Title: 2003 Yamaha 660 Raptor
Post by: nboyd_1991 on September 24, 2012, 10:06:43 PM
Could someone please post a picture of the piston at top dead center with the "I" mark aligned with the notch on the side cover? Because my piston is not at technical TDC, but have no idea why its not. Someone mentioned my key on the crank might be sheared but its not. I've bought a clymer repair manual and according to it, it was in time. I aligned the crank with the notch on the side cover and had the cam with the oil holes towards the valve cover with the two dots on the the sprocket were parallell with the head, and I bent the middle intake valve. So if anyone could help me out i would be very thankful.

take the top of the cam cover off.. watch the intake valves open, close, then watch the exhaust open, then close, then have a tiny screw driver or coffee stirrer and stick it in the hole where the spark plug is. when it reaches its top and starts pushing out then starts to fall back, look to see if your marks are lining up.
