Title: Why do you cut your fenders?
Post by: backinsaddle on September 10, 2005, 01:14:32 PM
Is it for better visibility of the tires/suspension, or is it cosmetic?  I would think the less mud and dirt you get on yourself, your goggles, and grips the better, and that cutting the fenders allows more of this to happen.  I kinda like this idea (go to page 2 and look at the mud flaps):

Allows you too see better and see where your tires are at. Whether it be tight trails or coming in for a landing.

It's something different than everybody else.  Plus you can see your front tires :)

most people cut the fender for less drag for top end runs :)

I like to see my front tires so when I am passing I know where the other guys rear tire is. If you are racing hard you're gonna get dirty so a little extra won't matter much. ;D

My friend has a 250ex with the fenders cut and it helps us see where we are going while doing wheelies.

Usally people cut there fenders so there is less air drag when doing long wheelies. Personally I think it is not the best idea. Especially if you ride any trails, the first patch of mud or water, you are going to be eating it right through your helmet.

I would cut my fenders but you need them if you run over a patch of water.  Some say is better for top speed becuase they have less drag. But It a good way to buy aftermarket fenders to they have some style instead of cracking up the chain saw and to cut yur fenders.
