Title: America
Post by: o4250 on July 20, 2005, 11:57:53 PM
Bet you stand up and say ***** YEAH! after you read this.

I like big cars, big boats, big motorcycles, big houses and big campfires.

I believe the money I make belongs to me and my family, not some governmental stooge with a bad comb-over who wants to give it away to crack addicts for squirting out babies.

Guns do not make you a killer. I think killing makes you a killer. You can kill someone with a baseball bat or a car, but no one is trying to ban you from driving to the ball game.

I believe they are called the Boy Scouts for a reason, that is why there are no girls allowed. Girls belong in the Girl Scouts! (AMEN  )

I think that if you feel homosexuality is wrong, it is not a phobia, it is an opinion. I don't think being a minority makes you a victim of anything except numbers.

The only things I can think of that are truly discriminatory are things like the United ***** College Fund, Jet Magazine, Black Entertainment Television, and Miss Black America. Try to have things like the United Caucasian College Fund, Cloud Magazine, White Entertainment Television, or Miss White America and see what happens. Jesse Jackson will be knocking down your door.

I have the right "NOT" to be tolerant of others because they are different, weird, or tick me off. When 70% of the people who get arrested are black, in cities where
70% of the population is black, that is not racial profiling, it is the law of statistics.

I know what sex is, and there are not varying degrees of it. If I received sex from one of my subordinates in my office, it wouldn't be a private matter or my personal business. It would be "FIRED" immediately!

I believe that if you are selling me a milk shake, a pack of cigarettes, a newspaper or a hotel room, you must do it in English! As a matter of fact, if you want to be an American citizen you should have to speak English!.

My father and grandfather should not have died in vain so you can leave the countries you were born in to come over and disrespect ours.

I think the police should have every right to shoot your sorry ass if you threaten them after they tell you to stop. If you can't understand the order "freeze" or "stop" in English, see the above lines.

I feel much safer letting a machine with no political affiliation recount votes when needed. I know what the definition of lying is.

I don't think just because you were not born in this country, you are qualified for any special loan programs, government sponsored bank loans or tax breaks, etc., so you can open a hotel, coffee shop, trinket store, or any other business.

We did not go to the aid of certain foreign countries and risk our lives in wars to defend their freedoms so that decades later they could come over here and tell us our constitution is a living document and open to their interpretations.

I don't hate the rich. I don't pity the poor. I know wrestling is fake, but so are movies and television, and that doesn't stop you from watching them. I believe a self-righteous liberal or conservative with a cause is more dangerous than a Hell's Angel with an attitude.

I think Bill Gates has every right to keep every penny he made and continue to make more. If it ticks you off, go and invent the next operating system that's better and put your name on the building. Ask your buddy that invented the Internet to help you..

It doesn't take a whole village to raise a child right, but it does take a parent to stand up to the kid and smack his/her little ass when necessary and say "NO".

I think tattoos and piercing are fine if you want them, but please don't pretend they are a political statement. And please stay home until that new lip ring heals, I don't want to look at your ugly infected mouth as you serve me french fries!

I am sick of "Political Correctness" and of all the suck ups that go along with it. I know a lot of black people, and not a single one of them was born in Africa, so how can they be "African Americans"? Besides, Africa is a continent. I don't go around saying I am a European-American because my great, great, great, great, great, great grandfather was from Europe. I am proud to be from America and no where else.

And if you don't like my point of view, tough! GET OVER IT!!! WAKE UP WHILE YOU STILL HAVE A COUNTRY TO WAKE UP TO.

10-4 here. No arguement. Its nice to see people on the same page. I understand that it is a touchy subject for some. But... too much has happened and many opportunities have been given. Myself being a minority of cuban decent can say ive been given the same opportunity as anyone else in this country to excell and move up in the world. Those who stay down are there because its easier to allow someone to feel pitty for you (if they do at all) rather than getting off your dizzy azz and moving on and up like the rest of the world.

