Title: no power-no problem/ no roof-problem!
Post by: gery350 on July 08, 2005, 11:53:23 PM
man i have been through alot worse than this little storm. but apparently my roof had enough. happened about 5:30 right when i got home. finished puting tarp at 10:oo pm under rain and wind. still got leaks but will continue tomorrow. got like 8 buckets in my family room. we did lose power when it happened but got it back around 8:00. so if you dont have power dont feel bad at least you dont have to deal with this crap.

If you need some help we could always throw a roofing party. Home owners are allowed to do their own roofs, are'nt they?

That really sucks Gery350. I hope it doesn't get any worse. Were you in the middle of doing the roof? Looks like all you have is Cedar tougne and groove planks covered with Dry-in and tar. Hope the tarp holds :)

thanks for all your concerns guys. the roof is tongue and groove and apparently it had some type of particle board insulation and the paper.
put a large tarp that covers over 3 sides but getting water in through the edge thats didnt make it to the other side. i attached it with ferring strips to the roof and just put some caulk on it now to see if it stops the rain from coming in. we'll see what the insurance says. now with that special 2,500.00 wind storm deductible who knows. i am telling ya god is testing my faith but i remain strong.
