THANKS Title: best pipe for blaster Post by: WAKORB on July 22, 2005, 12:58:28 PM many people ask about what pipe is the best and everyone argues brands not prefomance with dyno results to back it up as well as riding style type so what pipe gives the most horsepower for a blaster 200 for instance. On a stock machine, you can build 10 different pipes and not really see more than 1 HP between all of them but as you build a motor the right pipe can make all the difference. The reason being, head pipe diameter can adjust your torque up and down, head pipe length will adjust where your power comes in at and the muffler system or megaphone on the end of that tuned length will also make a difference. Each rider has his own style of riding - one may ride the machine like a 125 always wide open and in a high rpm mode and another may ride like an open class rider short shifting and using the torque of the motor. The pipe can be adjusted to your riding style, the cam opening and closing and the size of the motor by changing head pipe size, length and whether or not you have a megaphone. Then you also have the question of whether you are running a spark arrestor with discs or screens. The discs tend to flow more; the screens usually kill the power pretty bad on a performance motor. With the disc-type exhaust systems (SuperTrapp, White Brothers, FMF, etc.), you can adjust back pressure for your riding style also. More discs giving less back pressure and more top end usually; less discs creating more back pressure giving more low end and throttle response. My point is, one pipe may work for one person and not for another. If you are building an engine you need to talk to your engine builder, discuss what type of riding you are doing and your riding style. I hope this answered your question without getting technical. I like to keep things simple. i also think that the TOOMEY B1 kit is the best fit for a lot of rec riders looking for more power all thru the power bands. toomey also has tech people to talk to which is a great help in picking a pipe. hope this helps.

I have used SRP and billet aluminum spacers with good results. Pros are vastly improved stability and low cost. Cons: up front, the spacers will increase the moment on the front wheel bearings but the load is usually too small to worry about. Also, the spacers will increase unsprung weight a little but this is likely a wash relative to longer a-arms and a wider axle. Aluminum spacers are very durable but I would stay away from the plastic spacer blocks and screw-on stud spacers. If you are serious racer, however, the trick a-arms and wider axle are probably the ticket. PS: I have a set of like new Blaster SRP rear spacers (+2" per side) for sale if you are interested. I had to replace them with wheel adapter/spacers so I could swap wheels back and forth with my YFZ450. Title: Re: BLASTER FORUM Post by: WAKORB on July 24, 2005, 07:16:21 PM has anyone put on a new biger carb, say a 36mm? anyone use a new cdi ignition to increase the rpm range and change the power curve? i also heard something about how your pipes packing can change weather you get a little more top or bottom end depending on weather your useing a screen or plates. i have seen the screens they were talking about but not the plates. can anyone explain this in great detail?

Title: Re: BLASTER FORUM Post by: Toomey on July 24, 2005, 09:01:29 PM My blaster is ported, has a Toomey pipe, and a 34mm carb, and I'm preety happy with the power. It's faster than our stock 400ex, but the blaster's problem is just it's size and everything, it's sorta too small. I also put banshee front shocks on, and a 400ex rear shock on it, and it really lets you jump higher without a rough landing. I like my blaster but I need some more performance handling and suspension wise.

It's just on the small side for riding on a track for instance. On the trails it's perfectly fine, but when I go riding at the track, it's smallness kinda stands out. If I had trails by my house I would probably keep it.

