I am trying to set up a Group ride for Juggalo_Warrior that is defending our country in Iraq. Hes been trying to get a ride going for when he gets back into town and not many people resonded to him except for Dreth and he is setting up a ride at Seminole track the following week. So I wrote to him and said I would try to get a ride set up for him. So this date seems to work out for him and I. The date is Sep 25 at ONF @ 900 am. So lets try to get as many people as we can and show J.W around the forest and enjoy ourselves at the same time. Hope to get many resposes see you guys there. Tony aka T2Raptor.

BTW this ride is for everyone not just the speed riders this can include ult too.

I just want to say a BIG "Thanks" to everyone thats coming out or trying to come out and ride. I haven't been a member of the sight that long but I don't think that I will find a better group of people especially atvr's no matter where the Army takes me. Everyone has been super friendly and more than helpful whenever they can. Again, "THANK YOU" and I look forward to riding with everyone whether it be at Ocala or Seminole.      J.W.

Well there's going to be all types at this one I suspect so I think it would be cool to hit a little bit of everything. I personally have a warrior but i'm still game for some mud plus i'd like to see the ute's do their thing.

Also, my mom and dad will be coming with me since it's my dad's pick-up he wants to drive so is there anything like fishin he can do while we tear up the trails and mud holes and my mom just wants to watch a little bit of all of us riding before we head off down the trails.

Sure there are alot of lakes in the area to fish at. We can get your dad to Lake Dorr for fishing. I can put him in an area with great views and lots of shade.

Well I'm not going to my seminar so I'll be available.  Only two problems.  I have alot of work to do to my quad before I can hit the trails.  So if I can get the brakes, bearings, air filter, and possibly clean the carb before we ride then I'll be there for sure. 

Second problem is this is a Sunday only ride I can't afford to just head up there for one day.  Is anyone camping and where?  It's a 6-8 hour round trip for me and then to fit a ride in I won't make it back for work on Monday.

I hope to make it but need some info.  If I go I want to make an entire weekend of it.  Camping Friday and Saturday night.

Hey QT, I was just about to mention that. I talked to my parents and they said that going up Saturday is probably a good idea for us since we are coming from naples. If anybody has any good suggestions on camping spots or local hotels as my parents aren't that great at roughing it I would really appreciate it but even still we probably wouldn't get there until Saturday afternoon. Anyway, I understand your dilema and just appreciate the effort to make it. Hope to see you there, J.W.

Susieblazer and family stayed at the Ocala Forest Campground last weekend, and it was a really nice place. It even has a pool.

Hey GSP, The internet is a wonderful thing. I got the number to Ocala Campground and called them. Sounds like a great place and mentioned to the parents and they seemed to like it. It's not official yet but we will more than likely be staying there the saturday before the ride although we won't get there til 4 or 5 that evening since my dad has to work til about noon on saturday. How is the quad security in ocala. Do a lot get stolen? Do you just chain it up in the back of the truck or what? Just kind of curious? Don't feel like losin' my quad before I get a good ride on it.

That sucks, Ill be in holo paw for a FTR race.. Its my first.. But if sunday.. I might be able to talk my mom into stopping by if its not too far away.

Any quad is a target for theft. Make sure you chain it to the truck or something stationary. It is a nice campground, lots of quadders there. You should like it. Where are you coming from? South? If you're coming from the north, you could camp on my property, but I'm 2 hours north of ONF.

  Trailer rentals and the A frame apartment over the game rooms are $40 a night, but they are very clean and the A/C will freeze your azzzzzzzzz off!!!

Well i've never been there so I would have no idea of where a good meeting place would be. I'm sure there are some good suggestions out there so lets here'em.

If you like we could meet and park at the powerlines a coulple of miles east of hwy 19 on hwy 445. There are lots of smooth trails in that area.

I don't kow where anything is so I might need somebody to swing by the campground so I can follow plus I need to be able to set my dad with some fishin' that morning but I don't think lake dorr will be to hard for him to find.

IT200 lives right there and knows the best areas. It would benefit us to heed his advice!

Hey that sound like fun I might be there but is it ok if my dad uses a dirtbike.  Also for the meeting spots the smooth place sound great.

If we all agree and ride east of Hwy 19 there shouldnt be anything that cant be handled on a dirtbike accept maybe loose sand.

my dad might just use his warrior but loose sand is nothing for my dad sounds fun

I NOMINATE YOU AS THE TRAIL LEADER AND PARKING INSTRUCTOR ;) THANKS FOR VOLUNTEERING ;) PLEASE POST DIRECTIONS ON HOW TO GET TO THE PARKING SPOT!!

