Any TT racing or practice? Just wondering.....

WE ARE CONSIDERING TT RACING AGAIN!!
I NEED TO KNOW WHAT KIND IF INTEREST IS OUT THERE FOR THIS.
THE TT TRACK HAD BEEN COMPLETELY RENOVATED PRIOR TO LAST YEARS BIKE WEEK EVENTS.
TT TRACK IS READY FOR ACTION!!

Im nterested in getting back into TT racing. Im trying to contact some of the guys from 3-4 years ago.

AS SOON AS YOU GET AHOLD OF THEM, LETS START A WINTER SERIES!!

The TT  track is still laid out ,it hasn't seen much use since the march races,but just needs a little prepping.
there is a handful of riders that are interested in starting the TT racing back up, but we need a few more to start a short series.
not many people from the old days are still racing,its mostly newer riders.
With the economy slump, track ownership changes, and lack of a skilled rider base ,and people who quit because they got discouraged with there performance ,the numbers just thinned out !
We need more riders with skills, heart, and a love for competition, and the ability to tune and adjust for changing track conditions wouldn't hurt either !!!
Bills group at OMS is capable of hosting a series and prepping the track, just need the riders to make it happen !!
There is a group of quads that run the flat track series and most want to run TT also ,If someone is interested in flat track or TT racing they should make a few races at OMS and meet some of the riders and maybe we can get a small points race series started !!

they are having pratice this Sunday.
OMS is hosting two days of sprint racing on fri and sat , the track is going to have a lot or rubber laid down and some sick traction come Sunday !!

not sure if i can get the 450 ready by this weekend but now i have motivation

its still backfiring and missing iv put a new head gasket in it and checked the intake bolts i also put a new black box in it and checked the fuses still cant find the problem

Is the Tt part ready to ride..or does it still have grass? Id be up for some seat time. I haven't been riding go fast very much just my mud quads with the family. I NEED some hard riding.

Trying to find some race gas here in orl. If I can find it, im deff going tomorrow .

I went yesterday and spoke with Bill about the TT track.
Bill said he would work on the track this weekend after the sprint races.
he likes the idea of having a TT series, but the outcome will of course, will be up to rider participation !!!!
we already had good class structures, rules and requirements set up.
the bigger the rider base,the more diversified the classes will become, so spread the word to your ridding buddies , Mx , GNCC racers, anybody that likes fast paced riding and some fun but spirited competition.
we can build up our sport again and just maybe get it like it was once before, a fun place to go hang out with friends ,and like minded riders that like the thrill of competition !
  

  

I talked to Bill today on the phone, The practice time for this sunday is from 9-3. The TT track is layed out but has a little grass covering. I plan on taking it from grass to clay! Anybody in.... 8)

Jon is gone for the weekend ,but Ill see if I can round up Ray and his brother for some pratice !

for the race on the 5th, we can get together and discuss some plans, get with Bill about having a few races and maybe starting a points series this winter or early next year !!

it would be great to have it ready for the next pratice day !!

I will try, can probably have it ready for the Dec 3rd flat track race, if we want to try to schedule a TT race that morning prior to the December 3rd Flat Track race. Thai might save people gas money if they planned to come to the Flat Track race anyway.

I went Sunday for some practice. Mostly ran FT. Track was good and even better when Bill put down some water, lots of bite.  The TT track looks like it will be fun, It has a good little jump and a off camber turn. Im up for a TT series ;D

I'm still looking.. can't wait to do some riding
  I have to say.. the sport has changed so much. I use to have a blast and didn't mind doing whatever it took to make it happen. after reading alot of post and everything going on, It seems like it's not just one thing. Before I go and change my quad all back to TT I need to kow that we reaLLY ARE GOING TO DO SOME RACING.. Times are tight right now and it's not cheep to come race with the family every race. I love to ride first or last and had a good time with soem good people. I do hope we get some people that want to make this happen ...

i might have to see if my slow suzuki will fire up and carry my over weight self around the track one day. I will need a few practices before i am ready to race.

no need to worry I am still just as slow as I have always been, and now with a few extra pounds.

You are just man derek that I am the only 4-stroke that has beat you out of the hole. lol. I do miss the good times we had at the track, but racing got a little expensive and the family comes first. I might come back out for tt but it will not be every race.

How does the pit passes work now? Me, my wife, 9yr old and 3yr old. $40 plus race fee?

9 year old is either $5 or $10

the problem with having races and practice on Sundays  is people have Church Sunday morning and work on Monday.
having a practice the day after the  race  kind of  defeats  the purpose  of going for practice !
maybe having a Saturday practice on a non race weekend would help increase attendance .
we can make a practice on  Sunday afternoon because we live  close ,but it won't be till after  1:30.
I was sent a voice message saying they were shutting down practice at like 11:30 last Sunday because no one showed up yet ,  I didn't find the message till I was on the way  !
I think the race format and start times are good and the gate fee's ,but I don't  know how racing on a Sunday will work out for most !

Sunday was just a suggestion, trying to get you guys on the TT track by the end of the year!! We can reschedule thou, no problem.
Our 2012 scedule should be complete soon. I will post it as soon as I have it done. Thanks BIll

Sat would def be better. I wouldnt be able to race at all if they were on Sun. We just have too much going on. Just my too cents.

I'm sure that would be no problem. You just need a swaybar, hopefully the one off the LT250R Hybrid before Steve sold it. The rest is just adjustments we can dial in at the track.

We are setting up Luke for FT, but it would be good for TT too. Hope there is enough to have a Vet class.

I dont have a swaybar anymore. I wonder if they even make one for the gasgas ?

