Title: Re: rear axle Post by: TRX450R_Racer on July 17, 2005, 10:59:30 PM It is easy. The hardest part is getting the big nut loose. Have someone sit one the quad and press down on the rear brake while you loosen the big nut. You will have to loosen the chain tension. After you do those 2 things lift the rear off the ground and remove the wheels and hubs. You can use the brakes to keep the axle from spinning if you don't have air tools. Now you need to take off the rear caliper. I have never done a YFZ450. I assume that is what you have. Theay are all pretty much the same. There might be a caliper mount that has to come off. My advice to you is if your quad is older than 6 months and you ride a lot get new axle bearingfs and seals while you have it a part. When you put it back together use anti-seize on the inside of the carrier spacer tube. Also use it on all of the splined areas. If you have mechanical ability you can do it. Good Luck.