Directions to the parking spot are from the south take hwy 19 five miles north of hwy 19 and turn east on hwy 445 go approx 2 miles till you hit the power lines there is plenty of parking on the powerlines on either side of the road. From the north come south on hwy 19 seven miles turn east on hwy 445 go approx 2 miles. As it will be a sunday and some people may not be able to stay to long I will go out this weekend and try to map out a good ride that crosses back and forth over the powerlines so if anyone needs to leave early it will be a straight easy way back.

I'd love to go on this ride.  I'm also from Naples. Juggalo any chance on meeting up and car pooling?  Do you have a trailer.  I'm willing to pull one with my bike and yours.  I've never ridden with anyone from this site and really would like to.  About how long of a drive is it from Naples?  How much is it to camp.  I'll be sleeping in my truck.  I'm looking forward to this ride.  I've been wanting to camp  for a while now.  If sleeping in the truck is camping.  HAHA

hey z400, I don't have a trailer but my dad has a pick-up that we are puttin my quad in. do you have a trailer? if not we could still follow each other up. It is about a 4 hour drive from naples and at ocala forest campground it is 19 bucks a night and they have hot showers and water and electric on the camp sight. we were going to leave probably around 1 or 2 saturday afternoon. this'll be my first ride too.

Juggalo.  I didn't read the part where your family was going with you.  I've got a truck so I am all set.  Are you in Naples now?  How about some practice somewhere before Ocala?  Just keep me informed on the travel plans.  I might have a few friends interested.  We can ride up there caravan style. You know like 4 or 5 trucks on the highway with quads in the back looks cool as hell!  Alrighty keep in touch and Pm me if you want to ride somewhere around here.

The area is great for parking either hard pack or grass. Cars pulling trailers park there so you should have no problem.

I agree. The whoops at Scrub will whip your a** in short order. We will be very close, and the trails are much nicer. I just rode that area Labor Day weekend and it was great fun. I am confident you will enjoy it there.

 I in sarasota. Ive never road with anyone from this site before, but it sounds like its a cool bunch so count me in on this ride. Im pullin my z400 behind my jeep. I would like to get a convoy started with people taking 75 north. Like i said im in sarasota so anybody passin through let me know so we could meet up. Skyway bridge is fine with me.

I've got some friends (muddbuggy and seebeejim) down here that help me learn to work on it.  They have jobs and family too though.  So hopefully I can get it worked out before then.  I'm willing to take any help I can though.  Even if it means working on it up there Saturday before riding Sunday.

Nothing wrong with it.  I just need to give it some TLC.  It's acting real sluggish.  So I figure I need to clean the air filter, clean the carb, it needs rear brakes.  I just need help learning how to do it all so I can eventually do it all myself.  I'd love to get my 424 in the darn thing.  That's been sitting in my truck now for 2 months.  I also have a short in the electrical system w/ the 12 volt and spare night light.  All that has to be done is the carb, filter and brakes to go on this ride.

Too bad you don't live near Gainesville. I'm pretty good with brakes and bearings, and I just put a winch on my Eiger. I could trade labor for a couple of adjustments. ;)

        If you dont have it done by that saturday you can bring it by my house and we will help you get it done. We will be putting a new axle in my friends quad so we are going to be in the garage that day and we would be glad to help.

Well for anybody that was wanting to or thinking about going up on saturday and staying the night, I will be going up in the morning getting there about noon or so since my dad managed to get that day off now. I plan on heading out to our agreed upon sunday spot with my parents around 2 or so just to piddle around on the quad and let my mom and pop try it out. So if anyone is getting there early and wants to meet us out there we'll be the 3 looking like we are on a sunday drive. This way sunday I will be more warmed up to go b@ll$ out and get a little crazy(but just a little).

I will see what I can do but I may very well take you up on that offer if it's not ready by then. 

By the way thanks to everyone for offering to help me get my quad ready for this ride.  You all are so great and can't imagine how good it makes me feel to know y'all are there.  Thanks!

Hey z400, we were planning on leaving about 8 and my parentts just informed me they made reservations at the hampton inn in camp dora just up the road. I knew they couldn't handle roughin it for one night and imagine, I slept in a tent with 10 other guys for a whole year in the middle of the dessert. I guess in some ways the apple does fall far from the tree. let me know if you want to caravan.

Can someone post directions? Also, if anyone needs a ride or a bike hauled from Brooksvile area, I have room for 2 bike on my trailer. Never been to BS.

