Title: Intro & Hello Post by: whired on September 03, 2014, 05:18:10 PM Hi all,
Just joined in the hopes of meeting new people with atvs and more group ride opportunities. I live in North Florida, but travel all over. I cant really find any active atv clubs, and just hoping to meet like-minded people. I hope to meet some of you soon on the trails. Whens the next ride?! whired Title: Re: Intro & Hello Post by: patches206 on September 04, 2014, 05:55:15 AM Welcome

Title: Re: Intro & Hello Post by: whired on September 04, 2014, 11:27:16 PM Patches I lived in east Tn for 3 years and with the exception of the racetrack that some of the most technical riding iv ever done, I love riding there! Can't wait to ride Croom -never been there. My ATV has AM exhaust and tires, that's about it. I ride at Hog Waller, but that's the closest I ride to Ocala NF, is it fun there? Terrain type?
Title: Re: Intro & Hello Post by: whired on September 04, 2014, 11:32:59 PM Thanks 1Scorp. How is Ocala NF?

I didn't see any moderator reports, so no problems there. Title: Re: Intro & Hello Post by: whired on September 05, 2014, 01:19:06 PM Most welcome. If it helps me get in the woods more often its the best 20 bux I will have spent this year. The weather is headed in the right direction, lets plan a big ride somewhere!
Title: Re: Intro & Hello Post by: patches206 on September 05, 2014, 04:23:53 PM Croom is a great place, old mine pits with some technical stuff and a lot of sand trails. When it cools down in about 6 weeks I start camping once or twice a month and staying for the weekend. You will have to come and check it out.
Title: Re: Intro & Hello Post by: 1Scorpion on September 06, 2014, 07:13:49 AM Thanks 1Scorp. How is Ocala NF? Nothing technical. Mostly sandy trails , The centennial trial has the most scenery (IMO). Both have a good amount of wildlife. You have to watch the corners it's all two way trails. **As a recap I rode St. Mary's Shoals State Park this Saturday AM and luckily beat the worst of the weather. There was plenty of water, and it was fun, flat of course. Basically gridded fire roads with marked loops trails that divert off every so often. There are a variety of creeks to cross, but Im not sure how many of these were related to the St Marys entering flood stage as I rode, or are the norm? I do know that the mix of powdered sand and gravel some of the trails feature would be dusty beyond belief without the rain, but were an absolute blast when wet going around corners. The area also has horse paths that cross the atv trails, so the chance of hitting something bigger than a Polaris exists, be careful. On another note I met someone out there and got to drive my first Commander 800. Wow is what I have to say. I did not think it would do as well as it did, or expect the HP. Other than some jerkiness at low RPM maneuvering based on the tranny (why cant they just let us change gears?), and some "floating" sensations at high speeds (55+) it was a pleasure! In summary these trails would be good for a family outing or introductory / eval rides. Nothing tech, but what a beautiful protected, unknown little gem it is. -whired Title: Re: Intro & Hello Post by: 1Scorpion on September 08, 2014, 06:06:16 PM Croom is a great place, old mine pits with some technical stuff and a lot of sand trails.
