Title: Cabela's Tire Tite System
Post by: K_Man on August 06, 2015, 03:13:55 PM
I got tired of having my Can-Am Commander sliding around in my trailer. I would tie it down with four, 1” wide ratchet straps. The best places to tie it off were compressing the suspension which is not a good thing for any length of time. I started looking into getting some wheel chocks when I found these on the Cabelas website.

I ordered a pair for the front tires and used my straps on the back of the Commander.  My next trip I noticed that the front tires didn’t move at all while the rear of the Commander had moved around some again. I went and ordered/installed a second set of the Cabela's Tire Tite System.

Now when I’m going down a rough dirt road I can see the Commander shaking back and forth on its suspension while the Tire Tite System holds the tires like they were welded to the trailer. The quick release straps will let me fasten down or release all four straps to my Commander to the trailer in 5 minutes or less.

The straps are the right length for the tires on my Commander (27” front/29” rear). I am not sure if they would fit 30” or bigger tires. If I find someone with bigger tires I will have them pull up on the trailer and see if they will fit.

My total cost for two of the Cabela’s Tire Tite Systems, shipping, tax and hardware to fasten them down to the trailer was about $100. They are so easy to use and hold my Commander on the trailer so well I think they are worth it.

Very nice those do not compress the suspension and let the suspension work as it should while on the trailer.  :ThumbsUp.gif

Isn't there less wear on the suspension when the ATv/SxS doesn't have bounce up and down, during trailering? After all, suspensions don't wear out by just sitting on an atv or when atv is just sitting in the garage, do they? How long will Tire Tite hold up to the weather, since they're permanently-mounted on the trailer and most folks store their trailers outdoors? Is Tire Tite bolted to the wooden deck or to the steel supports(under deck)? There are better ones, but, I use these; http://www.cabelas.com/catalog/product.jsp?productId=1188616&destination=%2Fcatalog%2Fproduct.jsp%3FparentCategoryId%3D104796180%26categoryId%3D630506880%26subCategoryId%3D630508680%26indexId%3D630514080%26productId%3D1978095%26type%3Dproduct%26destination%3D%252Fcatalog%252Fbrowse%252Ftie-downs-cargo-nets%252F_%252FN-1118235%252FNs-CATEGORY_SEQ_630514080 (http://www.cabelas.com/catalog/product.jsp?productId=1188616&destination=%2Fcatalog%2Fproduct.jsp%3FparentCategoryId%3D104796180%26categoryId%3D630506880%26subCategoryId%3D630508680%26indexId%3D630514080%26productId%3D1978095%26type%3Dproduct%26destination%3D%252Fcatalog%252Fbrowse%252Ftie-downs-cargo-nets%252F_%252FN-1118235%252FNs-CATEGORY_SEQ_630514080)

The metal brackets are 2 pieces for each tire. I used 6 bolts on each piece.  The straps can be attached or removed in seconds. I have no problem attaching or removing all four sets of straps in less than 5 minutes.