Two things can be done here.
1. Move on like the rest of the world
2. Or watch the world pass you by and Moan and complain about how you never had a chance to move on or up.

I don't think he posted it to start a fight. I think he knows someone always finds a way to start an argument out of everything. Noone had a problem with it, but you come along and call us all high schoolers because we are proud what we work for and don't want it all handed out to "crack heads squirting out babies".

My g/f works at publix and a lady came in the other day with all these baby phat clothes, i836special edition phone with diamonds and ordered her wedding cake it came to $900, she paid for it with an EBT card(gov't assistance) the manager refused to ring up the order and said HE is not paying for HER cake with his taxes, another manager did ring it up and when they loaded it in her car it was a brand new escalade ext with spinners. Its that kind of stuff that makes me mad!!!!!!

bigscrub-thats what i'm talking about. i go to publix and i see a perfectly young couple with 3 kids paying with them d@amn govt checks. granted the husband is strong as an ox but apparently to freakin lazy to support his family.  give that money to the people that really need it. like the elderly or cripples that do need assistance.

listen all i am saying is that if you cant afford to have kids then dont. the people i am talking about you can tell have been here most of their life. so what, this lazy @ss gets to stay home while i have to send my kids to day care til 6:00pm cause me wife has to work. i dont think so. like i said no pitty here. cant afford it- get a second or third job. i for one will do whatever it takes to support my family.

p.s.- i too came from cuba and lived with my grandparents in hialeah. my grandfathe worked in a woodmill while my grandmother sewed in a factory during the day and sewed at night at home. i love em very much and although they will never read this i'd like to say "thank you and i love u guys very much" (i guess i am having a moment-sorry)

First of all - Mama Grizz....you go girl  ;)

2nd of all....this thread is called "Open Discussion" therefore, ANYTHING is "up" for "discussion."  And FYI in case anyone's wondering, I am NOT in high school.

As for people taken advantage....it's a shame.  The "Publix" lady, unfortunately she is one of MANY taking advantage in this country.  But yes, there ARE those families who truly need the assistance and value it, however, they are VERY few and FAR between....and this is MY OPINION!!!!!

Title: Re: America
Post by: jwscroll on July 21, 2005, 10:55:46 AM
I am a member of one of those families that has used gov't assistance. The difference is that I got away from it as soon as I could. It's the habitual user that is dragging that system down, and the sad thing is that we STILL have children in this country going to bed hungry.

I hear you. The poor and the rich (not all) get the benefits while the middle class picks up the tab. You spend your whole life working while others get a free ride and tax-break incentives, but I would have to say I'm for feeding a starving child over the other.

Right on jwscroll, It doesn't matter who u are, at 1 point of your life or another you are going to need help. There will always be the one's that abuse the system, that is just the way life is. It is up to the individual to take the steps to better their life.

I can personally say that the people abusing the system are not the whole problem.  I was out of work for 14 months before the job I have now.  In that time I collected unemployment and feel good that I did because unemployment is paid for by the company you worked for, not taxpayers.  but during that time, I had to cover my daughter under health insurance and the only way I could do it was through "Healthy Kids".  Healthy Kid is basically welfare that is paid for by taxpayers and is free health insurance for children in disadvantaged families.  I'm glad that my daughter is a healthy kid basically because I don't even remember using the program at all during that time.

Anyway, long story made short, when I found a job, my first goal was to get on the company health plan and get my daughter off of Healthy Kids program.  It took me a little over 2 years AFTER I had her covered under the company health plan to get her off of the Healthy Kids program due to paperwork and bureaucracy.

First off you nailed it rigt on the head! Second, I knew it was only a matter of time before someone started complaining about you posting what most of us hold to be true.