Go to www.mapquest.com and put in Altoona FL as your destination that will get you to the intersection of hwy 42 and hwy 19 from there go north approx 5.5 miles to nfs 573 turn left go 7 miles to Big Scrub campground its a good place to camp. For the ride come back out nfs 573 turn south on hwy 19 go about half a mile and turn left on hwy 445 go about two miles to the power lines

I would like to camp in the same campground. If anyone needs a bike hauled from the Tampa/Brooksville area... I have room for 2 more bikes.

Your more than welcome to camp in our yard. We live right in the forest. We have water and electricity back there and a bathroom with a door to the outside.

I was just going to be doing some easy riding Saturday cause it will be the first time i've riden my new quad (ever)! and my first time back on a quad in about ten years.

What kinda bike did you get?  I'm really excited about this trip.  I need to get out of boring old Naples.  I dunno if I'm going to be roughing it cuz I'm bringing my 9" tv and playstation.  I can't get enough of Madden 06. I bought a tent that sets up in the back of my truck just for this trip.  Hopefully we can all caravan up there and have an awesome time.

Just let me know.   I'm getting more and more excited as the hours go by.  I'm ready to meet some of the fine folks off this website and see the famous ONF.

You will probably need to pick up a set of brake pads for the rear. The rear pads usally wear out first. But if you want to replace them all it should only be about 50 bucks for aftermarket pads. And get a can of spray carb cleaner.

I already have the brakes for the bike.  I keep a spare on hand.  I need to know what type of spray/oil for my K&N filter.  Also, where to buy the carb cleaner?  Do you think I need an oil filter and oil change too?  All I know is this thing is running very very sluggish.  It's not responding to much and the top end power is gone.  So I don't even think it'll do 35.  It will normally run 55 and has lots of top end torque.

Buy the carb cleaner at any automotive parts store like autozone. I have the filter oil for the K&N. You should probably get an oil filter and 3 quarts of 10w40 oil so we can do an oil change.

Thanks will do.   Why motorcycle oil versus regular oil?

Well motorcycle oil is supposed to have added inhibitors to slow oil breakdown. However if you buy a good quality oil and you change your oil as often as I reccomend it doesnt have a chance to break down. Price difference of about 3.00 a quart

Auto oil has friction modifiers- whatever the hell that is- which is supposed to be real bad for the quad's clutch. Wal-mart has Mobil1 motorcycle oil and that's what I use.

Copied this from some website.  Seemed like a good summary.  Probably more than you ever wanted to know

"...it is best to use only oils which are NOT energy-conserving for motorcycles with wet clutches. Read the back of the container. It clearly identifies this. In general, only the very lighter oils, like 10w30, 10w20, 5w20, are energy-conserving. All 5w40, 5w50, 10w40, 15w40, 15w50, and 20w50 oils which I have found are not energy-conserving and can be recommended for general motorcycle use.

It is commonly mis-stated that SJ and SL oils have friction modifiers which will cause wet clutch slippage. In reality, all oils have friction modifiers, that's how they work. The real issue is to avoid getting the friction so low, with very thin oils containing extra amounts of friction modifiers, that clutches will slip under normal use. Stay away from energy conserving oils and you should be fine, if your clutch is in good working order. "

I had it at Scrub, but I thing it was changed, so I dont know for sure where the starting point is at.

im not exactly sure where your talking about meeting, i come off 42 and go north on 588 til i come to the campground, where your talking about meeting, is that down near blue sink?(so i would take a right when i get to big scrub and head towards there???)

Ok what you want to do is to continue past 588 on hwy 42 until you reach hwy 19 its about 8 miles east of 588. Go north on hwy 19 till you reach hwy 445 turn right which is east go approx 2 miles till you get to the powerlines. we are meeting right there. There is plenty of parking.

So how many people are going on this ride so far ? Is this a slow cruise or a fast ride & how far are you planning on riding because my 450 loves to drink some gas.

Is Dreth & everyone else from the speed ride going ?

I imagine the sport ride will be kinda fast, but with some stops because of such a large group. Hopefully the ute ride will be slower with lots of mud and water.

Yes PLEASE no mud or water for me because I have no airbox.

Since It200 has a 25 mile loop on his GPS I forgot to ask him about the mud situation, I didn't mind watching the uty's going through the mud as long as there is a way around the mud for me. I am with you no air box lid on the bike and besides its a pain in the azz to clean. ;D

Ok the official meeting spot for the ride is the powerlines and Hwy 445 2 miles east of Hwy 19. We should all meet there at 9:00 AM. We will try to start the ride as soon as possible after 9:00  It will be a 25 mile loop with not to much mud if any ( I ride a sport quad ) But there will be an area that the mudders can have fun at.

