Title: Yamaha Clutch Perch changeout
Post by: RaptItUp on July 13, 2005, 12:36:30 PM
I want to change the perch on my Raptor and wondered what to do with the reverse rev limiter, and clutch engagement wires that both come into the factory piece.
My rev limter wire got broken off at the perch, so I was thinking about a replacing the whole thing.   I know you can do away with the useless parking brake and block it off at the caliper, but the others......?????

Anyone done this?

I have never done a Raptor, but on most quads all you have to do is unplug the connector and it should bypass it.

Thanks TRX.  My problem was that the plastic connector on the rev limiter wire broke and it caused the limiter to kick in at 1500 rpm in all gears.  Once I rigged it up to make contact it was fine. So what you said makes sense.  I would like to do away with the wires all together instead of unplug them.  I guess I need to follow them to where they begin and then do some experimenting.   Still not sure why a rev limiter wire would be hooked into the clutch perch.   The clutch/neutral wire I understand.