Great this is starting back up at the time I am tring to buy a house and move back to Clermont. I will come play when funds allow me to but it will be a while I promise. I have to get a house because I already have the job starting March 30th. hope everyone has fun and be safe.

Just between me and you I overheard a conversation a few months back between him and Paul and I know Paul was telling him he wanted him to lay low for awhile because there had been threats on his life so Im not sure but I think hes still alive and just hiding like Paul told him to.  :dunno.gif  Again , this is only speculation on my part.

On the weekends that the SDTA is in the house, the SDTA will run the TT show. The TT classes wil be included in the Flat Track classes.

Were on our way. We went though some hard rain in madison. Now were setting still on 75 due to an accident.  :-\ were gonna be late but well be there!

We had a blast! Thanks Bill for the invite and running the show. Maybe next time we can get some people to show up. Jon got me in the main, i seriously couldnt feel my arms.   :P looking forward to doing it again soon.

I do have one suggestion... instead of starting with a flag drop i would like to use the red light, green light like we do in flattrack. I watched the video and nobody was leaving at the same time. Too much grey area with the flag drop. Green light makes it fair for everyone. Either its green or its not....

I DO like the starts further back... that was perfect. Gives a chance for everyone to spread out before turn one instead of bunching up. As far as the jump goes i kinda liked it. To me having a  track that requires finess and timing is cooler than one you just hold it wide open. I vote leave the jump like it is but i may be out voted there....

I agree with Derek about starting with the lights and lining up farther back, but Im still on the fence about the jump.
I dont care if the jump gets extended back or not, as long as it doesnt get tamed down any,its small enough now !

Great videos!  I hope the same group shows up on the 7th.  I will, but do not plan on running SDTA flat track.  What time will the TT portion get underway so I don't waste the whole day watching dirt bikes turn left.

I'm Scott Sheffield (#5), and I'm the guy who didn't have any race pants Saturday.....lol or I would have raced the Open or Vet class. My bike did make the race though,and almost pulled it out in the Open Class......Good riding Derek!

I have a a couple suggestions too. Can we get a little 15 minute intermission to rest up a little before the main and put a light bit of water on the track (not much)?  

Also, can the quads race TT before the motorcycle SDTA races? The motorcycles really mess up the track in the turns and add braking bumps coming in to the turns too.

Do you have to have TT tires to run?  Also is there every any open practice nights for guys that just want to give it a try?  Very interested but don't want to try and borrow tires/wheels unless I have too

I had fun also,I think I smoked my clutch.. and I need to do some tuning!! My name is Michael Kohler and I had to psh my bike to start it..lol

on race day you will need race tires , on a pratice day Bill will more than likley allow knobies ,but i would wait to hear from him before hauling up for a pratice  !

someone may lend you an old set to run for race day , I would but I only have Yamaha pattern wheels .

Hey guys Thanks for the support. Please let me share something with you, I appreciate everyone that comes to the track to support it. Everyone needs to realize that it takes everybody to make MCS work. I work endlessly trying to make MCS a great palce to race, and with everybody's support it will work. For the last 2 years I have taken money out of my pocket to run MCS knowing it is a risk. But for the love of the sport (all racing included)I do it. Shawn and the SDTA has been very supportive of MCS. He and his crew has only tried to help build MCS. I do not know why there are differences between the TT guys and Flat track guys. I heard you voice some of your opinions last Saturday and was a little confused. If we all love racing and want a place to race, then maybe we should be supportive of each other as well. I spoke with Shawn after the race on Saturday to ask why there is so many differences between the two groups and told him what I heard Saturday. The only reason I had asked Shawn this was because I did not understand. I heard that the SDTA treats Quad riders like second class citizens, and they are rude to quad riders. I might not know why these things have been said, so I called Shawn to ask why. without going into all that, he basically said that the SDTA treats everyone the same. I have witnessed that as well with me dealings with the SDTA.
Shawn had offered to help get the TT racing going again knowing, if the TT grows it will help ease the pain of digging into my pocket every week to provide you guys with a place to race.
Lets all talk on the 7th and put aside these differences, if we all work together, MCS will be around for a long time. If we can't then someone will have to explain to me why!! MCS is a business that eventually needs to at least break even once in a while. I have shown you guys my dedication by the improvments and endless hours I put into the place, show me yours, lets work together.
I am not here to open old wounds just looking for the support that you guys mentioned in previous posts. It is not about me, it is about racing and everyone supporting each other. Everyone has been so supportive from the go karts to the car guys the the quads & bikes. No one is trying to do anything but help, and I am greatful for that.
Our TT schedule shows events run by MCS and events run by SDTA, Shawn thought that alot of the bike riders would participate in the TT events if they were run on the same night as the Flat Track, and the Quad riders would appreciate being able to run both the TT & flat track if they chose to. I think it is a good concept, especially with gas prices the way they are.

My honda has always been stock......  8)  see you guys tommorow. I cant bring my bike, it needs work but i just havent had time to mess with it. Too many irons in the fire. I will get it working by the next race for sure.

Ok I was able to get a full set of tires and wheels and will be racing with yall tomorrow.  White and Black Honda 400EX #890.  Question, the STDA website says gates open at 3pm but on here it says 10am?  What's up with that?

Yes I go to dirtyfoot all the time, some times even work out there, so ya you've prob seen me before.  Actually the tires I'm borrowing are from Geno (jayman).  Some hoosiers on douglas wheels.  Also lowered my front preload one notch (all the ajustability I got lol) and lowered the rear all the way, stiffened my rear and slowed the rebound all the way down.  Hopefully that works.  running about 10 psi in the tires.

Had a great time racing with everyone, hope to start doing it more!  Can't make another race till at least May 19th though.
