Title: Need Help...today if possible.
Post by: MotoMike on May 14, 2005, 09:52:48 AM
I live in Apopka, I have an 03 Z400 and last night I bought 2005 Z400 shocks, the ones that come with rezzies.  Anyway, I don't have the right tools or maybe I ain't doing something right.  The tightest fitting socket I have is a 14mm, the 13mm is too small.  But when I try to turn the bolt to take off the shock.  It feels like it is about to strip.  Does anyone have any suggestions, or does anyone live close enough that they could swing by and give me a hand?

TIA,
Mike

odd as it might sound,,,maybe it's a standard-sized socket?

dunno the sizes very well, but something close to a 14mm but in standard sizing,,,,,1/2 3/8

Nevermind...I got it!!!!

I used two sockets and a bar on one of them to give me some leverage and they came right off.  I will get pictures of the new shocks!!!

LOOK CLOSE AT THE 14MM SOCKET AND SEE IF IT MIGHT BE CRACKED

No, it was fine.  I was just trying to do it with one socket but once I stuck two on it, the bolts came right off.

Paul, maybe you shouldn't reply to my threads if you don't want me to talk to you ever again.

Anyway, I got it all situated so I no longer need help.  Dreth is going to help me with adjusting.

Thanks,
Mike

I have found that some sockets are off in size like chinese made ones. Also you can try a 6 point instead of a 12 point, tape the outside of the bolt to compensate for the gap or watch MacGyver for more tips :)