THE MORE I COME ON THIS SITE THE MORE I SEE IT GOING SO FAR FROM WHAT IT IS ALL ABOUT.IT LOOKS LIKE PEOPLE COME ON THIS SIT JUST TO START FIGHTS AND GET EVERY ONE PISSED OFF.PEOPLE NEED TO GROW UP,THIS IS NOT HIGH SCHOOL!!!!!!!!.IF YOU KNEW IT WOULD GET PEOPLE MAD THEN WHY POST IT.ITS ALWAYS THE SAME PEOPLE STARTING THE PROBLEMS ALWAYS.

No one was trying to start a problem. This forum is construced with a common interest in mind, but doen't exclude us from talking about other common interests. Do you think we should post nothing that isn't directly related to ATV's? We post to communicate and share topics of interest with each other. This is just like some of what the original post was about. Most of us agree with what was said. A few don't like it and complain. We should not refrain from sharing what we believe in with each other for fear of the few that don't share common beliefs. Don't like it, don't read it. It is not an attack on the few by the many, it was a common set of beliefs commented on so that those that share similar beliefs can contribute/discuss it. Just like in society it is the "few" that attacked the many. Why is it you can spout off about what you want while telling us not to post what we want? This is a slightly different situation, but draws a parallel..... Do something that promotes black history, heritage or culture and you are a great person. If you are balck and do that then you are simply trying to "lift up" your race and showing pride in your color. On the other side if you are white and do the same thing promoting the pride of your color you are quickly labeled racist and looked down upon. Again the many are attacked by the few. society likes to promote such anti majority attacks while condemning any counter attacks. those living outside the norms want to be left alone and respected for their decisions, but they continually attack those holding true to those norms for their lifestyles. It's a system of hypocracy. If you're gay, black, disabled, etc, etc, etc, you can do no wrong and it's ok to fight for your decisions/acceptance. while if you are white, hetro sexual, Christian, male you can do no right.
We need to be proud of who we are and not be coerced into giving up our beliefs and practices just because a few don't like it. Minorities (gays, ethnic, religious, etc) should not be discriminated against, but they should not be able to destroy all that has been created by societal norms and rules. Not only should we continue to speak out promoting our opinions and lifestyles, we should do more to promote it. Don't give in to political correctness, right is still right. Allowing everything does not make everything alright. a freak is still a freak, a sex worker is still a w#*re, and a liar is still a liar (is does not have a hidden meaning). Don't be ashamed of being a good, moral person just because a few deviants don't like it.
Don't take any of this out of context. it is not an attack on a lifestyle, it's a statement of pride about what most of us consider right and normal. Don't start crying and whining if you have made other deciscions in your life.

Title: Re: America

And 1 more thing, public assistance is nothing to be ashamed of. It's there to help. the problem is when people take advantage of the system and use it to avoid taking care of themselves or their kids. It should be available to those that NEED it long enough to get them back on their feet. They should not be able to mooch off what hard working people pay in through their hard work. And assistance should not be geared toward a race or away from another. and it should not include free college. If you want to go to school save your money or earn a scholarship. My wife and I put our selves through while supporting our selves and our kids. No one should get for free what others have to work for just because of their skin color... after all isn't that racism ?

My two cents worth... I think this site is about making and having friends.  From time to time every one of us is going to have a rough time of it, and there are those here that would stop at nothing to help out a brother or sister rider.  We have seen that in action here recently.

If we all did more of this and less reliance on the government, we would all be better off in more ways than one.

agreed, I was glad to see it once where someone did NOT attribute it to Carlin.

Hey, I want new rims for my 05 F350 4x4 King Ranch. Can I get one of those EBT cards? I don't need spinners, just some 18 x 10" Weld Sand Storms. I'll even buy my own tires.

I also agree that our government has some serious issues... especially when it comes to "politcal correctness".  Here's my prime example....

