I was in the NO SERVICE area at my local watering hole the other night and by changing this feature, I was able to two-way three different people. so as far as my experience goes-it works!

Good post :ThumbsUp.gif. I'll try it tomorrow when I'm at work. Loose my signal when I step inside of the building. Also it seems every other step I take outside I'm losing a signal :-\.

err_channel is to check and display errors on you display. It doesnt improve the signal. And as far has being on a EMERGENCY NETWORK... Think about is Nextel going to let you get on there emergency channel. What emergency channel ?? the police and fire department uses Motorola 2 way radios. Nextel is used for more personal use. Went I show its to the people at Nextel today there going laugh there @ss off. ;D

PS: There’s 12 towers down in Dade and Broward

I’m not doubting big daddy. However, I tried this again tonight in the bar and today in south Kendall...and it worked!
I too worked for the cellular companies (Sprint PCS and Nextel, a combined 6 yrs.) Before, working for Microsoft. I tried this today in south Kendall and I was able to reach, by two-way, a buddy in ft. laud. ERR/Channel allows you to use more than the standard "few channels" that are normally avl. to you as a “consumer“. It finds the strongest signal and communicates over it. As far as there being only 13 towers in Broward, your wrong! 2 yrs. ago when I was working for Sprint PCS, in the Cypress Creek & Federal hwy location, as a Commercial Account Rep. , there were 44 local towers, both standard and relays...so how do you figure such a small #??? After all Nextel and Sprint are the same, as far as Cellular service goes!!! So, logically there must be more now…Sprint works off of CDMA and Nextel worked of TDMA, direct connect-still “a Form of TDMA”. ADD the two and it must be more than 14!

You say,
(YOU…)
2+4=1... PROBABLY NOT!!!

I say,
(Fordracing99)
DUMBASS!

12 tower down due to Katrina… ::) Nextel is iden system not the same as Sprint total CDMA (code division multiple access) and roams on other networks TDMA, GSM and FDMA. Nextel own it network and uses iden, it doesn’t roaming into another network. So if there no iden signal it doesn’t roam = no phone or PPT. There working on a gateway to link iden and CDMA technologies. Also fordracing99 go into your service deptment and pull a phone manuel and read what Err-channel is.  ;)