Anyone who is still looking for a place to camp is wellcome to camp in our yard. We are about 8 miles from where the ride will start. Just PM me for directions or my cell #

Oooops, I was thinking of the Eureka ride when I said the sport ride and ute ride. Ill shutup now, lol. I think we need to set it like normal, meet at 8 ride at 9 to allow the people that are always late no matter what to get there or meet at 9 ride at 930 or 10

My family and I will be riding there this weekend, I don't think we'll join the group though, my son is still learning his fourwheeler. We'll be at west Lake Delancy.

New guy here. I recently found this forum and have been reading about this ride for a few days. I am thinking about coming up. How lon do these group rides last? Is it typically a full day?

Ok folks, we're all good.  I'm gonna be leaving my house about 9:15 to meet with Juggalo and then we're off.  Qt I tried calling you but figured u were sleeping and only let it ring a few times.  See you all soon.

This will be a not quite full day. I think they're talking 30 miles or so. A group ride always takes longer due to the logistics of that many quads riding together. Come join us! We'd love to have you. Bring water, goggles and a dust mask or bandana to cover your nose and mouth. Of course, a helmet and gloves are recommended.

Well just came back from where the ride will be tommorow. Wedid about a half hour ride to check out QT's bike after doing some work to it. Juggalow Warrior was out there getting some practise in. We will see you all in the morning.

wow! well its almost midnight the night before the ride. We just got back from Tampa Lightning game. Our quads are at the warehouse and it takes about an hour to get them reayd to go and load up. 2 hour drive to Ocala. Meet at 8 wake up at 5. I think this one creeped up on us a little to fast. I don't have the energy to wakeup and do all that after yard work all day today. Ill catchy yall next time.

last minute desion we are going to up there in the morning,,want to check out some differnt area in the forest,,,
I am hoping to be there before 9,,, but if not we will explore on our own,, i will be with 3 other sports...

is there a way to cross 19 to get over to blue sink.. maybe to late to ask..

I had a great time despite having to slow down because of quad issues.  To all the familar faces great to see you again.  Florida Gator, glad you came out and joined the crew.  Z400stunter, Kat, Aaron, SkyHigh, LE450Racer, Chuck Norris family, Juggalo it was great to meet y'all.  Hope to see you on more rides.

IT200-  Thanks so much for taking the time to not only coach me through my quad issues but to teach me how things work.  He is for sure MacGuyver w/ an engine.  I can't belive how fast she runs now.  Just can't wait to get the lower ball joints fixed so I can really test her out.  Thanks also for the place to camp.

If y'all haven't been to his house up there you should stay and camp w/ us sometime.  Pics will be posted later of the riders and the swim in the pool.  Hope I didn't leave anyone out, if I did it was by accident.  See some of y'all next weekend at Eureka.

  We had a really great time, glad to see all the familiar faces and to meet all the new names we see on here but didn't really know. Hope to ride with ya'll soon again.
  We are glad to have Juggalo Warrior with all of us and wish him well in his next tour of duty and he will be in all our thanks.....
   To bad spacerider missed out, but hopefuly will join the next rides.
   This should become a monthly thing, but as either a Saturday ride (so we all don't have to hurry home) or a weekend camping trip....

great ride!!! met some new people. had alotta fun even got some little extra riding in afterwards thanks to atvtrailer.

Great ride today, learned some new area, which is always a +

went on the first ride then after returning to the truck we ate some lunch and everybody was loading up. so we took off to the north and found our way over to blue sink for a little swim ;D.

Come to find out my cousin took the keys out of the bikes when we went up to the spring, and guess what he loose's mine. lookin up and down the little trail from the bikes to the sink and could not find it. but luckly a guy out there with his kids just there for the day in his truck seen us looking for them and asked if he could give me a ride to the truck because i had extras there,, so there are still some decent people out there... but anyways taking a dip after riding all day is a nice thing and we found some awsome long and smooth trails to get there

Thanks for the good trails IT200. I had a good time & nice meeting all the new people. This is the place that we need to hold the next speed ride at I think.

I could go on and on thanking everybody but I will just sum it all up by saying a BIG "THANK YOU" to everybody that came out or even tried to but couldn't make it (it's the thought that counts). This sight has a great bunch of folks on it and I met a bunch of them today. You guys are great. I will always be a member of this sight no matter where the army takes me.