I live with my mom. Our house is 3 years old, 1000 SF, and still not finished. We just got carpet a few months ago, until then, our floor was bare concrete. My mom works her azz off for the state, yet still makes under $32,000. I do not qualify for government financial aid.. because they feel my mom makes to much money. I have to pay for my college on my own (I make $9 an hour). When I went to my counselor to try to get more financial aid options this is what she told me...   "The only other thing I can tell you to do in order to recieve a Govt. grant is to have a baby and lose the father." I was absolutely floored. Here I am trying to make a good life for myself and do things responsibly.. yet I'm getting punished? I understand that there are single parents out there who really want to make the best life possible, but just as with EBT cards... there are SO many who just dont learn and take advantage of the system. Birth Control pills are free to those who cant afford them... USE THEM until you can at least support yourself. Don't buy what you cant afford.. etc... BE RESONSIBLE! I am so angry at the way our govt handle things like this... priorities are WAY out of line.

Punish the hard workers.... Reward the lazy irresponsible ones....

Am I the only one seeing a problem???

My father died when I was 15 and he was the only one who worked . He  left my my mother, who was in the middle of a nervous break down and had never worked with 4 children, one who was mental retarded and 2 under the age of 11 years and me. He had no insurance, etc. SSI took 3 months to kick in so we went down to Miami  for food stamps just for 3 months so we could eat. They literally said we were the wrong color, why couldn't she work even though under evaluation for the breakdown, and to sell our house. They gave us food stamps for one month $98 for five people and said that we had to come back down again next month by bus because my mother didn't   drive. It took 3 busses with 4 children. The next day I went out and got a job and declared never to ask for help again

Here's one for you all. This is my experience with being punished for not being a minority and/or not being lazy. Absolute true story in every aspect.

In 1991 I graduated from a large Florida university with bachelor's of science degrees in both Economics and in General Business Admin, magna cum laude. A few years later, I got my MBA from USF. I paid for all of this myself, did not ask for assistance and at the same time, paid for my mortgage on my home. Mom and dad helped very very little at my request. I wanted to do it on my own.

In 1995 I decided I wanted to go to law school. I applied to my school of choice after taking the LSAT and scoring extremely high. With my past academic history, GPA and LSAT score, I figured I'd be a shoe in. Well, I got turned down. I took the LSAT again and scored even higher. Applied again....denied again. What was the problem? I was over 160 on my LSAT, had a 3.8 in undergrad and a 4.0 on my MBA.

I tried one more time and got in to my law school of choice in 1997. Now, this is a private school, not fed funded. Therefore, 3 years in this school will cost you $130k plus (without rooming). I figured, I'd never asked for any government grants, scholarships, etc. in the past so, this was the time.

I applied. I met all the criteria except, I was a white male with a job, a wife, no kids and I (at this point) owned my home. Never mind the fact financially I was without the ability to pay for school absent huge loans. So, I got denied any grant, scholarship, etc. I instead borrowed the money to go to school.

While there, I met and made friends with people who were not white and did not have the back ground (wife, kids, etc.) that I did. Many of them were there on a free ride from the government and got into law school (even a private one) with low GPA's and LSAT scores and from lower rate Universities with marginal edicational experience.

So, while I racked up ove $130k in debt, attended law school, commuted, paid my mortgage, worked my butt of at part time jobs, made darn near a 4.0 GPA, and graduated magna cum laude #7 in a class of 130, many of these folks (I figure I knew of 6 of them) failed out of law school all together. In fact, I know for certain 3 of them failed out or just left.

How could this be? I asked my financial aid officer at school about this situation. He looked at me stone faced and said, "Sorry, but if you were not white, had at least one illigetimate kid and did not have your background, I could get you in for free." I asked him about why I had so much trouble getting into this particular school in the first place, his response was the same. This was confirmed again in discussions with admission's board members over the years.

Today, I've just about paid off all my law school loans. They cost me about $1100.00 per month if I pay the minimum payment.  It is a strain and I've foregone a lot of play time and play toys over the years.

