Im trying to get a group ride at durahamtown plantation going for the weekend of October the 7th thru the 11th, which is columbus day weekend! i figure we head out friday after work, drive straight there, catch a few hours sleep, then ride saturday, sunday  and drive home on monday!

the temps should be in the mid 70s to low 80s which will be nice! we can rent a 3 bedroom, 2 bath, living, dining, full kitchen, washer and dryer mobile home for $150 a night and split the bill. or a cabin that sleeps 8 for $120 a night but it doesnt have a full kitchen or washer and dryer. food is served on site for $6 for breakfast, $8 for lunch, $8 for dinner and all meals are buffet style and all you can eat. or we can take food with us and cook in the mobile home!

the price to ride is $25 per day and a night ride is available for an additional $15.
i think that is all the costs involved with the exception of fuel!

     That would be fun...too bad our work places don't count this as a day off.....lol

Sounds pretty good,never rode anywhere else but Florida.How long does it take to get there?? How many miles??

felix, i believe it is only a 9 hr drive for you.

with this much notice i figured everyone would be able to ask for that day off ;D

I'm up for going in October, that's just the one weekend I can't.  My wife has a scrap book convention all w/e and I am watching the kids.  Columbus day is not a holiday for me anyway, so any other weekend would work.  The leaves may start changing in Oct. something I miss living in FL.

Alright that should be some good dates for a speed ride. What happened to Labor day weekend was it booked up? Anyway you can pretty much count me in for the ride. Do we need to book the shacks in advance or what.

I hope we can get alot of people from here to repersent Florida, it will be a great time so lets go and ride. ;D

WE are DOWN Dreth! Me, Wifey and possibly some more. They rent quads there so I may make it a family vacation,  ;D. Those dates are perfect as well. If we leave at 5PM from work in Miami we should be there like 1 or 2 am right?

I may be in!  some of my guys might want to go too!  keep us posted. ;)

Dreth, didn't you go to another riding spot in GA on your last out-of-state trip?  Was Durhamtown better/more fun?  We went in May and had a blast at DP-can't wait to go back.  Wife says one trip a year-next trip will be with her and my son-but probably not Durhamtown, or even a place to ride-

i just spoke with the folks at duraham town and they said in order to guarantee the cabins we want we will need to book them the 1st week in september! so there is time for everyone to make plans, save, and get ready ;)

This is not just a speed ride but we will have a few rides over the weekend that will be a very fast pace! so if you had a question about bringing kids or not, i say bring em! they have a little something for everyone! tracks, trails, mud, pee wee track, drag strip, beginner trails...................................all trails are 1 way & marked very well so you can ride at your own pace and not get lost ;)

any questions, comments, ideas or suggestions are welcomed.

Sounds good to me!!! I love Durhamtown.  Ill tell my dad and see if we could get plans.  My dad and i are also going This july 23, 24,25, some of those days.  I dont know if my dad could do the speed ride but im definately in!!

I'm not trying to piss on anyone's parade, but, that could be a very challenging night drive for those who've never been. The last 20-30 miles gets interesting(once you pass Ocoee). I'd recommend that you drive up during the day. But, it's well worth the trip!

i figure that on my way up( friday morning) i can take down the milage to each turn and call back with the info! and anyone who can leave early friday morning is more than welcome to.  plus those that can caravan up as a group will have each other to find the way. it is tricky but can be done with a little help from each other ;)

this  sounds  real good.  man  i need  a mini  vacation!  soon  we  mostlikely  join  you  guys    will  check  my  work load ...........

Well You know I will leave fri morning as well. And as Dreth said it ait no party without Ride1Rob in the house cheering us on to go faster. Yea boyz if you cant hang in the front move on over and let the BIG DOGS on through. ;)

I SO want to go, but not sure about finances, I figured already between fuel for my truck and lodging/food(renting a cabin) that I'd be spending about $400 - $500 for a long weekend.

If I did this, I'd be driving up either thursday night or Friday morning.

What up Felix, Looks good for me so far!

Does seem like it'll be pretty expensive. The only way I plan on doing it... Load my bike and ride w/ someone else and split expenses. As of now I think myself, Wayne, and Dre may be doing that but I'm not certain :-\.

Better add me to the list, I cait wait to go. Its over a month away so start saving the money now. ;)

YOU ALL NEED TO READ THE OPENING POST!!!!!!!!!!! I SAID WE COULD SPLIT THE CABINS AND MAYBE EVEN CAR POOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! YALL ARE WORSE THAN KIDS ::) All yall read was the RIDING part and then went blind ;D

the one cabin they have is  3 Bedroom 2 bath with a couch in the living room! that means we can split the 150$ four ways which is $37.50 each per night! stay for 2 nights and its $75 total for lodging!

2 days of riding equals $50

food equals $60

and fuel! will vary with type of vehicle!

which leaves you with a total of $185 plus fuel!!!!!!!!!!!!!! $400 TOPS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! THATS EVERYTHING!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If everything works out like it looks like it will, I have a F250 Crew Cab truck with a 16' flatbed that will haul 4 quads easily!  I will be leaving from the Longwood-Apopka Area if anyone needs a lift!  I beleive it will be just 2 of us right now!

dreth, thinking about maybe going with you guys if that would be OK and you don't mind an old guy. If I do might leave on Friday morning. If I do go maybe we could hook up as you go past the Jacksonville aera. Going to start pinging on the other half and see what I can do. Was just reading the artical in ATV Rider about Durhamtown and it does seem like a great place to ride. I would not be able to do the speed ride but the trails sure do sound nice.

we are exactly 2 months away! im getting excited ;D we have a month to book our cabins to ensure 1st choice so lets get some plans made up soon! as of now im picking up ida man early that friday morning and heading up. ;D and myself, tony, and ida man will be sharing a cabin.

i just booked Bills Place for 3 nights, fri. 7th, sat.8th , sun.9th ! its  3 br, 2 bath, full kitchen, living, dining, washer and dryer mobile home that is 1.5 miles from the epicenter (food, gear, and bike wash) ! looks like it will be Flea Jumper and his family, T2Raptor and his son, Ida_man, and myself staying at said establishment for the 2 days and 3 nights of fun. ;D ;D ;D

Alrighty looks like we are going to have at least 15 people in our cabin that alone should be a great time.

