg T, how often do you ride in the 'pan'? Are you going anytime soon because I really want to go and maybe we could possibly meet up?

A group ride sounds great! When could we scedual one? Maybe Sunday Oct.16th if the rain holds off?

Maybe I'll head out Sun. or next weekend & do a little recon run to see how it is. It's been awfully DRY around here the past few weeks !!! I'm on a sport so I'll definately stay away from the DEEP spots  :o  :o

Yeah I ride sport also (Blaster). I was thinking about heading out Tomorrow or Sunday or Next weekend also. If its too flooded for me I can always just ride off Durden. Also I just got Google Earth and I looked at durden and I didnt know the paths went into the forest off durden. I got to ride back there too. I cant wait till I go!

I you go just to the end of Chiquita, you can park just after the little bridge on the left, and go into the Pan to the right. If you go all the way to the end of Chiquita, there is a house. The best place to park and ride, is off of Burnt store Rd, across from the Fire Station. When you go into the entrance off Chiquita, you have to be careful because if you don't know your way around, it will lead you to the old hill, which is supposed to be no treaspassing. Florida fish & Wildlife tends to frown on people there.

Alright, I just got back from the Yucapan and it was a blast! I pulled up at 7 pm or so and a big group of people with sport and utility bikes were just leaving. They said the trails werent flooded at all. I went out by myself and rode for about an hour (keep in mind this is my first time ever going out there) I was parked right in front of the Firestation. I saw about 10 diffrent people while I was riding. Mostly quads but there was a guy with a go-kart with a girl on a pw80. It wasnt that wet at all where I went but I didnt go in that far because I dont have a GPS. Come on yall, we all should set up a day to get together and ride.  ;D

Anyone look at the Yucapan since the rain we got? I would think it would be flooded because we got like 5 inches where I am at.

Rode out there Saturday night (09/24/05) . There were some trails that you could not get down, but there were alot of dry trails as well. Most of the wet trails, had a high road you could take to get around the deep water. We had 13 bikes in our group, and went in the entrance off the end of Chiquita.

dont see a problem in going on either day are there gonna be any little ones with you ? sat. my son will go with me he rides a 90cc he can go about 30 on it ,if not sunday i can meet you without him just let me know

No problem, he can come, I am only 16 and I'm the only one in my family with a quad. It will be only my second time going out there so we could go as fast as we needed to with him. Do you want to go this Saturday or on Saturday oct. 8th? I should be open for either.

I would be a little hestitant about riding dirt bikes out there just yet. You might want to wait about 3-4 weeks before going out there on a dirt bike.

thanks for the tip. Last time I went there my bike went completely under water but this was in june. Some nice people on quads towed me back.

Was out there last eve. on my " Enduro DRZ 400 " checking things out . Went to enter 3 different trails, all 3 REAL WET !!
 
 Wait a while for the bikes.

 I might head out this weekend on the quad to get further in :dunno.gif

It still keeps raining. It seems like it has every day for the last week now.

I know .............................  didn't even bother heading out this weekend . looks like its gonna be a while.

We might have to wait till the 23rd of this month just to go riding. I think that would be as good as its gonna get if the rain holds off. If it doesnt stop raining it might be untill November untill it is dry enough.

I went out sunday and the water is rack deep in most places.If you know the area it  is ridable on a stock 4x4 if you stay out of the cypress heads and the flag ponds.

Hey guys!  I'm new to the forum and ATV's.  I live within a half a mile from the pan and can just ride an ATV to the spot.  I'm thinking of getting a new 06 rincon when they come out.  Would the Rincon be a good choice for riding in the pan?

Hey! Welcome to the site ernie! I don't know much about the rincon but I'm sure that it would do just fine in the pan. What kind of ATV do you have now?

Thanks for the welcome Dr. Dirt!  I don't have one now.  Thats why I was thinking of the new rincon.  I would get the 05 but for the same price, I migh as well wait.  I thought about getting a used one, but I don't want any of the headaches of having it in pieces in my garage.  I had enough of that in my jet ski days years ago.  I'm looking forward to getting out there on the trails.  The main thing that attracts me to getting an atv is that I can pull out of my garage and be there in 3 minutes or so.  Great hobby without commiting myself to a whole day of trailering.

your lucky bro. Most of us have to trailer our bikes places in this "great state of florida"

If you used to ride jet ski's then you might like a sport type quad rather than a utility because utilitys just dont have that "punch", but on the other hand a utility can go through almost anything thus meaning you can ride almost all year as opposed to only the winter months on a sport quad in the Pan.

Nah, I'm pretty sure I'll be happier with the utility.  I've grown a little older since my jet ski days so I'm pretty happy with just putting down the trail and through the mud.  I'd also like to take it out hunting on ocasion as well.

so its it still flooded? I'd like to go out there friday with my crf 230 and a trx 250.  I bring my crf threw anything.

Its rained about every day here since like September 23rd and we have only had about 2 days with no rain. It rained again today.

No, its like 2-3 feet deep of water out there. I will send you a PM definatly when it gets dry enough. I'm thinking it will be dry enough by November 1st if all the rain holds off..

Ernie I have a rincon its a great bike with stock sized tires on it,ride is great and handles great,but it has no low end with my outlaws on it. In deep mud it will hardly spin the tires.
Trying to set up a night ride for the saturday night the 14 any one want to go?????

Good to see you back, Mike. When it dries out a bit, (so my Z can make it), lets go for a ride. I've still never met anyone that knows the Pen like you do.

Went out sunday, it is dry by gator slue.Some of the trails have 2-3 inches of water on them.Just right for bike skimming ;D.Most trails are over my tires  .I would say 2 weeks of no rain and you could get aroung pretty good on a sports bike.

The pan is wet lands half the year, suger sand the rest .Mostly scrub pines and palmettos.There are a few cypress heads and a handfull of flag ponds.Maby 15 miles of main trails .Then there is all the small trails that intersect the main ones maby 20-25miles.

I live in the Cape off of chuiquita i made my own track next to my  house. THeres been a lot of cops that have been called on me but f all them. Do you know any tracks that are close to the Cape?

Cops here in Cape Coral are a pregnant dog! They given my friends 85 dollar tickets and i gotten called on like 8 times but havent gotten any tickets so

Whats going on? I am confused. If you live out by Chiquita, you cant be that far from the pan. Just go there and the cops shouldnt give you any problems.

i have been out to the Yucapan but its a little far. When i was talkin about the cops being a pregnant dog is when im ridin around in my neighbor hood. Thers tons of empty lots.

Yeah, I've gotten trouble for riding in the lots to.

Back to the yucapan. So its like 15 miles right. I'd really like to meet up with one of you that knows the trails so you can show me the place. I think the hurricane with keep it really flooded til december. I wish they had a drainage system.

All you really need is a GPS. I don't know the trails well myself since I've only been out once, but I am sure I can learn them. It should be dry as a desert by mid november, I doubt it will rain again for a long time.

I know the trails very well. Been all the way through to 41 and back. I do carry a GPS now, but didn't at first. If you don't know the trails you can get lost, but the trails all seem to connect, so if you know which direction is west you can find your way back.

I drove out to the Yucapan today...lets just say, flooded is an understatement as of right now. It looks like a lake. It's gonna be atleast 3 weeks for it to be completly dry. Well, tomorrow I am going to ride off of Durden and the little tracks they have there. They were dry for the most part.

Where is Durden?

I am going out friday night, if anyone  wants to go for a water ride.

Where is the Yucapan?  is it in the Cape?  I live in Lehigh and all of the trails out here are getting kind of old. :N

Yes, it's in the Northern part of Cape Coral off of Burnt Store Road.