Having been a victim of "reverse discrimination" or affirmative action, I have a right to speak my mind on the issue. It is an absolute crock. Too many people feel they are owed something from the rest of us who choose to get out of bed every day and contribute. It is not a black, white, hispanic, asian issue. It is a lazy verses non-lazy issue. Government assistance is fine when it has limits. It is supposed to be something to help you along till you can make it on your own.

So, what do we do? Work to do away with affirmative action for starters. It flat out does not work and is antiquated. There are too many other laws and regulations in place now days to prevent the type of disparaging treatment affiramtive action was designed to address.  Any more, affirmative action has become a joke.

Make government assistance as difficult to get as it is to get a subsidized federal student loan. After filling out page four of ten, more folks will simply get a job.

Stop rewarding people for having kids they can't support. this is pretty easy to figure out.

Now, someone get me that EBT card, I really want new rims.

You're a lawyer right? Can't find a loophole about paying back the loans? If doctors usually don't pay them back why would you?

Not that easy. I wish it was . Most of my doctor buddies are up to their ears in school loans too.

I saw a report on that years ago probably on 20/20 and the doctors were living in their big houses driving a Lexus claiming they cannot afford to pay off the loan. So they pass the bill in the form of higher interest rates onto people like yourself. I would hope 1 day people will realize this BS happens on both sides of the economic coin. It's not just the poor.

No way out...my brother is a lawyer - took him until he was 40 to payback all his loans.  Crazy.  :o

Yeah, it's BS. Unfortunatley, the more you make, the more you are taxed and the more you are expected to take care of everyone else. Doctor's are a different story. I wish my clients had legal insurance so that my fees were guaranteed.  But, that's another subject for another place and time.

Skyhigh - You're not the only 1 seeing the problem, but once again doing something in the name of equality would be labeled racist by jessee jackson and al sharpton. they want handouts due to color. It's racism but they like it when it benefits their color. That doesn’t mean that all ethnic minorities take advantage of it, it means that it's there if they want to where as we have no access even if we really need it because we're white.

Mama Grizz - it sucks that you and your family had to go through what you did instead of getting the help you needed because you weren't the right color. It is good to see that you were strong enough to use that as motivation to be a good responsible person with integrity. You're an inspiration.

Anoriginal - What you have accomplished is impressive. the fact that you were able to do so with virtually no aid is even more impressive and speaks toward your dedication, integrity, perseverance and character. Even though others milked the system while you struggled, you have the pride of knowing you did it on merit not on a corrupt system. about your loans... even if you can get out of them I don't think you should. I know it would mean more free money for toys, but in my opinion if you borrow it you should repay it. That too will be a testimony toward your character and integrity.

These are more proof that the system has failed. It needs to be overhauled. The only way to get rid of discrimination is to no longer allow it to be a factor. No more preferential treatment of minorities. No more free educations, lower entry scores, less requirements regarding experience and  work ethic. If the education and  work system was based solely upon merit, then the hard workers would be regarded regardless of ethnicity, and the system could help those in need instead of  allowing a certain few to slack and get the same pleasure and materials in life as the hard working ones.  Take race out of the loop and base  help and rewards on merit. I know it’s a novel idea in today’s society but it’s the only fair way. I heard a while back that there was  going to be a committee to look into making sure that  minorities and immigrants can afford the same homes and  comfort of living level as white Americans. That’s crap ! Work hard and earn it. No one should be given something just because someone else has worked hard and obtained it.

I have had a friend that I have known since he was 2 years old. He is half white and half black. His mom(white) raised him by herself and his entire life he has "checked the caucasian box." They have never had alot of money but this kid is a Genius! He has always been in advanced classes and on Honor Roll. When it came time for him to goto college he scored a 1500 on his SAT's and applied to University of Miami. Once again he checked "caucasian" his application was denied. After thinking that he has never taken a cent from the government he decided to reapply to UofMiami and this time checked "Black" not only was he accepted, but he got a FULL ride! That shows that something is messed up in the system.
