Title: OK GOTTA VENT !!!!!! WHO'S FAULT??? Post by: stump66 on September 02, 2005, 12:11:48 PM I"ve been siiting watching this news coverage everyday trying to stay objective as to what could be done or should have been done to prevent this magnamonous catastrophe.
First I do believe that before the storm hit at least 2 days in advance all the people living in the big fish bowl were to to GET THE HELL OUT!!!! So all the people crying that they are stuck in the middle of a nasty puddle of fuel water and poo poo should be crying to themselves and not crying because our government can't pull a rabbit out of there ass and get 100k people out of the toilet. The levy system was substandard, they knew that, it was being worked on. Bushheld back funding because the dollars were needed elseware but this little "las Vegas" of the east with all its tourist dollars should have stepped up to the plate and finished it or made some sort of effort to do so and they did nothing. I know there are allot of people that can do nothing for themselves now because of age or physical limitations. But there are way toooo many loud mouths jerkoffs doing nothing but inciting anger and violence like they do when they start riots. Whets the answer to it all. There isn't one. Its going to take time and people will die, that sux but if your warned to get out then get the hell out. It takes time to mobilize thousands upon thousands of troops to go bail these folks out. Its been 4 days 5 hrs since the storm hit. Something like 50k people have already been evacuated to Houston and other areas. I don't think that's that bad if you consider the methods that must be used to get them out. There are only so many choppers and they only hold a few people at a time. I REALLY REALLLY HOPE AND PRAY that this will be a learning experience for not just these folks but for our nation and the world. SOME THINGS CAN'T BE ANTICIPATED OR PREPARED FOR. Look at the tsunami. They lost what 300k or more? I'm not taking side or saying anyone is right or wrong but the media needs to STOP trying to place blame on a person or party and use there communication resources to aid in the help of these poor folks :cursing.gif Title: Re: OK GOTTA VENT !!!!!! Title: Re: OK GOTTA VENT !!!!!! WHO'S FAULT??? Post by: TRX350_On_The_Rack on September 02, 2005, 12:52:25 PM I think the rescue personal are doing an incredible job with what they have and commend them and their heroic efforts. As it's said a Disaster requires many elements to happen and I don't think it's anyone's fault in particular, but better provisions could have been made, to get the people out before the storm hit and how they could better rescue them afterwards, especially knowing what happened after Andrew hit. All I know is someone or someones' have dropped the ball on thier response to this and heads are rolling on Capital Hill.

Post by: stump66 on September 02, 2005, 01:12:58 PM I have 2 kids, If I was living below sea level and a cat 3-4 or 5 storm was on the way and I was told to get out and didn't,then my childrens parrel would be my fault. Not some politician who can't come hold my hand and lead me away from danger.

When it turned north they should have started to plan for moving people.
My buddy is in the coast guard on C130 aircraft stationed in St. Pete. Everyday this week he has been flying over and landing in Baton Rouge, loading up with bottle water and distributing over the city. He told me when he got there it is much worse than what's on TV. He also mentioned that a fellow coast guard friend was shoot at. And he said when he got near New Orleans the smell is beyond bearable. I don't see New Orleans ever being the same as it was. -Mark Title: Re: OK GOTTA VENT !!!!!! WHO'S FAULT??? Post by: stump66 on September 02, 2005, 01:47:23 PM Make it a lake or one big shipping port.It can't get anyworse then it is other then being nonexistent. If they all gotta rebuild anyway it would make more sence to build where the chances are less then what they are there that it will happen over and over as time goes on and the city continues to sink into the marsh. They will need to build a hoover dam around the place to keep the water out.
Drain it , burn it , till it under and filler up and call it lake katrina. :dunno.gif Title: Re: OK GOTTA VENT !!!!!! WHO'S FAULT??? Post by: BCConviber on September 02, 2005, 03:20:58 PM This looting & shooting crap is rediculous... Take all the food, water, diapers etc... People should have unresitricted access to life sustaining items at a time like this. But, a thug, is a thug....These scumbags roving the city looting electronics and jewlery stores, shooting at civilians, cops, and the military deserve nothing but a monster bullet in the forehead. There is NEVER an excuse for theft.. unless it's to sustain life. And in no way do these bastards need TV's and jewelery to do that.
That being said, I believe that we as a country should have done more in the days before landfall to get these people out of there that did not have the means to get out on their own. Forcing them if necessary... Now we have to deal with the consiquences. There will be many lesseons learned by many from this disaster. |