Add the riding in and we are going to have an outstanding time. ;D

if someone has a little spot for me and my blaster i could help pay for gas and whatever. id love to finally catch a ride with you guys. if anyone has a spot give me a shout.

I would but I have 5 bikes I am taking with me. I'm sure we can come up with something for you just have to see where we can fit you in. Dreth is on it, so in my opinion we will do everything to try to get you a ride, since we are going past your area anyway.

F250 Crew Cab 4X4. 16 ft flat beed trailer I can stack the 2 mini quads in the bed of the truck and put mine yours and Harley Honeys on the Trailer. Just a thought.

Dreth you know I am carrying 3 bikes and have room for one more.  If you need the space Mokas let me know.  I am taking a 19' enclosed with everyones valuables inside to protect it from any weather and people if you need to you can put some of your stuff inside our trailer.

Can I keep my bike in your trailer I dont want it to get dirty on the way up there, along with my gear, oh yea you can put the kids back there as well. Thanks FJ.

Mokas, how old are you? the reason im asking is due to the regulations of durhamtown! like if they need a legal guardian to sign papers so you can ride type stuff.

Try to talk your parents into letting you take the day off from school.  We are all letting our kids off for the day, its a special trip with great people.  I am sure you can do it, you have enough time to beg.

  If you are up and running early, I can swing by and pic you and your bike up as I am going right up 95.  If not then I can pick you bike up in the morning and you can hitch a ride with someone else.

Thats the best I can do.  Let me know.

Hey what time do you think you'll be up here In jacksonville? Among those who are going lets get an idea of what is the best way to go 95N or US1N. Lke to get some input from those who have gone before. Daphne and I have accumulated the fixens for Tacos for one evening.

please prepare to bring some towels because they are only expecting 6 of us to be in the cabin!

trying to get aleast 3 days + the weekend,,, 5 days. just never seems to be enough time to ride when going for 2 - 3 nights...
make sure to do the night rides, they are the best.

One tip for those of you who have never been...pack some extra GREASED LIGHTNING or your cleaner of choice, because that RED dirt is hellified difficult to get off.

I just got off the phone with Steve and he brought up a good point.
If you plan on doing the night ride on sat you need front headlights and a tail light that are working order. Its real dark out there so every bit of light helps out. Only a few more days and we out 8)

Food Situation!

  Please do not forget that everyone is packing their own breakfast and lunch.  For dinner, Chuck and his wife have taken care of one night with tacos.  I have taken care of another night with spaghetti.  Flea Jumper offered to do lasagna, is that ok with you Flea or we can just do hamburgers and hot dogs?

Things to bring:

The cabin is fully equiped for 6 people but we will have 13, so please bring what ever you might need like towels, wash clothes, etc for your family.  

Sleeping Arrangements:

I think there is bedding for 3 in each room, but just in case, you might want to bring an air mattress and bedding for it (blankets).  

Transportation:

Dreth, Matt, T2 & son, Idaman will be pulling out from Tony's house at 7am headed towards ChuckNorris house.  Mokas you will need to let us know who you are ridding with, (either ChuckNorris or Flea?)  and where are you going to meet us at? (ChuckNorris' house?)

Steve I'm not sure where you live so please call me @ 772-216-5952.  Please contact me for meeting location.

Flea Jumper can you also please call me for meeting location.

If there is anything I am missing or any details that need to be discussed, please don't hesitate to say something and help me out as much as possible because my mind is currently very distracted due to my bike being in a thousand pieces.  I am currently at ATP getting all the cracks in my frame repaired so I don't know how much help I can be right now.  I would be very greatful to any of ya'll that could step up and take control of this due to my current situation.

Chuck do you live near I95? and is that US1 route have traffic lights, if so I rather take 95 stright up. I think we can meet you in Jacksonville around 1200.

Dont forget the extra fuel cans? You will need them when you run into town for gas...There gas is probably $4 + at durhamtown
Also instead of going to Union Point (south) go (north) out of durhamtown on SR44 and the first town has grocery store,  fast food, gas, chinese food place, i think the town is called washinton..

guys, was this ride that bad? Nobody wants to even talk about it? I was jealous that I couldn't go, BUT.........

I just posted a few pic in the gallery area. take a peak when you get a chance. My camera took a dump on the first day. >:( if it weren't so wet the riding would have been 10x's better. I had a blast anyway both riding and playing Cards that evening.  Looking forward to the next trip there for sure.

Was it muddy the whole time?  And was it so muddy that the tracks werer't as fun?

the mud made it challenging but it was a matter of overcoming the "I dont want to get muddy" mind thought and just get-r-done I rolled my YFZ in front of Dreth while in a power slide after hitting a pothole. no harm no foul.
we had are share of incidents. all in all it was a great time

did you book that trailer threw durhamtown? or private...
I would like to get the info on that place  $$$ wise... especially if you can ride to the lodge  with the quad...we are trying to get a trip up before thanksgiving??????

you rent it from durhamtown just like the others! its called BILLS PLACE!  its $150 dollars a night and its 1.5 miles from the lodge.