my crank got fried so i sent them the whole motor. it's their carb and it's jetted pretty close to right, still have some fine tunning to do, but it idles and hauls a$$, it's a little rich but that means safe, haven't fouled a plug yet so it's not too far off. took off the lid on the airbox lid and had to cut half of the rubber boot off to get the carb adapter to fit in it, got new reeds as the old ones were shot. 1mm spacer under the jug to get the piston out of the ports way. I'm happy as hell with their work, and i got one of the last ones for a while, their not taking anymore work for now. If you are like me you go through some small water now and then and want to keep the water out of the air box. This product works great I also recommend that you use a hot glue gun to seal the lid after you clean the filter each time. Title: Re: BLASTER FORUM Post by: svtbolt04 on August 01, 2005, 03:32:53 AM Man, you sure are making this a big deal. But somthing like getting vendors out there needs lots of planning. If lets say 30bikes show up..You might get a photograph and some memories.. I honestly think you would need some sort of event, other than just a ride.. Like rent out a motocross track for a day, weekend, whatever. For one, a vendor wont show up at croom and sit there while everyone goes riding. They would lose ALOT of profit on that.
My suggestion is to rent out a track for a weekend. Advertise it as much as you can (without spamming) and get some type of main event for people to actually show up and want to stay. Also, I know its a Blaster ride, but most people that own blasters are kids. I know some of you have them, but really, a 200cc 2 stroke and small frame is sized for kids and teens learning to ride fast bikes. This means you have to widen the production models from lets say all 2 stroke day. That means Polaris, Yamaha, Honda and Kawisaki and Suzuki. This will get you ALOT more hits. Alot more people could show up and just a all out better time. On this site, how many active posters on here have a blaster AND RIDE IT as their main bike? I would count only around 7-10. That would be no fun and I would bet any money that a big name like FMF would not show. But if you take everyone who has a 2 stroke quad.. You have more than enough to hold an event, best of the best, fastest time...Whatever you want, let your imagination run free! Ok, so lets recap. #1 Rent a track for a weekend #2 Advertise, find promoters! #3 Widen the catigories to ALL 2 stroke Quads. #4 Advertise to the public! #5 Set up events #6 #7 Profit.. ;D Try to follow those steps and you should have a nice turn out! I look forward to pictures. Title: Re: BLASTER FORUM Post by: WAKORB on August 01, 2005, 08:21:36 AM Man, you sure are making this a big deal. Title: Re: BLASTER FORUM Post by: svtbolt04 on August 01, 2005, 05:29:35 PM Right on, but dont expect huge names in the industry to show up.
When I used to play paintball, the big names like WDP, worrgames, Boblong and other huge reconized companys wouldnt show up to an event if it were lets say, Rookies - Amature division. Only because they are a bunch of no name teams. Of course everyone is profestional, but they werent going to show up to a little tournament in orlando just for 30 teams. I think when I went to the NCPA which stands for National Collegeic Paintbal Association, which is college paintball. Even big name schools were there, but I bet there was only two vendors there. One was a paint distributer, and the other was a squeegy seller. And that was on their big day of the tournament. Schools like, Purdue, UF, FSU, UCLA, and other big name schools where there, but yet it was only college level, not many people cared. But in orlando (same place they held this event) when it was the World cup of paintball. Big name teams like, Dynasty, russion legion, Oakland assasins..Guys that get payed to play paintball, just like Travis pastrona, Carey hart, Bill Balance. Those guys are BIG NAMES! I bet you all know who those people are. Well when the big names showed up, The comapnys that knew people would be there wanting to watch them would be there, they showed up. So I guess what im trying to say is, expect the worst, hope for the best. I know you want this to be big, but somethings cant be rushed together. Good luck man, I am all for you holding this event. I hope for the best! Title: Re: BLASTER FORUM Post by: WAKORB on August 01, 2005, 07:53:45 PM I hear you guys loud and clear I was just hoping because of bike week maybe there would be some incentive. But I've posted this blaster ride on allot of sties to no avail. I relay thought there were more blaster owners out there. But IM starting to see that like you all have said this will be a small group of 10 guys having a blast getting dirty and thirsty. None the less ill be there ready to eat some food and ride the hel.l out of my blaster. Hope to see you guys there. Buy the way do you still have your marker? Osceola Extreme Sports is a pretty good place to play woods ball but it sounds like you are a air ball guy

i just got off the phone with the guyand he said that all that needs to be done is up the jetting. he didnt say to what but i mentioned that i have a 310 main jet he said that it would work. for the blaster it is $700.00. i have heard alot of bad stuff about nos cant this be done right without killing your engine? is a turbo better than NOS? http://www.boondockers.com/site.htm Title: Re: BLASTER FORUM Post by: Toomey on August 02, 2005, 08:44:46 PM I really wouldn't do that to the blaster. For one, the resell value will go through the floor if you install that. And it's just not a perment add on, you gotta be filling the bottle and all. If I was you, I wouldn't do, but done right, it's an easy 15 or 20 horsepower gain that can be preety reliable, but you gotta do it right and stay ontop of it. BTW, where do you live? I'm going riding this Saturday, the 6th, here in south florida, maybe we could meet up somewhere?
