Title: Re: Ocala Post by: jwscroll on September 10, 2005, 08:41:27 PM You can ride out of BigScrub and West Lake Delancey. I don't know about cabins you can ride from.
Title: Re: Ocala Post by: GSPKurt on September 10, 2005, 08:42:39 PM There are only 2 campgrounds that you can ride your quad out of legally. 1 is Big Scrub, the other is West Delancey. The best riding from West Delancey is closed off due to high water. Camp at Big Scrub. You cannot ride an unlicensed vehicle (quad) on a numbered road in the Ocala Nat'l Forest. You will be cited if you are caught. There is no camping at Rodman.

Title: Re: Ocala Post by: jwscroll on September 19, 2005, 09:44:38 PM Take the Vamps. Put more air than usual in them to smooth out the ride alittle. Take extra water and gas and a compass is good to have as a backup to the GPS.

[/quote] Ok, thanks for the info! Title: Re: Ocala Post by: themensh on October 14, 2005, 07:54:57 PM OK...have seen 'Rodam Dam" and "Elite" metioned a few times.
The map I have seenposted on here lists areas #1 through 33. #2 is West delancy and # 27 is Big scrub. Where on the map is Rodam dam and Elite? I just picked up an ATV today and by Jesus....I am riding it tomorrow. I know where Big Scrub is, but the other locations will sure come in handy later. This site should have a FAQ section with street addresses/directions and GPS co-ordinances of places available. Don't forget to write a couple lines to your local and state representatives to let them know we would like more accessible riding areas. (don't think that the deer and the bear among other animals DON'T use the trails that the ATVs keep open). Hope to meet some of you on the trail. Chuck |
