Title: Winch Install done!
Post by: GSPKurt on August 30, 2005, 03:14:39 PM
Here are some pix from my project yesterday- I installed a Warn 3.0ci winch on my Eiger. It wasn't very difficult, I just had to think it through before starting.

The Eiger has a gasketed box at the rear of the bike. I put the contactor in there.

I cut a hole in the back of the box with a hole saw, ran the cables and then caulked it as best I could.

I mounted the hand-held remote receptacle on the plastic shroud for the speedo.

I mounted the handlebar switch on the left so I can operate the throttle and the winch at the same time if neccessary. This is per the Warn instructions.

Now that I am finished, it is time for

 :E  and    :drink.gif :drink.gif :drink.gif !!

I know who you are referring to... ;D   Of course, Aaron and/or Kat (probably both) (on their sport quads) on their first ride out with the utes. ;) :-[  Oh well, I guess you will learn whether the winch works or not.  Keep on pullin'
and thanks for the vote of confidence GSPKurt

Kurt,  Looks great, words of wisdom get some of that liquid electrical stuff and coat the connectors on the inside of your box with it.  It will get moisture in the box and connectors to the bolts need to be protected so it will keep working.  I fried one due to it rust and corroaded connectors and it is costly.

Jim-
You mean the main power lugs that the heavy cables are on? I put the rubber boots on the terminals, thats not enough? I'll get some liquid electrical tape at Wally World today. Yes it is costly :(- a new contactor is $100.00!  :( :'(  Could I smear some silicone grease on the lugs? I think it would be a bi*ch to get the nuts off the posts if I use the liquid elect. tape.
